Regardless of what music genre you like, sometimes you have to give credit where credit due. Perfect slice of pop ballad this
Are you deaf?
Really? This is clearly a 10cc wannabe but soppier
Trevor Horn produced this gem.... flawless 80's pop.
Sheer pop perfection, sound, song ,production,, vocals, image .Well done Trevor Horn and Dollar.
Great songs from a nice time in life
Trevor Horns very own 'I'm not in Love' perfect inspiration.
I was 19 when this came out in the uk in 82........ I wish I could go back in Time and change such a very Important part of my life..........I wish to god that i could but I can't and I'm so so sad...........God bless b kind to each other ❤ love animals ❤ and yourself ❤ 😊
At least we lived through those fabulous times and they made some wonderful memories for all of us. I feel so sorry for all of you who never experienced the 80s simply magical
Wow! This is amazing. Pure class. Shame we don't have great tunes like this anymore. Dollar reunion please x
She is absolutely stunning ❤❤
i still fancy her big time xx
So pretty , and she looks good too !
Brought up on 70s music, but the 80s had some great tunes....
❤❤ sweet memories from younger days 2024 stay strong stay positive stay safe everyone takecare becareful ❤❤
This was an amazing song so underrated.
This brought tears to my eyes, what a wonderful beautiful song.
❤ this song when it came out in 1982..i was turning 19 that year...now ive just turned 60 an i still ❤ it.
Snap
She was soo beautiful, very catchy songs.
This is simply perfect; one of the best pop songs ever written and an all time favourite of mine. There is such sincerity in David's vocal and as ever Thereza compliments him perfectly with her effortless beauty and wonderful harmonizing. Music really doesn't get any better than this, its incredible.
Are you deaf??
Yes I feel they were never given enough credit for the beautiful voices alone and those harmonies were gorgeous! So so gorgeous both of them ! When I was younger they were my dream couple . But I still love all their music when t in my car driving. Damn fab music ! They should have been so so much bigger than they were!
À
Agreatsong
1982 till now 2024 ❤❤
beautiful song. The bit where DVD is sitting at Crewe Station (which isn't really but just a sign) signifies someone saying goodbye maybe for the last time. A beautiful timeless classic song
Trevor Horn effortlessly proving why he is an elite tier pop producer.... all his trademarks are here. Fabulous record.
And Trevor sings the final part.
1982 loved the lo fi feeling of this .... 16 back then all my mates and girlfriends loved this ... such a classic song 😎✌️.
❤ the 80's
Fades out just at the wrong moment when that unexpected ending kicks in.
This song is why I miss the 80’s 😍😍😍
I highly agree, today’s junk puts me to sleep
Totally agree
Totally agree
I miss the 80s too but remember ,you can still listen to the 80s forever!
Lovely heartbeat bass and airy perfumed vocals.
?
Nice imagery!
Cracking tune in less complex times.
Dollar were great but Trevor Horn's use of the Fairlight here and his overall production is superb.
Spot on.... the music press snobs hated Dollar despite Horn's maestro production, which is elite tier.
Perfect love song, It was my and my boyfriend's song when we fell in LOVE all that time ago.
beautiful therese
Take me back to 1982...
Love this underrated song
They were massive here in the UK 🇬🇧 back in the early 80s.., previous to dollar they were in a 70s group called Guys and Dolls..
I am a Dollar fan but they were not massive. They had some success but not that much compared to a lot of other bands in the UK charts.
David Van Day went on to Bucks Fizz. They were great, but not massive. I loved them tho xx
We’ve all been where this great song is taking you. The 80’s you did everything so so well. I miss those years every day of my life.
i was even born in the eighties and i can tell you myself the eighties were a mistake
@@scurus11scurus That’s because if you were born in the 80’s you probably didn’t start to appreciate music till the 90’s or early 2000’s. I was born in the 60’s and didn’t appreciate music till the 70’s.
@@AUTORECOVERYUK touché, well said
This will always remind me of my teenage love sadly gone now x walking around the Arndale centre manchester arm in arm xx❤
Give me back my heart, that's all I have to live for
What a beautiful song by a brilliant and great dollar
They are a great band in the 80s
40years feels like it was yesterday 👏👏
I just discovered the song this afternoon, ever since I kept listening to it until now ! Like a 3 hundred times !
year 40 so need doc brown and de lorean as time machine great sott
oh shit this was a real song?
Dreamy early 80s pop at its best! great voices together, I did not half fancy Thereza when I was a young man, David and Theresa did fall out again and again, very stormy affair, I think she moved to Australia in the end. Anyway, a great Dollar album, with Pink and Blue and Mirror Mirror. I still have the singles and the album on LP when purchased at the music section in Woolworths. Great memories, thank you David and Thereza.
Miss those days the eighties were absolutely the best days ever music films tv fashion.
Miss those days the eighties were absolutely the best days ever music films tv fashion.
He was a total dick so she was well rid of him and yess what a beautiful woman x
Davidchant how could any man not fancy Thereza back in the day.She was so feminine and sexy at the same time.
they did team up again in a reality show when they amongst other pop stars such as Sonia & Mark Shaw of Then Jericho for a show
I really liked this song ♥️
Therese is so beautiful
He is beautiful too !!!
Great Trevor Horn production
This song really Buggled me when it first came out, although Thereza really gave me the Horn. Then I listened to the production and realised what a class record this was.
Yes.
Another City fan ☺️ Fantastic.
Guys n Dolls...beautiful..
Way Maker.✍️
Therese Bazaar beautiful sweet voice. Seeing her in Leeds in solo gig this year can’t wait. Love that Dave Day too my heart throb in the 80s but shush 🤫 haha ❤
As a 100% straight man, I can say I feel a bit gay for David Van Day.
@@ravenmad9225 that sounds funny coming from a 100% straight man but David Van Day was such a looker
Beautiful tune loved this group x
God i love this song from my childhood. ❤
Muitas saudades dos anos 70 e 80. Bons tempos.
Thank goodness we were able and had the chance
Remember roller skating to this when only couples were allowed on the rink at the end of the night, happy memories☺
Did that include gay couples?😂😂
🎉I love this song. thank you for posting. ❤️
Give me back the eigties
To show you goodnesses and Great .✍️
Yeah already amazing, then that key change💖
Brilliant, they should have even more successful
Love this song very much!
why?
Jesus she was soooo gorgeous old David was a lucky guy !
She was mad about him and he rebuffed her! In the end she went to live in Australia and had a family but I don't think she ever got over David. Think he ended up going off the rails anyway
He didn't know what he got till he lost her
She's touring the uk o' L'Amour tour
Deanstanley what on earth did she see in him.?
the best song 1982
The woman save the mount Vernon. ...✍️
Ahhh Dear Teenage Heartbreak.....
goddamn,. when that chorus hit fr
Like the song it's perfect a billion times over
NICE VERY NICE 🎶🔥🎶😎🙏
love 80s pop ax
Thereza is still a very handsom woman way above average i love this song and was my object of desire as i headead into my twentys now ime pushing 60 i looked her up and her voice and image is still very strong i coud put this on repeat the best one she produced in my opinion
You love someone else, that’s the reason I must let go. What about me ?
🌹😇🤟😢🙏
I'm not a fan of this band but after listening to this song, Mirror Mirror and Hand Held In Black and White they sound brilliant. I believe Trevor Horn did some of the producing :)
He was the main producer and it really shows in this and the other tracks you referenced. The Spector of 1980's production.
love this so much xx
Lovely song and lovely voices don't get this kind of music anymore 😂
Devuélveme mi corazón. (Hermoso)
Love it.
They are awesome.
Legends 😊
Seemed a bit bubble gum pop at time but listening to their stuff now, its terrific
Agree. I miss it!
We’re all now appreciating these tunes more because the world has become so ugly, things that were deemed too nice to be cool back in the 80’s can now be seen for what they actually were, fantastic pieces of pop music.
Nice song
First time I have seen this video.
I think the 10cc references are due to the vocal layering. It was the first time done with a sampler AFIA, 10cc was with multiple long tape loops one for each note and the mixing desk was riden live, expanding on some comments below, Trevor Horn in Sound-on-Sound:
"One of the first really interesting things we did that blew me away, was we sampled Thereza Bazar going 'aahhhh' and 'la! la!' And we used that on Dollar's 'Give Me Back My Heart' and it worked perfectly. What was clever about what we did, though, was that Thereza Bazar didn't just sing into the machine, we made up the samples. We 16-tracked her for every note. This was still in the days of analogue tape, and we bounced it down so we had a beautiful bed that was 16 tracks of her, across the range of an octave or whatever. And JJ [JJ Jeczalik co-founder of Art Of Noise] disappeared into the back room and he spent weeks with her voice - [expletive] weeks! - and finally he wheeled it out and we played her onto the track. It was one of those fantastic evenings where I had to phone Thereza up and say 'Thereza, you won't believe it but we've put your backing vocals in from the Fairlight.' She didn't really know what we were doing, but when she heard it she loved it. How could you not love it? It was so good!"
@DollarOfficial do you remember the call?
Great track, as time goes buy it sounds more classic, a hallmark of quality and innovation
Trevor Horn is the Phil Spector of the 1980's, his production style is instantly recognisable like the Wall of Sound was in the 1960's. They both really understand the power of pop music, creating theatrical drama in their records. For me, Trevor's work on ABC's "Poison Arrow" from Lexicon of Love is a perfect example. It has a bombastic almost operatic intensity.
not heard this for years
Hello to Every body
Nice video! Thank you for uploading👌
A great love story
Beautiful dollar sad that they split as a couple I always thought they looked beautiful together 😪❤❤❤
They did but David was clearly more in love with himself😅
Cracking song. Once heard, never forgotten. A masterpiece.
Grrrreat hairdo's🤩
All story is heavenly father Tell me for dollars. Battle .I am real ..and I am alive.......✍️
Quite,an emotional video
amazing vidoe
Привет с Алтая.Красиво.Удачи.
I've never heard of this duo before! The music kinda reminds me of Jem and the Holograms!
They came from a cheesy 70s band called Guys & Dolls and were an actual couple for a time as well.
@@kdp8133 Couple of competitive religiosities? Did they reunite happier oneness goals in real life, or only artistically? Probably best for my sensitivities if I can hear them in an additional replay. Some commenter is reminded of artists, Holograms? Simply not enough me for binging on UA-cam’s smorgasbord feasts!
You are kinda in a chemically altered state, right ?
Great Stuff!
Back when you knew women were women.. where are the stunningly beautiful women now??
There are some good lookers but 99.9% have lost their femininity.
Brilliant in 70s ❤
82
This was the first song ever to use computerised voice samples where every note of the female singer's' voice had been programmed into the Fairlight Computer Sampler. Trevor Horn was the producer.
Far out! :)
And what fun and fascinating it was recoding this as well.
Of course it was Trevor, ahead of his time. I hate this kind of music tho.
@@theresaakins2317 Do you like Trevor Horn's more upbeat songs like The Look Of Love by ABC?
Why was the ending chopped off ? It is so great.
I know, that annoyed me too.
What happens
@@MyBiddie Thereza goes into a kind of angelic chorus.
@@lewisner ahh yes I remember now
Taylor Swift and Dollar we love you ❤
❤❤❤❤❤
🎉🎉🎉🎉
❤❤❤❤
👍👍
The follow up Videotheque didn't do as well strangely. Trevor Horn's stamp is all over that one too with the voice sampling.
OH SHT THS S FYE
Ooooo oooo David
She looks at him in utter disgust 😂
Not disgust the girl was besotted with DVD.
I love this song. Was it a B-side to Oh L'amour or what? I think Dollar did a surprisingly good remake of Erasure's big hit, almost better than the original in some way.
Not a B side but a single :)
I loved the Erasure original but Dollars was even better.
