1980s till now still a master piece xx
One of the most underrated songs…..ever
I love it. This is more 80s than the 80s
I agree😊
Had my first kiss to this song
😘 🎶 🎶 🎶
I am happy when I listen this song !! Great great song !
All fantastic songs 😊😊
loved her big time xxxxx cor
This song is awesome!!
Yes indeed 🙂 hearing it on the car advert brought back great memories 🙂
One of my absolute favourites. Prefer this to the Erasure original. I think many do xx
David Van Day is legend no matter what any of you say in spite of him
😅
This song on advert now Like a lot of 1980s song
Well done on winning RWC2023 Dave....Brill....Bokke...Bokke...Bokke...
Erasure wins! They're laughing all the way to the bank when folks can't write their own songs.
Vince Clark and Andy Bell are visionary geniuses.
Love Erasure. But, this version better
Yes. I like Erasure's version more.
both versions are euro trash pop. catchy and cheesy.

1981..❤️
Interesting. Erasure did a lot of covers, but this was their original song - and it took merely one year (1986-1987) untill somebody (Dollar) made a cover.
A true masterpiece by. Earuser
It was just yesterday where are you where are you my world
You right..🤩
# 1 in the US singles chart ...
No. 7 On The UK Singles Chart ( 1987 )
# 7.
Nope they only had one hit that dented the US Charts their first hit Shooting Star that was at 74
And that was in 78
Way off wae tht comment not even close dollar with a US no 1 hit u serious haha
Life is all memory
I always thought the Erasure original version is too muffled the notes don't stand out with clarity, this improves on that
Yes. It's a lovely clean mix isn't it? Good separation.
This is actually better than Erasure
Now you know where Kylie Minogue got the influence from.
I think once a person is set-up to become a musical performer and hits some basic fane. That when there shop life is over. They still need that attention.
Good boyfriend and girlfriend song.
David's actual girlfriend was the dark haired girl bending to pick up a pebble off the beach. David and Therese hated each other on the day. I know cus I am in the video.
easily the best version.
Personally, I prefer Erasure's version.
This is good though.
Nope,Erasure's is 😊
Always loved this better than Erasure version despite little difference between them....if only I could go back to 1987 ...childhood memories
Nice version, but Erasure's the best, Andy Bell's voice is unique!
Nope!
Yes!
Great song filmed in Brighton
Actually, I think it was filmed on Hastings Pier rather than Brighton though.
@@brucedanton3669 I don't think the Normans would have approved of Dollar. Good job they turned up in 1066 and not 1988 otherwise they might have legged it back to Normandy.
ITS HASTINGS OLD PIER LOOK AT THE BACKGROUND WHEN IT SHOWS OUR OLD TOWN
@@sophiafakevirus-ro8cc Yes I see of course there then too-thank you!
Around the 1:14 mark it looks like Teresa says "vasn't" and not "wasn't".
Great version of the song though.
The sleeve design and photography for this release was the most stunning of their career, which makes it that much more surprising to find out, all these years later, that the video was a cheap and dissapointing affair. What a missed opportunity. It was a very impressive idea to cover Oh L'amour and the result was a brilliant pop single. They should have tried harder with the video, to match the class of the packaging.
I was the other guy in this video. I'm intrigued to know what you mean by a cheap and disappointing affair.
Agree. This equals any other the bigbands.
@@sophiafakevirus-ro8ccgrainy footage of people fooling around on a pier, as opposed to a studio set up with flattering lighting and extensive post-production. They don't come off great in the video- if they had combined the hand held, sloppy footage with beautiful studio close ups that could have made a lovely video. A nice finished product. This was several years after expensive, epic videos by the likes of A-ha, and when 'Oh L'amour' was released, artists like Rick Astley or Bananarama to name a few, had immaculate-looking, slick and very impressive videos out in heavy rotation. Like I said in my original comment, alot of work went into the packaging and the advertisements for this single, and this is why the video left me wanting more. A Great single nevertheless.
@@loiteringwithintent461 We spent a day on Hastings pier, in the cold, damp and grey. The Dollars pretended to like each other, but were both incredibly grumpy and demanding. I was an extra, we wandered around, pretending to be friends enjoying the day out. That's all there was to it, a phoney pop video for two phoney people.
I love both versions but Dollers voice resonates far beyond Erasure eventhough i love that band Dollar makes the song a 1000 times better, it's daunting.
Not a bad cover, but Erasure's original is much better for me. David has a good voice, but he is like "reading" the lyrics. Not touching at all. Andy sings every word very emotional.
Oh l'amour
Oh l'amour
Mon amour
What's a boy in love
Supposed to do?
Oh l'amour
Broke my heart
Now I'm aching for you
Mon amour
What's a boy in love
Supposed to do?
Looking for you
You were looking for me
Always reaching for you
You were too blind to see
Oh, love of my heart
Why leave me alone?
I'm falling apart
No good on my own
Oh l'amour
Broke my heart
And now I'm aching for you
Mon amour
What's a boy in love
Supposed to do?
Why throw it away?
Why walk out on me?
I just live for the day
For the way it should be
There once was a time
Had you here by my side
You said I wasn't your kind
Only here for the ride
Oh l'amour
Broke my heart
And now I'm aching for you
Mon amour
What's a boy in love
Supposed to do?
No emotional ties
You don't remember my name
I lay down and die
I'm only to blame
Oh, love of my heart
It's up to you now
You tore me apart
I hurt heard inside-out
Oh l'amour
Broke my heart
And now I'm aching for you
Mon amour
What's a boy in love
Supposed to do?

😂 Written by
Andy Bell [GB1], Vince Clarke in 1986 and this version is from 1987!
The original never got airplay.
80's DJs were notorious for loving the sound of their own voices.
Plus commercial radio stations could only play 6 hours of music daily!
Memories of playing this to the pub crowds back in 2005-2006 come flooding back....the dance floor was NEVER empty.....
good times back then can't be repeated best time of my life
This is much better than the erasure version
Love this song.... I was a child when it came out but it's one that left an impression still love it to this day. The 80s was a great time for music ❤️

Still a great song after all this time 🙂 David was gorgeous 😉
The 80's was music. Period. Different sounds all the time. I was 8 in 1980. Still my favorite decade for music. So fun, and different.
@@livetotell100 Totally agree.... I'm so glad I had my childhood in the 80s, it was a great time for movies too. Brilliant decade!
I only discovered this 3 weeks ago, I can't get enough of it 😂. Born in the wrong era man.
I left school, aged 16, in 1987 and went onto a Youth Training Scheme (YTS) and immediately fell for a girl on one of the courses. Sadly that didn't work out but I remember this song fondly because of it.
The year I turned 9 my family travelled by car from Eidsvoll (close to the capital Oslo) and all the way to Nordkapp (the furthest northern point in mainland Norway). To accompany us on the trip was a casette with comedy sketches interspersed by the pop-music of the time. For a couple of weeks this was the soundtrack of my life. Nostalgic to hear it again, for sure.
Man, It should be STILL the soundtrack of your life. Whatever happens. Don't forget the music that made your live. Let's keep listening.... (and sorry about my grammar, I'm learning)
@@sergiojaviercastrotorres1902 I just found out this was a cover version of an Erasure song, so you live and learn something new every day. Don't worry about your grammar, it can't be perfect from the start.

Very good and a tribute to Mr Bell and his team from the 1980s 2:27
Amazing Dollar were still having hits 10 years after they started. They survived the early 80s british pop explosion where tehy coulda got buried under all the acts. But few of those huge superstar groups could still have hits in the late 80s. Dollar had a very rollercoaster ride career with like 3 waves of success. They didnt really have stability they had to fight for every hit.
@@isotopia7681 they just made great pop music that still holds up. I dont think they ever had a strong fanbase, sold albums, big concerts, or made any money. Just great pop singles. Their trevor horn singles are 80s masterpieces.
I always liked dollar.

But yeah Eurasia was better
@@NeilCWCampbell Eurasia? You mean Erasure? I like both but Dollar better.
@@en6278 100% agree. I have been a fan since the early eighties. It annoys me that they have often been derided when the hits and so many of their other songs were so good, utilising the technology of the time to amazing effect. Without Trevor Horn's work with them the eighties might have turned out very differently and not as richly. He essentially created the eighties sound yet whenever he is credited with pushing the sonic boundaries of what the technology could be made to do, Dollar is very rarely mentioned. The performance at the Princes Trust concert in 2004 is superb. I listen to a lot of music of various genres. The Dollar album remains one of the best albums of the last forty years in my book.
@@NeilCWCampbell David Van Day was punching-he was also a a rather good looking bloke-very confused by your comment!
