#94, color your sockets before doing your quality. Quality increases the likelihood that items innately have, so no quality items will be more likely to hit off colors.
On the part about rolling socket colours - if someone wants to craft item they should roll reduced stat requirements on item and then hit it whit chromes. That way you increase chance to roll offcolour sockects. Its a bit advanced tip, but it something that actually works
@@marksutherlandjr.2121 well it worked for me whit socket colours. Since league is currently over you can test it yourself in standard league by pure str/int/dex chest and try rolling reduced stats and then roll offcolours
My tip: Put your main ability on something like E and not your right mouse button. That will save a lot of hand strain and is just a lot more comfortable imo
Definitely, I even put walk on spacebar. LMB is a good place to put something with instant cast that should be activated repeatedly anyways, like a warcry or guard, and RMB for location-specific skills.
Another useful tip, maybe already mentioned. With the affinities and storage tabs in general. You can set up everything you want on standard before a new league and when you start a new league all those settings will be saved and carried over as to not have to set them everytime.
You have been a huge help for me this past couple weeks getting myself back in line with everything POE as we approach this next league - haven't played since Expedition so lots to catch up on. Really appreciate your knowledge and delivery!
Poe is amazingly complex. Despite being a beta veteran with over 15k hours played, today i learned that rogue trinkets can have incubators and can work for mapping. I mean i've been maining both legion and heist since they came out, so I dont know how I managed to overlook this interaction for years. This is good stuff Palsteron. I hope you one day make a dedicated list of advanced tips focused on the most obscure aspects of the game.
Lilly in your hideout also lets you trade in divination cards nowadays. I like to use the second/third ability bar (ctrl/alt) with vaals skills. Having one skill at one key and pressing the same keey + str for the vaal version helps easing my mind a little.
@@kiki-wc1oj Last league I think. Vendors will just keep their inventories static for more than 1 level now. Just check them every 3-4 levels, I'm not actually 100% sure when they refresh.
2 Tips That I may add specially for experienced players: - You can buy items with " + level of all ...gems" from NPC even in act 1 for just 1 transmute, Might not be for speed runners but it gives a lot of power boost for spell casters. You can search in NPC trade "level of all" then it will highlight the item| side note both Wand seller NPC and Weapon Seller NPC sells items with this mod (Nessa & Tarkleigh in act 1) - In addition to tip 90 - You can Copy an item from trade to check power boost on your character by pressing the + icon on lower left when hovering on the image on trade.
I spent about 50-60 hours playing month or two after initial release and got hooked into playing HC with friends on Diablo 2. Kinda regret it, but also not because good friends are hard to come by Amir? However, that time away, playing game styles I've never played before like Heroes of the Storm and WoW, really improved my kiting ability and map awareness. Now that I have more tools/ideas in the box, this game is, well...a wet dream for those that want replayability and variety. I know you know this....because this kind of content takes thousands of hours of gameplay. I truly appreciate the efficiency.
Number 16 was also changed in crucial league, vendors no longer reset on level up, they will persist for a few levels now. Items now persist in a Vendors' shops for multiple levels, so that you have a chance to buy them before they vanish. Each time you level up, the oldest items are removed and some new ones are added. You can also now rarely find Rare items at Vendors.
Großartig. Das war viel Arbeit. Zuerst dachte ich: Naja, nach mehr als 10 Jahren POE, was soll da kommen? Aber es war natürlich doch was dabei. Grüße aus dem Norden Deutschlands.
Someone has probably already seen it but on tip 54 you had the same description then on tip 55. Both were called "Stash Tab Affinities". Besides that. Thank you very much for the video. :)
Regarding the Kirac Missions: The maps that Kirac sells reset every time you do a Kirac Mission, so you can use Kirac Missions to support your Atlas progression.
Gonna be alot of newer players this league. Timing on this video, and thoughtfulness to even put it together speaks volumes on Pal's character. Top notch 👌
small nitpick, for the chaos recipe only one of the items has to be in the chaos recipe item level range, the other ones can be even higher ilvl but not lower. this is good to know because higher ilvl items turn into a regal orb recipe but you also dont want to farm white maps all day just for the chaos recipe so just do higher lvl maps and keep a few lower ilvl pieces around.
This was crazy helpful, I started played back when there were only 5 acts and played up until the start of Bestiary but just started again and so much has changed. Thank you :)
If I may add one, There is a blight exploit which trivializes the mechanic. A Lvl 3 seismic in the circle of a LvL 3 empower (no higher) will perma stun all non immune enemies, then you can forget that direction them until the end.
wow, I did not know about ctrl-clicking vendors, mass-favouriting maps, right-clicking a map to zoom in on the atlas, or removing shrine effects. thank you!
Thanks for the vid. Some of these were way over my head, but the direct click on NPC for their immediate window is solid gold! Ugh, no more "God slayer..." quotes! Thanks!
Palsteron! Amazing video bro, you answered so many questions and many ah-ha moments throughout. Your TR Path Ballista build guide was the very first POE video I watched almost 3 months ago. I remember about 6 minutes in you lost me with all the terminology and stuff I'd never heard of. 100 hours of /played later and I have watched that video at least 4-5 times. Even with this one I was able to follow you for most of it. Lost me a little with the divergent/anomalous gem stuff. I guess I'm just saying thank you for the content and how awesome POE is in that you learn over time. It's like speaking a new language. Keep doing your thing!
Thought I would know everything but you got me with right clicking the map to locate it on the atlas. Also it's important to remember that binding orb always makes 4 sockets if the item allows it, so you could ruin your 5 or 6 link with it.
Ad. 80 There is a tool Poe Trade Companion. It will show you trade messages and enable you to bind prewritten messages like Thanks, Please Wait etc. And display overlay gui. Great stuff
2.5k hours and I didn't know tip 77 29:32 that you can horizon Shaper maps. Holy f-. Also grouping by seller, and seems I wasn't clear on flask stacking either, that was a good read after your tip. Thanks!
"Put bloom all the way down to 25% unless you want to wear glasses once you're 40." I just turned 40 and got glasses only 2 years ago. GGG DID THIS TO ME!
#1 The literal opposite happened to me. I followed a build guide my first time because that's what everyone told me to do (it was a toxic rain build), but I did not enjoy the game. I was getting far, I got into yellow maps effortlessly, but I did not understand the intricacies of how the game works or why my build was effective, my brain was just doing what the build told me to do without putting a second thought into it, after all, it was working, why question it? But what use is the boundless complexity and the sandbox of different systems in this game if I'm not going to mentally engage with any of it? I felt no reward, no accomplishment, no sense of engagement with the game. Later on, a year later, I tried playing on my own, and instead of following a build guide, I learned Path of Building, and later on learned to filter characters in PoE Ninja to get an idea of how other players were playing the stuff I *chose* to use. That was a mind blowing experience, and immensely more rewarding. That is when I fell in love with the game, and could see the complexity as a boon rather than a hostile obstacle to overcome. PoB taught me the mechanics of the game, taught me how different things interacted with each other, and PoE Ninja pointed me in the right path when I had doubts on where I should take my character. My first couple of characters were not that great, but they were functional, I got into red maps, I had IMMENSE fun with the game, and pretty much half of that time was spent outside it, theorycrafting things in PoB, which was fun in and on itself. AFTER going through those first few characters, something interesting happened. I looked at build guides and I started *understanding* them, beyond a template to copy. I then started using build guides and enjoying the game even more. Like I said, the opposite, the complete other way around. I had to learn the game *before* I got enjoyment out of using build guides. I realize I'm not "most people", I realize most people want results first, and worry about the process later, because today's world is all about efficiency and minmaxing your time. But I thought I'd post it to show that this is not a 100% rule, I'm certain there are others who would much rather find reward and satisfaction in learning the game from the ground up (PoB, wiki, poe ninja, lots of research, lots of trial and error) BEFORE they succeed at it, even if that means bricking a few characters and starting over, but with newfound knowledge that will get you further and further each time. If that process sounds frustrating to you, follow a build guide, but if it sounds fun, give it a second thought. I also think if you are like me and enjoy theorycrafting and learning mechanics and game systems, this game will be one of the best you'll ever play.
#2 I'd consider SSF way before anyone considers HC. SSF is amazing to learn the game, but it will, just like my method above, slow down the process too. SSF will just force you to engage with game systems that you'd be able to ignore in trade, including multiple league mechanics. So maybe start in SC but "graduate" to SSF instead of HC if you want to move on from SC. SSF is a real game changer, while HC is just asking to have your time wasted for no gain.
Same. Everyone wants to get there fast. I don’t want to and won’t follow a guide my first time, I want to see what I did wrong and what I got right and I promised myself I’m not gonna give up just because of the skill tree. Be simply aware that your first time(s) won’t be that great and be patient. I want to learn on my pace instead of being locked into something. I want to understand the mechanics, paths and nodes I take, without mindlessly following a guide like a grad schooler. I‘m happy that someone is the same way! Btw. Want to explore together?
@@steel5897 Yeah, i usually recommend new players to ignore most systems except the core game (like alva, niko etc.) and just play the game however they like to play, explore it and enjoy it. Not only is the game pretty cool at the start imo but the only downside to that is reading through the description of 8 skill gems that are each 40 lines long and mention stuff one does not know sadly. Also, new players without stash tabs bought are SSF by default, because they cannot trade :D
to add on with tip 94 if you have a ton of jewelers and not that many chroms an easier method might be to jeveler it to 1 socket, make that red then craft on 1 and 1 socket with the bench until you have 4
It is nice to see a game that is so involved that even when an expert puts up a guide it is still confusing as hell! I feel like I would need 5 lifetimes to get a handle on this game but I have to say it is challenging to say the least. I just can't imagine the incredible depth of the game designers hats off to the developers.
"Unless you want to wear glasses when you're 40". Man, you really had to kick me while down. 42, played 11k hours on this, and I just got my first prescription, lol. Also, about 41, one thing that people don't look at is 'you cannot take reflected damage' sextants, which rolls quite a lot. I agree, try not to do reflect maps, but for something like SSF, and you corrupt a map to get completion and it rerolls to reflect, there are options for that.
Amazing video, i'll recommand when friends join poe in the future. Also thanks for the manacost tip, that should be enough for me to use the blessing. Learnt that enchantment can be crafted in the table, that saves a lot of clicking, thx for that too
thanks, great video :) you could add "Clicking the portal icon" (little blue one) when going for a trade with other players, that just easier then right click the left click :)
About number 41 with the Reflection mods on maps, if you play Slayer or Elementalist you will have the choice in your Ascendancy to skill full reflect immunity for either Elemental or physical reflect immunity (Slayer can give himself Phys ref. immunity and Elementalist Elemental ref. immunity) that can make mapping at the start MUCH MORE relaxing because you dont need to watch the map mods that hard again, note though that if you play a slayer that goes for elemental damage you can still one shot yourself with elemental reflect.
I agree with number 1, however, before going into a build guide, try playing the game without any help, see if you even like it, when i first started, i started playing without knowing anything, i got to act 6 and then couldnt go any further because i didnt understand resistances, only after having fun and getting to that point, i felt i wanted to really dive into the game, thats when i was searching all over for more info and what to do. I feel this is a good way of starting out if you are brand new.
#84 is massive for me. Had no idea you could input number (quickly), whenever I tried it I was always too slow but I swore I saw some video with someone getting it to work but I never could. Harvest juice is a PITA to sort with the slider omg
37:11 concerning #95 about buying things and no one responding: recently works but what I found to really increase my chances is look for anyone NOT from the US/UK. The other countries are more likely to be bots or playing in PC bangs.
For #3 I always link a skill to the left mouse such as bone armor you can do many different ones that will cast that skill continuously as it cools down very useful steel skin is another one
I actually knew most. 72 75 84 i didn't know but weren't all too major to me, but 91 is insane to know! I've been somewhat annoyed by that for ages and developed certain typing sentences for the mods i want to search for to quickly find them lol.
I would only suggest one difference in these amazing tips. I started on HC, and yes it was meaningful to die, but man. It hooked me. 2013 though. POE was in a different place.
I had no idea about ctrl+clicking vendors. Watching the video was worth it for that alone. One tip I would like to add is for Exiles that feel a lot of strain on their mouse hand. Put your main skill on your keyboard instead of rightclick. At first this might seem almost like blasphemy but if you are struggling with pains in your mousehand I highly suggest trying this out. It's going to feel weird for one session and after that it will be second nature. Putting my main skill on spacebar have been a gamechanger for me.
These are awesome. But I am dont know if I should be happy or sad that I already seem to know most of these, a lot of the smart ones like diving resistances from just thinking about it
To add to the "up to a day ago number 95" if you just click the time it was listed on the right hand side next to the persons name it will sort from the most recent first.
To add onto 1, something I told my friends: this games has extremely complex build making but also extremely complex content to explore, and if you fail the first one, the second will be very hard to experience. Grabbing a build guide will smoothen the learning curve so later you can go back to it and try out things on your own

I really didn’t know that! That’s actually incredibly useful
@@haikukillyou1971 its something i learned from Phox and i saved a lot of headache for rolling STR chest armors when i was crafting
That's smart bro
Damn does this work? Incredible if this is true
@@canine_coach space for flasks :)
Definitely, I even put walk on spacebar. LMB is a good place to put something with instant cast that should be activated repeatedly anyways, like a warcry or guard, and RMB for location-specific skills.
I put flasks on E, T, K, Z and M and I keep right click on my foot pedals
Another useful tip, maybe already mentioned. With the affinities and storage tabs in general. You can set up everything you want on standard before a new league and when you start a new league all those settings will be saved and carried over as to not have to set them everytime.
You have been a huge help for me this past couple weeks getting myself back in line with everything POE as we approach this next league - haven't played since Expedition so lots to catch up on. Really appreciate your knowledge and delivery!
To add on #83, You can also search the name of the pantheon god you need instead and it will highlight all maps that have upgrades for that god
or just play ruthless =D~~
#16 with the vendor stuff, there were a change where after level up only 25% items are replaced
Palsteron said miss me with that top 10 video TPB, I got 100 for you. Thank you Pal
Lilly in your hideout also lets you trade in divination cards nowadays.
I like to use the second/third ability bar (ctrl/alt) with vaals skills. Having one skill at one key and pressing the same keey + str for the vaal version helps easing my mind a little.
For what it's worth, vendors only refresh every 3-4 levels now, so you don't need to check on every level up.
TRUE, #16 is outdated
when did this happen and how does it work :D
@@kiki-wc1oj Last league I think. Vendors will just keep their inventories static for more than 1 level now. Just check them every 3-4 levels, I'm not actually 100% sure when they refresh.
Yep I leveled some starters today, can confirm they refresh every 3-4 levels now.
from my understanding they refresh like 25% stock every level
2 Tips That I may add specially for experienced players:
- You can buy items with " + level of all ...gems" from NPC even in act 1 for just 1 transmute, Might not be for speed runners but it gives a lot of power boost for spell casters. You can search in NPC trade "level of all" then it will highlight the item| side note both Wand seller NPC and Weapon Seller NPC sells items with this mod (Nessa & Tarkleigh in act 1)
- In addition to tip 90 - You can Copy an item from trade to check power boost on your character by pressing the + icon on lower left when hovering on the image on trade.
I didn’t follow a build guide first time. I quit. I followed a build guide this time. PoE is now my favorite game
no 35 is very valuable. the only 1 i didn't know about. deserved a like.
A behemot of a video, must've been very fun to create. Well done, thanks Pal!
Dude the amount of work put into this🤯
gj man, right in time for all the d4 refugees and right b4 new league :)
As a D4 refugee that just started 2 weeks ago and is excited about the new league, this is spot on! Greatly appreciated!!
@@BGriffith85welcome, exile
If I may add one,
There is a blight exploit which trivializes the mechanic. A Lvl 3 seismic in the circle of a LvL 3 empower (no higher) will perma stun all non immune enemies, then you can forget that direction them until the end.
wow, I did not know about ctrl-clicking vendors, mass-favouriting maps, right-clicking a map to zoom in on the atlas, or removing shrine effects. thank you!
As a veteran player there's some new things I learned from this video. Good work as it helps the community out so much!
Damn how i wish this video existed when i began my adventure with POE...
so trueeee
37:54 thanks for the divine resistance trick! Didn't know that 💓
Thought I would know everything but you got me with right clicking the map to locate it on the atlas. Also it's important to remember that binding orb always makes 4 sockets if the item allows it, so you could ruin your 5 or 6 link with it.
This has been a game changer thank you.
Thanks!
holy shit, 740 hours clocked in without knowing you can ctrl+click lilly to open the sell window. You are my godsend.
"Put bloom all the way down to 25% unless you want to wear glasses once you're 40." I just turned 40 and got glasses only 2 years ago. GGG DID THIS TO ME!

The literal opposite happened to me.
#2
I'd consider SSF way before anyone considers HC.
Insane work! After 10 years of playing this game i still didn`t know a couple of things)
just learned about #47 and #98 it's game changing, ty bro
"Unless you want to wear glasses when you're 40". Man, you really had to kick me while down. 42, played 11k hours on this, and I just got my first prescription, lol.
Also, about 41, one thing that people don't look at is 'you cannot take reflected damage' sextants, which rolls quite a lot. I agree, try not to do reflect maps, but for something like SSF, and you corrupt a map to get completion and it rerolls to reflect, there are options for that.
I leared 4 new things and some of the things were a good reminder of stuff I could improve on.
This is a great source for new-ish players. 👍
Damnnn i learnt 2 things. Surprisingly. The favoured maps click thing. And the alternate quality gamba has weighting
Amazing video, i'll recommand when friends join poe in the future. Also thanks for the manacost tip, that should be enough for me to use the blessing. Learnt that enchantment can be crafted in the table, that saves a lot of clicking, thx for that too
No 35 is rly important guys and you shouldnt ignore the golden hand in act 2
thanks, great video :) you could add "Clicking the portal icon" (little blue one) when going for a trade with other players, that just easier then right click the left click :)
A player using a physical damage build can be immune to elemental reflect by using a Brutality Support where you deal no elemental damage.
I feel this is a good way of starting out if you are brand new.
amazing video, just started poe two wks ago and there was a lot of things I didnt know 🙏
#84 is massive for me.
I did NOT know about 71!!!! Thank you for this!!
Thanks for the video!
For #3 I always link a skill to the left mouse such as bone armor you can do many different ones that will cast that skill continuously as it cools down very useful steel skin is another one
I thought I would know all of these but I didnt know about the beast craft/item level thing
awesome stuff for newer players for sure!
Yay am a poe buff. Only one i didn't knew was the shrine thing. Good to know ty!
Learn basic vendor recipe and currency flip they offer to you, sometimes its save you time and money. Great vid. ty
dude your work is very appreciated
Very thorough. Excellent stuff @Palsteron.
"PoE rewards a good mixture of offense and defense" hahaha that's comedy gold right here.
Just jokes, amazing video
Hah, I just used the Weta pet trick. You are doing God's work sir.
Thanks for the info. Did not know about the harvest resists that should be helpful.
Huge! Thank you, especially for tip 35.
I actually knew most. 72 75 84 i didn't know but weren't all too major to me, but 91 is insane to know! I've been somewhat annoyed by that for ages and developed certain typing sentences for the mods i want to search for to quickly find them lol.
Awesome video, so many good and unknown tips and details! Well done Palsteron, tks for sharing your knowledge with us :D
im 4k hours deep and some of these are really usefull, ty pal great video
This guide helped me out a ton, thanks man!
I've been playing a long time and I actually didn't know a couple of these!
BRO i play this game for 7 years and i still find some new stuff in this video)) GJ
i have 12,500 hours and i still learned something from this video. the game is so vast
Holy shit im playing since 2019...I didnt know about ctrl clicking npc´s! A whole new world!
I would only suggest one difference in these amazing tips. I started on HC, and yes it was meaningful to die, but man. It hooked me. 2013 though. POE was in a different place.
Yep Diablo, Tip 3 is for you!! Nice video!
Awesome upload man! Thanks!
Bro its amazing video with amazing effort thx :) Which build is at the beginning of the video?
I had no idea about ctrl+clicking vendors. Watching the video was worth it for that alone.
One tip I would like to add is for Exiles that feel a lot of strain on their mouse hand. Put your main skill on your keyboard instead of rightclick. At first this might seem almost like blasphemy but if you are struggling with pains in your mousehand I highly suggest trying this out. It's going to feel weird for one session and after that it will be second nature. Putting my main skill on spacebar have been a gamechanger for me.
Watching this with 100hrs of poe experience is blowing my mind
These are awesome. But I am dont know if I should be happy or sad that I already seem to know most of these, a lot of the smart ones like diving resistances from just thinking about it
Great video and tips! Also really well timed before the league start and when new players are joining
I didn't know the favor map trick thats great!
To add to the "up to a day ago number 95" if you just click the time it was listed on the right hand side next to the persons name it will sort from the most recent first.
Solid format. Where was this two years ago xd
This video is so helpful. Thanks!
Tip 41 can be neglected if you run a DoT only build such as Righteous Fire. Reflect only procs on Hits, no DoTs. not sure about AoE Damage though
To add onto 1, something I told my friends: this games has extremely complex build making but also extremely complex content to explore, and if you fail the first one, the second will be very hard to experience. Grabbing a build guide will smoothen the learning curve so later you can go back to it and try out things on your own
Thank you so much for tip 84. I did a lot of harvest last league and selling exact amounts of harvest lifeforce was annoying. Thank you.
great video, there is always something to remember
Super basic stuff, but great work maybe some one will enjoy and learn something new
