Paraphalaenopsis (Pps.) are very slow growing plants that can take years to get fully established and bloom. I wanted to show you what to look for in terms of new growth in case you get impatient with yours and start wondering where to look for a new growth.
    Mine have not bloomed yet.
Pps. labukensis: I bought it 3 years ago and after one year to establish its roots, it started growing a new terete leaf which took 18 months to reach its full length (80 cm or 32"). There is another one growing right now.
Pps. laycockii: I bought it almost one year ago and it established itself fairly quickly. It is the fastest grower of them all. It has not bloomed yet but I am already growing a second leaf that just started. Hopefully flowers will soon follow...
There are only four species in this small genus and eventually, I want to get the other two as well: denevei and serpentilingua.
They grow on the island of Borneo and some are near extinction in the wild. These are HOT growers and night-time temperatures should ideally never go below 60 F or 15 C!!! They should not be allowed to dry for long and will take good light but not as high as vanda. If somebody has bloomed them yet and has other information on light level, feel free to share on this post.
