Leveling to 47 so you have the MP to run byblos out of MP when he uses drain and still survive isn't really outsmarting it. You can win at much lower level if you spam Scan and bait out his Toad counters until his MP is gone. Points for originality though I guess, and the levels will be needed later.

White Mage actually getting use out of Confuse, Berserk, and especially Staff of Light is the only surprising thing about a challenge infamous for 30+ min boss fights until it gets Holy. Congrats.
Nicely done, esp. when you got berserk and staves of light. Some of the strats are actually pretty cool after that. For example, the undead three little pigs boss in the trench are all non-heavy so a single curaga on each one takes them to single-digit HP and then an AoE cura finishes them off in a single round of combat. Honestly I think this is a one-job challenge I wouldn't personally do because it's the most tedious of all. Congrats to you for pulling it off! Edit: Since you mentioned it, there is a mythril staff in the original game's code which for whatever reason they chose not to use. It would presumably be at Karnak with the other mythril gear and it's only stronger than the flail by a few points, but it would have helped a bit. There are very few of these "dummy" items in the game's code, the cursed shield that gives lots of def but has like 1% chance to block is the only other one I can think of offhand.
Y'know, on that Crystals fight, I was looking for a good catch/release monster for a Beastmaster run I was doing, and I found a monster that released Almagest. So imagine my shock when it did nothing; I can't believe that Almagest is Holy, AND the Crystals are immune to Holy. Just why.
The idea with the crystals is that each one absorbs its own crystal element and is immune to elements that aren't one of the four crystal elements. Also if you want a good catch/release for them the Landcrawlers in the Gloceana desert do Maelstrom which can potentially knock multiple down to single digit HP at once (just be ready to finish them off with whip attacks so you don't die to AoE spam).
My next point would then be, how come WE'RE not immune to Holy and those other elements? Pretty wack, if you ask me. Also yeah I did end up doing the Maelstrom thing, but I had to do it a few times to get the move to hit more than 2 crystals.
@@sertiana2512 Just because it's possble doesn't mean it was even remotely considered. The fact that this game even lets you get multiple copes of endgame equipment was probably more use to the thief job more than the idea that people would be running 5 of the same job.
