    Its scary to think people would leave out airbags and seatbelts. Being a young buck and just starting out with repairables I’m guilty of putting a washer or two under a fender bolt whole to get a perfect gap but I would never hack something that would compromise safety

    • @vehcor
      @vehcor  3 роки тому +2

      I can excuse the washers, these days most people won't even take the time to do that as they don't care about fitment. I don't mind wavy bondo or mismatched colors. That doesn't really affect safety or reliability. The welds, air bags, seat belts, straightening parts that shouldn't be, that stuff in inexcusable and dangerous.

    I enjoy your videos so much and see what to look for damage. I wish more body shops here in Georgia had your work ethic and attention to detail. Some body shops, that did good work, they got tired of dealing with insurance companies that nickel and dimed repair jobs, so they closed up. No you have body shops that are the "preferred" repair center. I have seen first hand how they do work. I could see sanding marks through the paint, runs, cloudy look to paint and after a few years the clear coat pealing from the window seal. They have a "lifetime warranty" on their repairs, so wondering how that will work. The insurance companies want repairs cheap so seems to be aftermarket parts find their way in the mix. I would rather have used OEM parts, properly repaired and painted like you use than some of aftermarket ones.

I took photos at the yard. Had it towed to the dealer. I was flabbergasted at the $7000 repair estimate. I went to the dealer to see what kind of drugs they were on.. It turns out the tow driver managed to bash the rear fender , break the side window, back window and cave in the tail gate. Showed the undamaged photos to the dealer and the insurance co. You wouldn't believe how many people's standards are so low that they couldn't care less that the airbags are missing. Only thing that is important is that they got a new "ride". I think this is the first video of yours that I've watched. I was thinking the car should be totaled, it couldn't be worth fixing like an insurance job, the repair cost would exceed the vehicle value. As I watched, I realized you get needed parts from your stash, or buy similar complete wrecked vehicles for parts source. Pretty clever and interesting how you work.

    • @vehcor

    What scares me is there are a lot of guys buying salvage vehicles doing the bare minimum and throwing the back up for sale to some poor buyer that has no idea. I always tell people if your looking at buying a salvage vehicle take i to a collision shop if you dont know anyone who knows about fixing cars after an accident and have them look it over, because if there are issue they will spot them and if it s minor they tell you, if its major and your safety in that vehicle going down the road is in peril they will tell you and it will be the best few hundred bucks you will ever spend especially if it is a rolling nightmare
    I love these videos of yours, its always interesting to see how bad some rebuilds are and how much they tried to hide or in the case of this one just didnt care just slap it together and get it done. Really makes me wonder how some states allow some of these on the road... but when you know which states have holes in the system, its easy to game it

    If this vehicle had been in another side impact after whoever has done this first repair, there would've been no airbags to go off, probably no seatbelt lock, and depending on the structural integrity of their repair, it may have just crumpled like a soda can. Now imagine this making the news after someone is killed because of how improperly this was repaired. This is the type of stuff that will eventually make the governments try to ban things like Copart and UA-cam builders from being allowed to buy and repair vehicles on their own. And its probably a viewer on here that has done this bullsh*t repair, claiming that they "rebuild" wrecks.
    At least Vehcor will redo it all correctly.

    Let's be sensible and honest, buying a rebuilt car, and a "new" car are two bets in which you either win or lose! A rebuilt car, where those responsible do a good job, has tools and knowledge, they cannot pay for those who do a terrible job, only aesthetics, just masking problems !! As for the "new", if you take a sample, example: 1000 cars, at least 1 or 2, can give serious problems. Presenting it to the manufacturer, he even gives you another one, as long as it is under warranty !! The Camaro ZR1, from GoonzSquad, has a broken gearbox! It was all redone, but the problem arose. Every sale has a guarantee. But one thing needs to be made clear too: 90% of a car's problems are between the driver's seat and the steering wheel !!!

I currently have D & Ridgid (I think they are close to to the beer place) I have picked up many of my tools used at pawn shops and the beer place tools are starting to show up there and I either buy new battrees or get them rebuilt or shock them to wake them up and remove the memory.

    Just watch "Post Repair Inspection" videos. Some show where a person would be at risk of losing their life in a future wreck due to shortcuts being used! What is more unsettling, is the fact Insurance Reject repaired vehicles are auctioned on a regular basis at the salvage auction. There is a website, ($4.99 for 1 vehicle, I believe) will show you the damage from previous wrecks, and how much it sold for at auction. If he says I can promote another site here, I will name it.
