31:00 When our relationship ended it felt like he was kicking me to reality, I felt naked. What we had had been a dream but it was also a confortable place, it was like our own little bubble. It was a very confusing experience, hard to believe, hard to process.

This is utterly brilliant. A guided tour into the paracosmic shared fantasy/“compound” of the narcissistic family cult that evolves from the narcissists refusal to grow up… and from the disturbing collusion/shared investment in this folie a familie against the distasteful TRUTH of the toxic dysfunction of all participating members. This talk is ESSENTIAL and LIBERATING listening for all scapegoats of narcissistic family abuse.

I don't stop watching your videos within the first ten minutes. On the contrary, I watch them from beginning to end, over and over, on repeat. This video I have found particularly helpful; I have watched it four times already. Here, you have provided a detailed explanation for the end of my recent relationship with a narcissist. I was agonizing over the whys and wherefores, how he could have so seamlessly moved from loving to hateful and cast me aside like a soiled tissue. And here is every reason and motivation behind the entire shadowplay of our relationship -- the shared fantasy that he created, where he was father / child and I was child / mother, his Peter Pan mentality, his extreme fear of / desire for intimacy, his need to destroy me. It hurts, but will allow me to move forward. Thanks for all that you do!

It was the hardest thing I ever did can I go back at that point. It's all so surreal you feel so sorry for these creatures. But there's nothing you can do for them nothing. I loved this video from beginning to end. Such a clear explanation. As a child I had my imaginary world too, I was bored out of my mind in school and my school did not recongnize I needed more challenging assignments. So I can understand how that works the same in other situations. The difference with a healthy mind is perhaps that you let go as you grow older and transform to an adult human being.

You answered the avoidance of sex and intimacy that has always perplexed me . I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up in jail one day with his $ fraud schemes. Can’t believe it hasn’t happened yet. Thank you once again for helping put the pieces together for me when I have always been for the most part a very healthy person growing up with a very loving German Jewish mother who escaped the Nazi regime . . Sam thank you for the video. It makes since with a situation I'm going through. I dated a narcissistic for about 3.5 years. He discarded me but future faked me at the same time. He lost his job because he kept calling another female derogatory names to other employees. He has been on and off with the supply he left me for about a year but kept contact with me the whole time. I am being called to testify against him because he is trying to get his job back. He is calling me and begging me not to testify. He also is blaming me for his sugar levels being at dangerous levels because I have to testify. Does he still see me as a mother who is supposed to protect her child and love him unconditionally? Is this triggering bad memories with his mother? Im sure he will be mortified during this process because his true self will be exposed in front of people. I tried to explain to him that it is not my fault I'm being subpoenaed and I am not going to commit purgury. My hope is that he will internally blame himself for putting me in this position. I'm seeking your expertise on how he may view me and if this could lead to collapse. He's 61 years old never married. ASPD with covert Narcissistic features. Thank you!

This video just made me think - how come narcissism is a hopeless case and an incurable condition if it is a choice - the prison example... so in a split second a narcissist can switch to a regular and functional human being if the circumstances like prison would not allow for a grandiose personality. But still a narcissist cannot suddenly become empathic because empathy is not a social norm. It is something far beyond that. It is something that allows us to be “good” in the core regardless of circumstances.

Woah, first time im hearing of parachosim in all of my years of suffering this way. As an 12-19 year old i was in an alternitive universe with like 10 friends on the internet- shared fantasy, we were different characters and we would switch between them and made up new ones and killed them and had emotions over them. In college the group fell apart and i began interacting in "reality" that was art college (narcissist heaven) mostly women and queers. I became a nude model there, identified as Asexual, not having a 'sexual' experience as a nude model at college, very professional, i still have no idea what my family thought of that career (narcissistic family system that i was adopted into, ive met my birth mom) otherwise i had given up on reality and basically lived in this alternative universe and my reality was a new city. I learned to drive at 26 after i had married my artist also nude model husband and we moved to the country. I mean ive been trying to organize myself enough to write a book about this experience, thank you for being here to help me put my brain back together. I had a whole family in this alternative universe.

Are we sure they have any choice? I like to call it the perception gap, that it still falls under defense which I will explain in just a moment. I began my deep dive into the Clusters three months ago after being in relationships back to back. 2 years with a diagnosed BPD and 22 months undiagnosed NPD. I had very little knowledge other than the abuse tactics and symptoms as a result. The pieces I don't see coming together if it is a choice. This would have occurred I believe during the child's 5 to 24 month symbiotic separation to individuation. We all have a narcissist for survival purposes to get us past obstacles with a little boost of grandiose false confidence and if that does not do the trick, magical thinking removes the problem. However, whatever happened to the child was ongoing, was relentless, and impossible to bypass. Maybe in addition due to a super sensitive pass down of the 9 temperamental traits from parent at 20% to 60% each. It could have been the symbiotic separation battle itself that forced the baby to call upon the narcissist to assist. I believe it to be a betrayal trauma of some sort that prevents the healthy integration of the internal and external universes and separation to individuation. Betrayal Trauma causes the same PTSD and CPTSD and BPD symptoms but by definition they cant be classified as such, yet the symptoms persist which more than likely is causing cortisol brain atrophied damage. Could be the reason for the psychopaths adult atrophied brain scans of the exact same and the mirror neuron systems responsible for failed automatic empathy.
If it takes 18 to 254 days for a person to form a new habit and 66 days for a new behavior to become automatic. Since before the age of 24 months, as month 24 to 36 object constancy is supposed to be learned which they don't.. this defensive system would have become habit and the behavior automatic before the full development of the hippocampus to be able to recall and remember the events but only recalling the fully developed Amygdala's emotional memory, both with possible cortisol damage.
To be a choice would mean that the narcissist isn't on autopilot and somehow came into consciousness long enough to make the choice. the conscious comes forth on injury or collapse but all the see is the Amygdala emotional pain. Researchers can predict 7 to 10 seconds what choice people will make before even they themselves are aware of having made a decision when looking at brain activity. When people think they are making a conscious logical decision, chances are that they aren't even aware that they've already made a decision and that it was unconscious. We aren't even aware of our own process.
I think the narcissist has a perception gap that requires him to act within the law and how others perceive. Such as his converted from all good to all bad partner. Outside closed doors the narcissist needs to be careful due to how others perceive his partner, the perception gap. He can only dole out damage in accordance to the publics perception. So he will recruit followers to have them convinced and join his perception of his partner as all bad. The more the perception gap closes the more damage that can be done especially the sadistic sort and public humiliation. They need to keep up appearance and ensure they are not seen as anything except perfect and all good.. he's over his head in prison and knows he needs to be very careful not to be put into a position he could be made to be all bad and not be able to manipulate his way out of it.
The narcissist doesn't enter the conscious world long enough to establish conscious choices and decisions. His conscious pain conceded to the grandiose magical defense system of the narcissist and made into habit then behavior fully automated before the ability to remember anything but only the emotional trauma form which it defends and when facing injury or collapse... in my humble opinion. Im probably missing something
The narcissist was unconscious before remembered events and the true self disappeared prior to the ability to remember actual events. That means the only conscious memory for that being, is the Amygdala's emotional memory.
They have no concept of the real world other than emotional memory that has no picture or language for it.
