This series is iconic story telling. It's somewhere between "choose your own adventure" and "speed run jrpgs" but it's FFV as well. Well done with this series, you absolute legend!
The entire game is just holding out for holy world 1 and 2 are gonna be ultra tedious and hard. Protect, shell and blink might make things easier but that damage is rough
White mage is cake if you don't mind spending some time grinding. I've beaten 5 with every single job, and some really REALLY awful combinations due to playing in the Four Job FIesta for the last decade. 4 Mimes is the absolute hardest since your entire damage output is breaking rods. At least said rods are basically infinite since you only need to break 1 per battle.
Ninja is a pretty efficient job with tools for everything, if you can afford the stuff to throw of course. Is a little sad that their Dual-Wield becomes extremely weak with the poor weapon options later on, but is brutal when you give Dual-Wield to another Melee job. Good job bro, only 8 more jobs to finish your FFV runs.
@@Nowaylarry yeah, you need to grind Ninja like crazy, then Ranger and finally get Mimic to put both skills + any mastered weapon you have (probably Bows at that moment)
Ninja is a weird grind. Black Flames die to one Water Scroll, so it's turn efficient to grind like that. I buy as many as I can when Lix opens up, kill some Flames. Max out on Water Scrolls and auto-battle till I run out. That money should carry me through to Kelb, where I can stock up on Lightning Scrolls. Those should 2-shot the statues in Galuf's basement. A few minutes of auto-battling there solves any money issues for the rest of the game. They are one of the more money hungry jobs in the game, but they're really good at clearing out ramdon encounters.
Woohoo!!! 🎉 Another backlog buster of FFV !!! I got the game and then shortly after the platinum trophy after watching your first few episodes of this series Freakin love this game it rlly got me into final fantasy
And here I thought Samurai would have been the most expensive job with Zeninage. The cost investment for Ninja is ridiculous. That Omniscient censor was pretty darn funny.
Ninja is nicely crafted to handle pretty much everything the game throws at you. The only issue is money for physical throws, I too like to get all the loot and throw the kitchen sink in tough fights. With a mage ability, the scrolls do a lot more damage and can save you a lot of money since they're so cheap. How dare you criticize Krile's ninja outfit, it's the best one! Shuriken hairpin ftw. Downvoted for not assassinating Minotauros by throwing the assassin dagger /s. Seriously though, that's really fun with a strong mixed party. Props to you for not overleveling at the end to win this time, GG!
Oh god thank you for the flashbacks of leveling Nin to 37 in ffxi. Even PLD wanted to sub NIN at endgame so I needed to blow so much gil to get that job up. I remember being 17 and skipping school to farm gil to level that damn job… All being said it was a very fun job to play just so expensive.
Love this series. Also feel your pain about FFXI Ninja. The tools, the Ichi and Ni spells being so expensive, the job being basically a requirement as a subjob. What a struggle.
I believe Ninja is considered the optimal Job for speed-running FFV. Granted these "Can You Beats" aren't speed-runs, but the Ninja versatility still shines through especially the time saving value of Smoke Bomb. Throw might be the most consistently powerful ability in the franchise, and yet I tend to ignore it in my own playthroughs. It's a different form of the Elixir Effect, I guess.
Speedruns use, amongst others, Knight (for guard against Garula), Thief (vigilance, steal, flee, run) Black Mage (Thunder for Karlaboss), Blue Mage (goblin punch, LV5 death, dark spark, death claw), Mystic Knight (break and aga spellblades), Ninja (throw and dual wield), Mediator/Beastmaster (control for prototype, catch/release for Ifrit, Sand Wurm and Archeoavis), Bard (hide for Twintannia), Samurai (gil toss, parry, equip the masamune) and Chemist (Mix)
Heh, "Elixir Effect" does really describe it, doesn't it? I think that even now I can count the amount of times that I've thrown weapons that aren't usable only via Throw on one hand over all _Final Fantasy_ games.
I do love the fact that FF has a character named Edge, but it's short for his full name Edward Geraldine and he's the comic relief. (I know "edgelord" wasn't a thing in 1991 but still.)
Hopefully one day the stars will align and we see Oracle only run Sorry, couldn't resist. This is the last time I joke about Sealed Temple job, I promise
In the snes and GBA version there was an oversight that when you skip a twin lance in the first slot and the chicken knife in the second slot it would never activate flee, but it was patched in pixel remaster
31:20 I think you accidentally made an editing error as there appears to be a giant ninja graphic blocking your party of smaller Ninjas and definitely not Black Mages!
Interestingly enough the Byblos fight is actually pretty easy if you get more Flame Scrolls. You get them from the enemies in the Ship Graveyard(Mindflusher), which is also good to get some Elixirs too. It being early game also means not much EXP but considering the minimize grinding, understandable to not do it. Ninjas so good they're 1 half of the broken Job Setup (The other is Ranger).
Honestly that berserk was a blessing in disguise. Neo Ex-Death would've taken much longer. The fight probably could've been easier if u had a stockpile of fuma shuriken since they were dealing a ton of damage, but ninja like samurai is a true pay to win job, lol.
I figure the closest we are getting to a Warriors of Dawn game was having all four of them, only three if you’re a US player, in Opera Omnia, until it was inflicted with the fatal status effect that is End of Service.
Of all the jobs in this game, geomancer is the one I'm the most curious to see how it goes in terms of all the content. Mainly cause it's funny to imagine bonking someone to death with a bell
A friend of mine recently did an all Geomancer run, it's painful but not as rough as you might think. There are a couple big boss hurdles like Sol Cannon and Atomos, but the job is good at grinding in certain places and bells have some cool niche uses.
If you spam the magic lamp sometimes it duplicates. Its some weird interaction where the magic lamp like temporarily removes itself from your inventory when its getting used. Its nothing to worry about.
@@BacklogBuster That is actually very cool. As FFV lover I only rushed achievements on the PR version as GBA is so much more fun, never seen this happen.
The money woes were giving me flashbacks to having 2 Fighters and 2 Red Mages in FF1. Everywhere you go there's more to buy. Lenna going Berserk was magnificent. NeoExdeath is the boss battle that keeps on giving. Wait, what? Levels lost from Old came back after a revive? That's new.
The Cannoner is similar to the Alchemist in that he can combine cannon ammunition to cause different types of effects, has high damage and is fragile. Gladiator has access to heavy armor, shields and a good variety of weapons and each character has the element corresponding to their crystal so the elemental attack varies according to the immunity of the enemy. The class is good because of the variety of equipment and the damage it does, but the !finisher command is just as random as the !dance command. Necromancer is similar to Summoner. Defeat certain enemies and gain their powers with no multi-hit penalty and a low mp. It's a very strong class, but it has the defect that the character has the undead passive, which is the same as equipping a bone mail, so you can't recover with potion, white magic and elixir. Oracle has high magic but all the other status are bad and the effect of the class is put a curse that causes a random effect after a while the effects vary from strong to weak and several do not work on enemies with the heavy flag a mediocre class in the post game but has abp up which can be useful for grind classes.
Did the pixel remaster fix the Twin Lance exploit where secondary abilities don't trigger on your off hand weapon if your primary weapon is the twin lance?
@@Clouded-Logic Never checked twin lance but I know with other knives it works fine, and ffv PR fixed a lot of bugs so I'd bet twin lance is good now. Well, good is relative lol, now you'll get to combo it into *mystery waltz*
So what you're saying is the next playthrough will include approximately 8 days running Omniscient out of MP, and trying for a rare steal with the Thief Knife then resetting?
Only worth it with a thief, for this 4-ninja team you can just buy twin lances in Mirage town after the pyramid. That's where the thief knife is that you'd need to steal anyway. Putting the gold boost on and farming the statues with thunder scrolls for cash would fix money problems quickly without gaining levels though.
@dryzalizer He made a comment that he could only buy it. I was just pointing out that it was available in another place. That could potentially free up gil for other things and simultaneously get a couple extra levels if needed. But if gil and exp isn't an issue, buying them is absolutely the better option.

WM is easily going to be the longest and highest level run. Even just getting WM on a 4JF run adds an hour+ to the start of the game.
"The serious lack of endgame weapons hurts like crazy"
The developers really did just assume they'd be using someone else's endgame weapons huh.
