- Hi Everyone,
First video in the Ducati 1098S service series as I prepare the bike to be sold.
In this first video I will be replacing the timing belts.
This work will be done with the engine remaining in the frame, I do make use of the cam locking tools although there are methods to achieve a belt change without these tools.
Further videos to follow covering a brake pad change, new front brake lines, new spark plugs, clutch service and the fitting of a swingarm protector with integral sharks fin.

This 1098s series is awesome. Thanks for putting them together.
for those watching..there is a much faster and easier way to change belts...take fingernail polish and mark where current belts are in relation to gears. Take belts off and count teeth to match new belts, mark new belts with fingernail polish, put new belts on and done! No need for any special tools or finding TDC!
Another great video, thanks for sharing your work.
Great job, and your workspace has everything you need, that's when you enjoy the passion or love for a job or what you enjoy.
Watching these great tutorials it's apparent how much work is required to do even straight forward jobs on a Ducati.
Brilliant - just in time for my service on my MTS1200. thanks
Awesome video, Interesting stuff.
This is pretty comprehensive!! Very nice
Yet again another helpful video cheers from Australia
good video again and glad to see an other bike even it's very similar
Hi DesmoWerx Great video Thank you from France👍👍👍

The new garage set-up looks great and looks heaps more functional mate!
Another great video there Desmo....
👍👍👍👍👍 cheers good work
Great vidéo 👍
Why did you need to loosen the cam sprocket bolts? Can you do a video on setting the lobe centers and where you place them for different power characteristics?
Nice, very happy to see a new serie and helpfull to me with my 999 work. Did you had any issues getting the spark plugs out? On my 999 I feel I need a very thin 16mm socket in there.. I reach the spark plug just not the bolt
Great video, thank you. I just got my first Ducati, an 1198sp with 15000 miles so it’s ready for belts. I’m a bit out of my element since my last three bikes were TZ250’s. Where are the cam locking tools from? Are they expensive? I don’t plan on doing this job frequently so may be cost prohibitive. Thanks again for great instructional videos.
Super vidéo, thanks a lot.
