Gracias!!
Hi Olivier, That is how I do mine. I don't believe in tearing the off a mount. I also make the roots look for water. Glad to see I am doing it right since your plants are all gorgeous 😍 😁👍
It looks nice mounting on woods, and wow you even dont put moss onto it. Real daily care needed. I would like to but gosh i am afraid if in certain day i have to travel and without moss, they would dry... and do you always buy cattleya in mature size? The first one look like still young..
It is indeed daily care. when established, cattleya’s will withstand a lot of drought though. It is when they are young that you have indeed to stay constantly on top of them. If you go away, you can add a pad of wet moss before you leave and remove it when you come back. Some of these plants are not mature size.
Good morning Mr. Olivier and I wanna say "well done" from italy!! Your video are very interesting and I would have a question....during your video you talk about an orchid shop in brazil. Is it possible have their site and mail? Do uou know that they ship to Italy. I'm in love whit cattleya and I try to find Aclandiae. Thank you so much and have a great day!!
Buongiorno dal' America! There are 2 great vendors in Brazil that I know: Floralia which I mention in this video. Steve Champlain info@floralia.com.br Bela Vista Antonio Schmidt belavista@bvorchids.com.br I cannot tell you if they ship to Italy but I am pretty certain Floralia does as they participate in Orchid Shows in Germany Spero che lei trovera una Cattleya aclandiae
Unfortunately, the couple who made those beautiful mounts from recycled cypress wood and driftwood from Central Florida retired. If you live in South Florida, MAC's orchids carries some but you have to go to his nursery and he does not sell online. RF orchids has some in store as well. Cork is usually readily available at local orchid supply stores and some may have some nice pieces of wood mount as well.
Joyeux Noël 🎄. I live in Sarasota and my problem with mounted orchids is I don’t know how I can hang them inside my lanai in a “nice” way. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Joyeux Noël pour toi également! One of the issues with mounted orchids is indeed to have appropriate ways to hang them. I use different techniques. 1) I use "S Hooks" of all sizes (6", 12", 18", 24", 30") that I hang everywhere I can find a suitable spot for and then I can hang my mounted orchids on them. "Hang-a-pot" sold by a gentleman in your neck of the woods is a terrific product that you can anchor on the wall to clip a clay pot on but this gives you an opportunity to mount an orchid using an "S hook". hangapot.com/ 2) I have 1 "pergola" and 1 canopy where I can put a lot of mounted plants on. Again, I sue the "S Hooks" and you can "stack" plants vertically by using a short S Hook and a long one. 3) I also use coated shelving units whose sides I can hang plants on (on the upper shelf mostly) 4) On the video, you see the wood "guillotine" that I had built for that exact purpose; hang as many plants as possible. Hopefully it will not collapse under the weight lol! 5) I have also attached curtain rods (made for outdoors) that are anchored on the wall with the appropriate anchor. Then you can hang mounted orchids on the rod. There are many ways to do it but the "S Hook" is a key ingredient in many instances. I will make a video over the coming days showing the various techniques I use. They may not all be "nice looking" but my growing area is an orchid jungle and meant to be like that. So it all blends in... orchids everywhere and you don't even see the mounts etc...
@@orchidhouse thank you so much for your quick and detailed answer. I have seen the “Hang-a-pot” guy but didn’t pay close attention because I thought it was just for pots. Right now, most of my mounted orchids and vandas are hanging on my beach towel rack but, come pooltime😱😱. I will try some of your suggestions. My husband would have been able to “build” me some accommodations unfortunately he passed away almost 2 years ago and I have been trying to console myself by getting more orchids😉. Thanks again.
@@bibicheknauf4163 Sorry to hear about your husband. I'll post a video this upcoming week to show you examples. And...yes orchids are good for our morale!
I order directly from Floralia (Steven Champlain) and Belavista (Antonio Schmidt). When there is the Tamiami show (mid May this year) or the Redlands Orchid SHow, I preorder form them and pick up at the show. You can send requests for price lists at: info@floralia.com.br belavista@bvorchids.com.br
