  • Hi Everyone, dedicated this next video in the Ducati ST2 rebuild to focus on a tech advice video that will guide you through how to install a new Slipper Clutch to a Ducati engine, in this example my 944cc engine
    I am fitting the Kbike 6 spring ball and ramp style slipper clutch
    In the video I take you through what came with the clutch, the plate pack I am using and all the tools necessary to complete the installatiion.
    The installation is similar to most of the generic ball and ramp type clutch currently on the market for Ducati's
    This clutch can be used in a wide variety of Ducati bikes thanks to its construction and the parts included, this includes Monsters, the ST range, Hypermotards, 748, 916, 996, 998, 900SS to name a few
    Apologies for the constant reference to the clutch basket as a hub but hopefully I have added correction text over the top of these grammatical errors 🤣🤣
    Please like, share and subscribe for more content

    Hi, Thanks for the videos, I’ve watched most of them and they’re definitely the most detailed and easy to follow. Great job mate 👍 Looking to buy a slipper clutch and was wondering how the kbike clutch is performing? You say in the video you haven’t used this brand before, which brand would you normally use/recommend?
    Thanks

    In case this saves someone else a bit of a trouble I found out the hard way that a stock clutch pack will not/may not fit in an aftermarket basket that has the band on it as the tangs on the friction plates are likely to extend out past the basket and thus not clear the band. I had to turn mine down on a lath to get them to fit. After market aluminum pack for me next replacement as I agree the steel disks are causing extra wear even with the steel inserts my basket has to protect it. Cheers.

    Hi, nice clear video. I have a question about the convex plate - you installed it with the mark towards the engine - everything I have read suggests the mark on the plate should face you (eg outwards) as you install the convex plate. Is installing it with the mark towards the engine specific to this slipper clutch?
    I ask as I am cleaning up some plates on my DP performance slipper clutch on my Hypermotard 1100 - the actual basket and set up looks very similar to this (despite being DP branded) including the screwed in place first drive plate against the clutch basket. Mine is installed with the mark facing outwards, but am now questioning/confused whether this is correct or not.

    great video as normal, will be investing in one once the 916 has been rebuilt. I did send you a message on instagram regarding torques, but as a general is there any diagrams that show and list the torques of a 916 engine? Also do you plan on updating on the 916 build? Keep up the great work Jamie

    • @DesmoWerx
      @DesmoWerx  3 роки тому

      Hi Jamie, the manual list all the torque values do you need them?. 916 engine build will get completed but it is a side project.

    hello ,nice and clear video as normal .I never used a slipper clutch on the 916 in track day and I am sure it's important but I wonder if on a normal use of the bike out of the track ,it 's necessary . another question but nothing to see with your video ,what do you think of the possibility to install a 1000 or 1100 ( hm,monster) on a 996 frame , it's a good challenge and a possibility to have a good and lightly bike .thanks for video

    • @DesmoWerx
      @DesmoWerx  3 роки тому

      The slipper clutch is a nice addition to allow the bike to not suffer lock up by downshifting too fast.
      It is possible to fit the air cooled engines into a 996 frame, a few people have done such a conversion. 👍😎

    Hello my friend. Good video and nice Lotus in the background too. Can I ask you a question please? So I have recently got a 1098s and I am having issues downshifting as in I just can’t go from third to second or second to first without a right faff every single gear change. It has a slipper clutch currently installed but I also have the OEM clutch too. Would it be a good idea to throw the OEM clutch back in to eliminate the current slipper clutch being the issue!? Hi don’t think this is the issue or I’m being honest. Sorry for the essay lol.

    • @DesmoWerx
      @DesmoWerx  3 роки тому +1

      Problems with down or up shifting are not normally related to the clutch unless its having disengagement issues. Even then you can check if thats the problem by blip shifting up or down the box without the clutch. If that works then its the clutch!!
      Another common issue which sounds simple but often over looked is the pressure you apply to the gear lever, if not enough or cleanly done it can cause shifting issues.
      However usually this type of issue usually relates to either shift fork, shift drum or the dogs on the gears themselves.
      Hope that helps

    Just had a conrod bearing go on my 1098 one of these may have prevented it from some of the strain .

    • @DesmoWerx
      @DesmoWerx  3 роки тому +1

      Conrod bearings tend to fail more due to oil quality, debris in oil or starvation. The slipper clutch is more to remove load on the bike during rapid deceleration. 😊

    Can you fit a slipper clutch on a panigale v4s for the purpose of reducing clatter noise and is it compatible/safe with the auto blipper? Great video!

    • @DesmoWerx
      @DesmoWerx  Рік тому

      HI Graham, I don't do any work on the V4's so could not comment specifically. However the slipper clutch should not make a difference as its wheel speed against engine speed that causes it to operate. The electronics would work independently of this.

    Hi! Nice video DesmoWerx! 🤩
    Has anyone installed this slipper clutch on a Ducati Hypermotard 1100? I installed it on mine (the same kit DesmoWerx shows us in this video) and I feel the recoil action of the slipper clutch on the clutch lever, is it normal?

    • @DesmoWerx
      @DesmoWerx  3 роки тому

      When say recoil do you mean the lever is pulsing in use? not heard of that before. Sometimes it may click, this is usually caused by sticking plates.

    • @DesmoWerx
      @DesmoWerx  3 роки тому

      HI Jeff, they work fine for road use with the added protection of the slipper function if you downshift too aggressively 👍😎

    • @DesmoWerx

      Hi Bernard, the noise is about the same, hard to tell really. The clutch pull is slightly lighter.

    Can I use the original cluch cover for this cluch. Or must this cluch have an open vented cover?

    • @DesmoWerx
      @DesmoWerx  10 місяців тому +1

      You can use a sealed clutch cover but a slipper generates a little more heat and dust when used hard so worth removing every now and then to check and clean it out.

    I fitted the same kbike slipper clutch. Last time I took it apart for maintenance (cleaning and ramp regrease) the spider spring was broken. Replacement is 30 eur but postage to Oz is 40 Eur!
    Is metal epoxy or welding the spider spring an option you think?
