    That was a little tough to watch but you did a great presentation... Your vanda will thank you for it... 👍

    I just found your channel and find your shows to be so informative. Thank you! I’d love to see a show on that beautiful Den. Goldschmidtianum that I got a glimpse of while you were working on your repotting!

      Thank you~
      Well you have a very keen eye! It is indeed Dendrobium goldschmidtianum and it is my oldest orchid in my collection. The biggest bloom spurt is around January (too late now) but I'll have to make a video when it blooms again! Thanks for the suggestion.

      It looked beautiful and huge, but I’m sure I only saw a quarter of it! I love all orchids but partial to that Den. The color is so bright and warm in the dark of winter! ty

    Nice vanda. I hope she gives you many more years... keep us updated, and that beautiful den on your right can you do a video on it.

    You should have watered or soaked it before working on it. Roots are more pliable and less likely to break when they have absorbed sufficient amount of water.

      I had watered it one hour prior but by the time I was ready for the video, the roots were mostly dry/drier. You are right that I should have done it again at the start of the presentation as it is good practice and indeed helps with the whole operation.

      I am not sure what you are referring to. Roots that are alive should be kept

    Enjoyed watching your work with this Vanda. Do you grow any Lycaste? If so, can you do a brief video on growing them in south Florida?

    • @orchidhouse
      @orchidhouse  Рік тому

      Unfortunately as much as I would love to grow Lycaste, they are not suitable for South Florida outdoor growing. It is too hot for them here. I know they do need an extensive rest period but that is all I can tell you. Sorry

    Is that true for all orchid areal roots, when you get those breaks when it was never touched. Is it from thrips?

    • @orchidhouse

      On Vanda roots you can see thrip damage: the brown rings on various areas on the roots is past thrip damage
