Used your vids to help me learn how to run 5/32 overhead last weekend for a job where I had never used it before. Got the full time job offer with them yesterday. Thanks a ton
I bought a tig finger when I was learning 6G and I don't know how I would have passed the test without it. I know you've heard it a million times but still, thanks.
Awesome video. I've been in the welding industry for 16 years now and recently started a mobile welding business, I always like your videos I like to watch other welders and their techniques. Always got to have a bag of tricks for different circumstances.
Your 7018 videos got me through my d1.5 3g,4g test and now have successfully completed smaw, after repeating the 7018 videos hundreds of times I’m now onto .072 wire d1.1 3g, 4g & d1.8
Thank you Jody for another very educational stick welding video! I really appreciate the shots showing a tight arc - the more of these the better. I’d watch a whole video of nothing else because this helps me know what to look for. I’ll watch this video many times over.
Great video and some of the best welding shots I have seen on UA-cam , you can really see what’s going on in itch is the best for learning, so nice video thanks
Great to see another video Jody. I see you are still exercising that 210 MP. Those things have sure gone up in price as people realized how good they are. Watching you demonstrate how not to weld overhead sure takes me back to my learning days. I vividly remember laying under our bailer welding something up, slag dripping on me, molten metal doing the same. Luckily, if you can call it that, we had an asbestos blanket that we would put over us when we had to lay under something. But as we know, asbestos isn't a good thing. I can still remember taking the blanket off and seeing all the fibers float off in the air. I cringe thinking about it now days.
This video was very helpful. I have a nuclear test in a couple of days and one of the tests is structural in all 3 positions(first time having a structural test)
Interesting that the metal cohesion is strong enough to prevent the low-density slag from wetting the steel and floating into the overhead joint as a slag inclusion. Is this ever a problem?
I have been welding for about 9 yrs now with no formal training and I realy enjoy your vids. I have learned allot. Just did a large welding job allot over head realy wish I had watched this video before hand my feet would have appreciated it lol. I always weld top to bottom on vertical, is there any benefit to welding the other way?
Hello from thailand i have learned alot form you for long long time. when i do like this with E6013 stick rod it alway has arc blow at the beginning 1” and I can’t move on from it till now. Please help me with this❤
I have to admit, I have just got my first modern welder with arc force on it, and it is stuffing me up. The welder is certainly chalk and cheese compared to the old unit, but I am finding setting the arc force is a puzzle.
Set it in the middle and get used to it welding in all the positions you can with as many different types and sizes of rods as you can then start tweaking it.
The only thing I do different is to move at a speed that the puddle flows just to the light line of the last bead. ( The point where the arc light reflects off the highest point of the bead your tying in to) This makes a very flat weld, not rope like.
good lesson mr. jody. mr. jody, can you give me suggestion, where i must searching training for aerospace welding inspector school/training (aws qc1), where can give me best practice to inspect Aeronautical welding part. thanks for your suggestion
Great job. Serious question about stick welding. I have stick welder with Tig lift setting. Other day i accidentally stick welded with machine on Tig lift setting. I did notice way different sound and smoother arc,not as violent as when using arc setting. Will this hurt my machine, any pros or cons to doing stick welding while using Tig lift setting.
Great video! 7018 is well known electrodes. What about 8010, 11018? 😉 It would be great to get your professional opinion about a electrodes which are not so widely spread as 6010 or 7018.

I'm not gonna watch, I'm a disabled nuclear welder and still wished I could do it, just turn up the heat a little and keep the rod pushed up like your trying to ram it thru the material

This video helped me pass my 4F overhead test I’m a college welding student

What I wouldn't give to be young again and not have the alcoholic shakes. Andrew sure laid a nice bead. Thanks for your time Jody.
That last bead looked like pure money!

Thanks for your help👨🏭

I’m doing this right now at the end of the weld it starts burning in how do I avoid that I tried changing angles, amps, speed, I don’t know what to do

Hi. could you please make some videos on self shielded flux core?

great content. thanks a million.
any tips on welding spring steel?
What amps would you recommend for 7018 overhead on quarter inch thick plates (doing a 4f T joint for class)

Just shows the operator is just as important as the machine.
Hi Jody, question, is there any updates to the WTT podcast? no new episodes ?
Trying to figure out where to go from here. It’s difficult getting 3 people together on a call when we all are so busy
