I've been forced to watch many TED talks in academia. It's a crying shame they missed this one. Nick Lavery has changed my life and will have a huge impact on an unfathomable number of others.
Good on you mate. Inspired. Was in Mosul for a short time in '17 with one of the GB lads. Consider him a good mate. Anyway, continue to inspire and lead, this world needs it. Cheers from a 48 yr old Aussie vet.
Needed this as I’m staring my personal journey to one day become a Green Beret. I’m now 32 and time is running out for me to have the opportunity. I am giving it my all, as long I I try and give my best and some I will have no regrets. Thank you for your inspiration
What an inspiration!! I believe anything is possible if we can develop the same mindset as Nick. Never let failures win over you. Never give up on your dreams!!
That's the problem with the younger generation in this country. They don't have goals, don't have objectives, they aren't working towards anything. Human beings need a purpose and when you don't have one, you get in the way of people that do.
Dont generalize. Im 46 yrs young and meet tons of young folks that really impress me. Im also a vet with 3kids, a daughter who is an attorney, a daughter who is a biologist and a son in the Marine Corps. Kids only know what they are taught and shown and we have some folks of my generation who arent leading the way properly and leading by example. A bunch are busy whining and complaining about politicians, unequity, how hard it us being a white man in America.........blah blah blah, total sewage. These younger kids are doing more than we did when we were young and theyre doing it SMARTER. Are they as tough? No but toughness can be taught, see my previous comment.
Nice speech but other than that...I would have never pick a fight with this man because it would not be fair as he is missing a leg, but after knowing who he i realize it would be totally unfair, but only for me. Lol.
Hooah brother. You've given so much you have sacrificed so much leave it to it to the rest of us, we will get the mission done 💪. Go to your family. Live with them you will be remembered for your sacrifices and your strength leave it to us we have a lot left to give you've given enough 😉.
Ethos means ethics, your personal ethical code, your principles that are never compromised. It's about who you are, what you value and the rules that you live by.
Warrior? Why would I want to be warrior? There's something a little off about this. I guess he makes some good points, but maybe he should throw the alarm clock at the wall sometimes. He needs to relax.
@@lerlanger something tells me you wouldn't understand even if I laid it all out for you. If you can't see what he's tryimg to accomplish, it's best to just move on.

Every school age child in the country should be taught this from a young age not "participation trophies" mindset and safe spaces.
Inspirational, proud he’s an American Special Forces member.
This man speaks to why our flag still flys so proudly!
Way to represent the Regiment Nick. Well done buddy.
Thank you for your service.
waaw that is inspiration, you put eyes into tears.
Great TED talk Nick!

Great talk! But is it just me or did he skip explaining ethos #3?
How does this have 13k views?
I choose right cause I can see clear and think clear left I went insane right pick me back up that why.
If you noticed the scar on his right cheek it’s because he deflected an AK47 round with his face. Not joking
Anyone else think this was recommended due to "etho" in the title which is also the name of a minecraft youtuber?

What's ethos? Still don't get it. Sorry for my ignorance and dumbness.

Warrior? Why would I want to be warrior? There's something a little off about this. I guess he makes some good points, but maybe he should throw the alarm clock at the wall sometimes. He needs to relax.
And if he's such a family man, why is he running off to Afghanistan, Iraq, all the time?
