These are exactly the type of videos I was hoping for with the start of the collective…love this style!! I think that’s why the bra vid is my favorite! ❤️
Discs are pretty trendy, so there are a ton of options depending on what you need! I always recommend that people start with the Put a Cup in It quiz (they have a quiz for cups and one for discs) as a starting point or it can be so overwhelming
Just posted about my disc and this is the one I use. I swear by it. I think the disposable ones are just less sturdy. The flex has been the best and I never leak!
I really appreciate Jess trying the underwear. As another person who can also have some really heavy periods, albeit with less pain that Jess said she gets, I was super hesitant to try any because I wasn't sure if they'd hold up to the flow or not, and I'm not in a place where I can afford to lose money to try things like that. It's also hard to find them in my size as a plus size girlie or if I can then they're, again, extremely outside of my price range. I also appreciate having Jess in this video because I'm also a person who only uses pads. I've tried using tampons and other insertables, and I just don't like the feeling of them, so there is no other option for me at this point. It's nice to see that representation because sometimes it really does seem like we're the odd ones out for just doing what works for us, so I genuinely thank you guys for including a spectrum of ladies in this video
I really highly recommend the Modibodi brand - they go up to a AU26 or something from memory, and lots of different flow strengths. What I like about them compared to other brands I’ve tried is that the absorbent area is merino wool…. It’s really comfortable, not smelly, environmentally friendly and draws moisture away better than other materials.
Yes, I love my Modibodi underware. I do find that I have to size up though, 1-2 sizes, because it’s too tight and uncomfortable on my period-having stomach otherwise.
as a poor person, period underwear is saving me a ton of money. 6 pairs for $30 each vs $30 of pads and tampons every month....i've had my period undies for maybe 3 years now? they are also significantly more comfortable. cleaner as well. you don't have to change it every few hours. i wear one for daytime and one for nighttime. my period went from a week long to 3 days and very light. it's bc of the pads and tampons that make your period so heavy and long. give it a chance.
Mine did that once because it's too big. I wonder if Rachel would need a smaller disc. It's probably not worth troubleshooting if she's happy with her cup though
@@munstergirl25 That's why we have options. For me the cup is a lifesaver, I used to have bad cramps that caused nausea but as soon as I started using the cup it's better than a pain relieving medicine for me. I'm happy you found a option that works for you! Anything to make periods more bearable is worth it.
For folks who like the idea of a cup, the Flexcup is AMAZING! You can get it at target. It’s a cup that has a “string” that you pull out, just like a tampon. I found it to be very beginner friendly!
Ok so I bought this during my last period and COULD NOT get it in!! I’m going to try again next time but it kept opening before it was in far enough! Any tips?
@@jessicataylor7854 I use the 7 folding method! Allows for there to be a “point” which helps with insertion. The other nice thing about period cups is you can test them when you’re not on your period, since they’re reusable. Try different folding methods before your period comes to see which way works the best, so you’re not stressing and learning when your period already is here 😊
I started using the hello disc two months ago and I also recommend! I took the quiz from period nirvana and that also helped me find the right thing for me
I use a reusable disc now. It works better for me than regular cups, but I still have a super heavy flow that leaves it needing emptied more frequently than 12 hours. I tend to use period underwear with it for the heavier days.
I feel like a lot of disc users get their first ones from other friends passing on the rest of their disposable discs. So get the rest of that box to Sierra!
I love the hello disc! I’ve used it for years and found it so much easier to use than a cup, which I always had trouble with when removing. I use it with one loop cut off. And when learning to use it I definitely had to figure out how to bear down to help it remove easier. But now I love it and I’m a huge fan!
Okay so the cup never worked for me, getting it in and out? Impossible. I gave it 4 cycles and never again. A few years later I tried a reusable disk - life changing. So easy to get in and out and it’s made my periods so much better. I think it’s totally based on your “shape” inside. Maybe that’s why disks didn’t work for Rachel but cups do. So Sierra, it’s worth a shot! You might love a reusable disk! (I tried the flex throw away ones and hated them)
There are also different sizes of cups, I feel very lucky that the first one I tried worked so well for me because the options were overwhelming 😂 there is a quiz called putacupinit which can help lots, though, they have a quiz for both cups and discs! Their site was super helpful in my research ^^
Sierra, I would recommend trying out a different fold method for inserting the cup. Coming from someone who has used a cup since I was 13, and I'm 21 now, the method they suggest SUCKS. I typically use the "punch down" method, and it just makes the cup into a significantly better shape to insert than the C-Fold. You can look up menstrual cup folds and see which one works and feels easier for you!
Love this type of content!! I would love for there to be a group segment at the end where you all can talk about your experiences together. I know it adds an extra layer to film all together but the colab nature of this channel is something we all love. Also- I love my BeFree cup because its antimicrobial and no need to boil it 🙌
I love these period product videos!!! I’m a huge believer in the underwear with a cup or a tampon if I’m out the house! I’m super heavy so one or the other doesn’t work unless I’m changing it constantly, like 2 hours. So both work great!
I'd love to see an episode dedicated to period swimwear, or you each trying different versions of your favorite period products (especially multiple brands of period underwear, especially if you can find them in similar cuts!)
this video is definitely not TMI, anyone who clicks on this video should know what they are getting, the title explains it very well. this video is very informative!
This is fascinating - flex disks are LIFECHANGING for me, I’m never using anything else ever, it stays in and is so so comfortable, it disappears. I don’t leak when going to the bathroom at all. This was so interesting because the reality is that our bodies are SO different and different things work for different people. Thanks for sharing, it really opened my eyes to how different our bodies can be!
Oh Sierra, I loved this video lol I don’t have sister or close girl friends so this we super helpful. My teenage daughter has been wanting to try the cup but it just looks so intimidating, so glad to get your feedback. 👍❤
I just tried period underwear for the first time yesterday and I’ve officially been converted! Also, if anyone else wants to try period underwear but price was a barrier, Walmart now sells Period. brand for $9 a pair
@@roser6963 For me, it was only slightly. Idk if it's because the blood gets soaked in instead of sitting on top, but I didn't get the same cold wet feeling like with a pad
I’ve run with a cup for years and never had issues with feeling it if it was in high enough and once the stem was trimmed. Definitely agree with giving it a try.
I never comment on videos in general, BUT this is the one time where I feel I need to! Thank you for a really honest and real video. There are so many videos out there of people reviewing period products, but this is the first time I have felt that the entire experience of periods are captured. The fear of leaking, the “rushing home from target”, the struggle and “watching tutorials” in the bathroom and how much dedication, time and patience it actually takes when trying a new period product. Thanks for getting this out there. Thanks for making me feel that our monthly struggles are seen. Thanks for normalising periods. I would love to see more videos like this!❤
I love period underwear! Not sure how accurate the 30 use claim is - I feel like they last longer and that’s just a bit of marketing/consumerism. I’m sure at some point they stop being effective but I’ve had mine for a few years and so far so good
Absolutely agree! It’s pretty obvious when they wear out haha Mine can also go in the dryer on low, which helps a lot. I just love the feel of them so much better than pads.
@@SunnySarahDee good to know and yes mine can go on low too if need be! Agreed so much better for me than pads which was my main method before the underwear.
Mine worked fine until the very end when they were literally falling apart! Having 3-4 pairs is ideal for me. I use them in conjunction with tampons on heavy days and by themselves on lighter days.
Sierra- the June cup is my absolute favorite, so much more comfy and easier to use than the diva! I’ve tried 10 or more cups and I’ll never use another besides the June cup again.
@@deidref96 reusable flex disc works great for me but we’re all different ! I recommend taking a period disc quiz from period nirvana. She has an amazing UA-cam channel and also created her own disc as well that has a pull string ! But her quiz recommends all diff kinds based on your answers !
Not me watching this while I boil my cup 😂. I started using the cup after college and love it, although I usually take mine out to go to the bathroom- for whatever reason I can't go #2 with it in. And I always wear my cup with period underwear day 1 and 2
I came here looking for this! The menstrual cup is my favorite period product that I've tried so far, but I get cramps and sometimes constipation with it in and it usually slides out if I poop with it in. I use the BloodyBuddy/PoppinsPeriod cup.
@@tiffanymackey2083 I wonder if this is an anatomy quirk, I haven't had that issue with #2 before, but you two are definitely not the only ones either based on all the reviews I read before getting mine! My seating issues have only been from #1, I learned pretty early on that I need to empty my bladder before inserting, OR ELSE! tmi version below: Your bladder can press on it, which can cause it to leak if you don't pee often enough while it's inserted, but it was one of my first few cycles with a cup, and I didn't realize the pressure of a relatively full bladder would also prevent a seal upon insertion... until one day by chance I inserted first, THEN went #1, and it torpedoed out of me comically fast, so I had to re-boil it 🤣I had JUST got it cooled down from its original boil-of-the-month, so... at least the pan was still out 😂 Now I always hit the toilet first, even if I don't think I really need to, THEN insert, luckily never had the same issue again (although it only took one incident to condition me to be ready to catch it any time it shifts on the john, hahaha)
I had the hardest time with the name brand diva cup, but it was so much handier than tampons/pads. When it came time to replace I decided to buy a 2 pack of a no name brand on Amazon for ~$12 just to try something new. They fit so much better, are so much easier to work, and didn't feel like I was spending a bunch of money to feel "fine" about a product. To anyone reading this, remember every ones bodies are different and you might need to try different sizes and brands to see what you prefer. ❤ whatever makes you better during your cycle is key. For the collective, I loved this video. So informative!
Sierra, try the disc! At least once. I started out a cup girlie, loved it and thought about trying the disc and it was so worth. I have never leak with the disc and I feel like it easier to use because you don’t have to worry about the suction (especially with an IUD). I used my last disc for almost five years before I have to replace it (I had the reusable one).
Been using a cup since my senior year of college(2017) and honestly never going back. There is a learning curve but honestly i can now say i can comfortably do all my regular activities including exercise. What really sold me was after about 4months of use, i had my senior dance showcase and my period. Nervous but figuring it was a good test, i used it through all the rehearsals and the show and it was such a non-issue! I felt so secure and just like I was able to dance! I, like Rachel, am a forever believer in the cup! Thank you guys for being so real and open about everything! However to Sierra’s point, i will wear period underwear to bed sometimes in combo with the cup or on their own. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing! Thanks again ❤
Rachel the whole time I was like “try the Hello disc!!!!!!” Those disposable ones look super flimsy. Theres a learning curve with discs but I’ve loved the Hello Disc
The hello disc is my FAVORITE - took 2-3 cycles to figure it out, but once I did it has been a GAME CHANGER. I also genuinely it has made my menstrual cycle shorter (could be imagining it but 🤷🏻♀️)
Was a cup lover, but once I tried the Flex Disc I instantly knew the cup was nothing compared to it. The flex disc has a finger hold, not flimsy at all and reusable. Disc for life
@hesfra I started using the disc because I couldn’t figure out the suction for the cup. I had a disposable disc that I had been given and gave that a try and got it to work on the very first try and haven’t gone back. I also like that it “empties” itself so I don’t need to worry about it leaking. I have the Saalt disc that I love but it’s also nice having the disposable option when I’m on the go and it’s a product that I’m used to. At the end of the day, I think it’s just personal preference and if you already have a cup and are totally happy with it, it might not make sense to switch but I think it’s a great option for people who don’t love (or can’t figure out) the suction part of the cup.
I used to use the cups for years until giving birth. After the first time, I noticed I couldn't get the cup to fit the same way anymore and tried a few other different brands. Couldn't get any to work anymore. Then saw the cora disc and tried that one. For whatever reason, the disc feels more comfortable for me now and works just as well as a cup did previous to pregnancies. Even after the second pregnancy, I have found the disc still works but the cups don't anymore. The cora disc is also reusable and has a one finger divit to make it easier to hook in and grab.
I recently switched from tampons and pads to discs (one small for light flow days and one large for heavy flow days) and OBSESSED!!! Not only is it easier than I expected but you save so much money and it’s better for the environment! 10/10 I’ll never go back
I’ve been using a cup for years! I love that you don’t have to change it too often throughout the day and that it produces less waste. I did have a mini panic attack the first time I tried to take it out but if you try it for a couple times in a row, most people get the hang of it!
Sierra you might want to try the size down, I know they often recommend a larger size if you've had children but that's not the perfect formula. I run with mine and find it pretty easy to put in but I have the smallest size
The Flex disposable is by far thr firmest!! Was also my first experience with a disc. After researching cervix height, and taking into consideration sensitivity of bladder, I ended up following advice from Period Nirvana and got the Hello Disc. It's been amazing!! Basically popped up into place perfectly 😂 And SO easy to remove with the attached loops! I definitely recommend!! Thanks for trying everything out to spread the word 😊
I love this! Normalize women’s bodies! I was recently diagnosed with fibroids and endo and it’s been a really confusing and painful experience so far. Conversations and safe spaces like this are so important ❤
Anyone else unable to stick any period products up there? 31 years old and have never been able to even get a tampon in. Will be sticking with the reusable pads and period underwear.
That’s how I was until I tried the disc. I still use period panties but I’m usually too heavy for the first few days to just rely on them. The disc is MUCH more comfortable than a cup or a tampon because it sits against your cervix
I cant get anything up there to actually work. Ive been thru disk and cups and none worked. Didnt find out until this year that my uterus is titled backwards so my cervix is also tilted and I was like yeah im going to stick to period panties atp because i had enough fights with the cups and disks
Oh yes! I have tried tampons, discs, and cups. Hate them all. I'm more crampy and can always feel them (and yes they're in properly!). I've had 2 kids and still can only use pads or periodunderwear. I have a handful of reusable pads from Etsy that I like.
Seeing Jess suffer reminds me of my experience with endometriosis 😢 Before my hysterectomy my period was debilitating and dictated so much of my life. I still experience some symptoms but it's nowhere near as severe and disabling as it used to be.
Cup girly all the way!!! I specifically use the Flex cup as a first time user and probably will never go back! It has the pulling mechanism that breaks the seal and comes out like a tampon! Love it!
Thanks for testing these products out and giving us an honest review. I've personally never tried any of these, so i truly appreciate your time and efforts. Friendly suggestion: It would have been nice to know how the period underwear would hold up while you're walking out and about and with different outfits as some people may need to wear them to work/school, run errands, and/or while they're doing chores.
I wear them with everything everywhere. I've chased my toddler around gymnastics and have also gone to my office job in them. I have never had any issue with leaking or movement. Be sure to read the sizing guide and reviews on fit. I love that I don't feel the moisture like when wearing a pad. They are just so comfortable. I've used both thinx and knix both are great. Thinx is available at Walmart so a better price then knix. I've also tried the Hanes ones and they aren't bad but definitely for light flow days. Hope that helps.😊
Uhhh, since when can you only use period underwear 30 times before having to toss it??? I've had my reusable pads for years & am planning to do the same for the period underwear
@@BelsaliasMarymaeh I've had mine for 6 years, and they're still fine? Starting to show normal wear and tear after this long, but they still absorb fine. 30 uses sounds like a marketing scam.
I had the exact same thought! As long as you follow the cleaning/laundry instructions they have a pretty long life! I have pairs from Knix and Period. and nowhere on the website do they suggest that they have a life expectancy lol
@@jboden0408 The Thinx website says, "Replace your Thinx at 30 washes." But I can't find any explanation! I keep using them as long as the elastic is good.
Me sitting here watching this video with the period underwear on that I’ve used for every period for at least 3 years, I’ve also never heard of this 30 use thing!
21:05 I love menstrual discs! Personally I found cups to give me cramps and I always leaked, I could never find the right placement after 2 years of trying to position it differently. I find the disc so much easier to insert, more comfortable and no leaks. I use the reusable disc by Saalt (I think, it’s at target). So interesting how different it can be from person to person.
My experience with the disc was life changing. I felt about menstrual cups the way Rachael felt about the disc and my discs were everything to me. I used the lumma disc because it had a “string” like a tampon so getting it out was way easier. Thanks for this video even though I had a hysterectomy over a year ago I love it! ❤❤
Looking at this wearing the SAME EXACT MODEL of Thinx is kinda wild lmao. I have been using mine for 4 years now, you'll never catch me go back to disposable pads or tampons lol
On Nexplanon and haven't had a period in YEARS but watching and loving anyways 😂 Crazy how diff PCOS is for people because i have that and my periods have always been pretty light, easy, and maybe only a few a year when not on birth control. The underwear sounds great for that!
Never TMI! But would love you guys to do another try video! Knix underwear is unmatched in my opinion! They also have swimwear and workout clothing with this in mind. Also the Nixit disk is a game changer!! I’d be so curious to see Rachel try that one!
Just coming here to promote the Ruby Cup menstrual cup! For every menstrual cup you buy they donate one to a girl without access to period products. They last for 10 years and I'm on my second one. Highly recommend!
I love my ruby cup. When I'm off birth control and my period is back and I'm going to buy a new ruby cup in a colour if they still do the coloured one. My clear one is no longer clear lol
25:40 I advocate for menstrual cups 100%!! It’s a bit of a learning curve and it takes a couple times to get used to it. But once you master it, it is the best thing in the world. I have SCUBA DIVED in a menstrual cup before and it still worked underwater. Everyone please stop using pads and tampons and switch to a menstrual cup!!
I’ve been using period panties for years now (modibodi brand) and I’m totally converted! I can use them alone if I want, but for extra security and longevity, I usually use them in conjunction with tampons. Even if I don’t think I’ll bleed through my tampon (or cup or disk) they make me feel at ease. I’m not worrying anymore if I’ll bleed through during a meeting or something. They’re definitely not as irritating as pads and you don’t have to worry about them being in the wrong position. They sell different absorbencies. I usually opt for max absorbency, again for security, but I appreciate lighter options if I’m wearing a thin pant and don’t want VPL. They even have thongs, swimwear, shorts, and leggings! Also, I’ve used them way over 30 times. I finally had to trash a few pairs when they were literally threadbare and falling apart after several years of use. I bought more and even plan to try them postpartum. Oh and 3-4 pairs is enough for me personally to cycle through them, wash, air dry, and wear again.
I’ve been using my cup for years now and I can honestly say I would NEVER go back to any other product! Eco friendly, easy to clean and super durable I will say it will take you time to learn how to insert in your body and remove but it’s just a learning curve, you might have to try different types of folds ✨🫶🏽 enjoyed the video as always
The diva cup is also one of the longest cups on the market, which is why you might be feeling it. You might need to try a different brand (or 5 different brands like me lol) to find one that works best for you! I bought the diva and could never *not* feel it… then I tried the June cup and it was SOO MUCH better!! They’re only $6-8 too so super affordable. It’s the only cup brand that I’ve tried that I love!!
Absolutely not TMI, I love that we're becoming more comfortable talking about something that is completely normal for all women to experience! I personally am a pad and leak-proof underwear kind of girlie, I don't care for insertables I just can't do it. I have found various brands of reusable pads and absolutely LOVE them! I saved so much money (especially while being a poor college student) not buying new pads all the time. I super appreciate y'all trying Thinx! It was one of those that with the price of them I was so worried about trying a new brand that I wasn't sure about the accountability of so I LOVE knowing I could trust them by themselves. For anyone looking for a fun period underwater brand, I typically buy from Harebrained but I wouldn't trust them by themselves unless it's a light/spotting day but they help bring some humor into such an annoying timeframe for me.
For me, when first trying the cup I was struggling a bit putting it in. After I started using another fold (switched from u-fold to punchdown-fold) it got much easier. And that's what I've kept doing for years now. Works for me 👌
Hi Jess! A brand recommendation for you is Modibodi. They say up to 100 washes (but I’ve had a couple of my pairs for four years, and they’re only now at the point I’m going to replace them). The heavy flow ones have the absorbent part right the way to the waistline, which might be more comfortable for you too. They also do swimwear!
I use the flex disc but I always “empty” it when I use the bathroom. When you pee you naturally relax your pelvic muscles then the seal loosens and whatever is inside empty’s into the toilet. Do a kegel to reseal and you’re good to go. It’s not like a cup where you don’t have to empty for 12 hours because you’re supposed to empty when you use the bathroom but it can stay in there for 12 hours! I love my discs!
PSA for us viewers please make sure you are registered to vote and have a plan to do so. Spread the word to your friends and family and research candidates!
Someone who has historically only used pads, and then got reusable pads, then period undies, i really appreciated this video. I reused my cloth pads for TEN YEARS. I’ve had my period undies for over 2 years now with no plans to get rid of them until they stop absorbing.
I am with Rachel. Menstrual cups are so good. If it is uncomfortable, try a different cup, a softer cup. There are charts online that help. Lunette was my favorite. Also, trying different folds for insertion is helpful, I liked the C fold. I tried the disc to have a backup disposable option. Again, with Rachel, it's not my thing.
I have been using a menstrual disc for years and absolutely love them! I chose a disc over a cup because i was told by my dr that a cup can in some cases suction out or displace your IUD. I love the lumee resusable disc and i always keep a stash of the flex disc single use in my bags incase my period starts unexpectedly
I tried the Flex discs first, to see if the idea worked for me, and I now have the rest of that pack stashed all over (one in each bathroom, one in the car, one in my diaper bag, one in my purse...) 😂
i have extremely heavy periods and often are bed ridden day 1 & 2 and swear by period underwear!! i use the ones by modibodi - they also make activewear, swimwear and loungewear with the gussets! they don’t have any PFAS either which have been found in other period underwear
I was a diehard tampon/period underwear girly and had a friend recommend the disk and I tried a couple of brands and had a similar experience to Rachel. I found a waterbased lube helped get things situatuated easier for the disk and then tried the cup and did the same thing. Took the insert time down from 6ish minutes to about 2.
Love to see this. I hate the cups, discs, regular pads and tampons after using thinx for 10 years. They literally changed my life. So comfortable and easy and no leaks. Literally maybe 3 in 10 years. And idc about the pfas, I may switch as mine give out but I love the thinx. I do agree the disc suck the most!
Jess! If you like the period undies I'd recommend trying cloth pads out too, they obviously work a bit more like regular pads but they are reusable and washable. I have some I have used for almost 10 years now and they are still holding up great!
Love this! So educational!! I switched from pads to Knix period underwear a bit over a year ago and I could never go back! So convenient, so easy, less leaks and sooooo comfy for sleep! If anything, get sleep shorts for overnight. The absolute best thing ❤
My reusable flex disc changed my life after I had my baby! I couldn’t use tampons anymore they were way too painful. Highly recommend discs for anyone who’s ever been curious! Disc period panty combo is a game changer
Sierra, definitely keep using the cup!! I started using it at a similar age as Rachel and I never looked back!! Maybe you can watch some videos about how to insert it and take it out, I remember that I had really amazing instructions and once it clicked, it was soo easy and foolproof. I was on a trip recently where I had forgotten to bring my cup and had to go back to tampons for one period- UGH! Life is so much better with the cup. I also have never had problems having it in while exercising or running. Maybe you need a smaller size? I just came across a forum where a user recommends the website "put a cup in it" where you can do a quiz to help you find the right cup. Maybe that will help!
I’ve been using a Diva cup for over a decade now, and somewhere along the line, I forgot about the twisting to seal. 😂 For whatever reason, it still works perfectly for me. You should not feel it when it’s in. I cut the stem off completely and sand the nub down smooth. It’s genuinely changed my life. I don’t even mind having my period anymore.
I love seeing all these comments - periods can feel like such an isolating experience, but this is a nice reminder that it's something so many of us go through. I love the cup, I used to sometimes get uncomfy with the small stick, so I bought one that doesn't have that and that made a huge improvement for me. I've never bothered with period pads because whenever I've looked at them in store, the sizing has not been inclusive at all, which was immediately disappointing.
I loved this video!! I would have loved to see the conversations that happened with like Sierra and Rachel and then Sierra and Jess talking about tips or stuff for wearing the Diva Cup and then Sierra's experiences and stuff she liked with using the period panties. Overall a great video on a very universally relatable topic!!! Thank y'all!!!
Not gonna lie, period underwear is lowkey game-changing.I can now sleep soundly at night and not be stressed every morning. I have sensory issues so I could never with pads and even a sleeping on a towel feels weird to me ( basically I don’t fully sleep if I try to sleep on one, never grew out of it). I honestly just have a couple pairs of period undies and I am good to go whenever, wherever. It is helpful since I work in a lot of rural places so you can’t exactly just go grab some pads or tampons quick if you forget them or get caught off guard. If I had had that as a teen I would have never believed anyone if they said it would be available. Haven’t tried the swim versions but I think that is so cool.
I’ve been a cup and cloth pad user since 2019 and I’m so happy with the experience I’ve had. My periods are so much more enjoyable now (or as enjoyable as they can be).
@RachelRambles as a menstrual cup lover, thank you for putting me off menstrual discs forever and ever. I’ve always been curious if they were worth the hype.
Sierra you should try cutting the stem of your menstrual cup! It might be sticking out a little which it shouldn’t be because it causes chafing and discomfort. Rachel, your body might just be better suited for cups! I have a low cervix so small cups work much better for me than disks because the disk slips out from my pubic bone
Menstrual cup girly here! Die hard in fact. But im currently on day 3/4 of my period and I’ve been trying a reusable Flex disc for the first time and honestly im impressed. I have a very heavy flow, day 2 especially. And yes it’s a bit messier but removal and insertion is rated higher for me with the disc than the cup🤷🏽♀️Way less leaks with the disc tho for me, BECAUSE of the self emptying aspect. My cup gets too full too fast on my heavy days that it’s not worth it but with the disc I didn’t have that issue. Not sure if im a full convert but it’s my experience so far!
This is NOT TMI!!! I love this! Love love love this!!! More realistic product reviews like this! Yall are so real in your reviews and I LOVE it. Also JESS ugh watching you struggle. I know that feeling and the hip pain is awful and always feeling like my butt is falling out 🤣 so much pressure!
Loved this video! Thank you for normalising a topic that would normally be too taboo or TMI to talk about. Hope you make more videos like this in the future ❤ I’d love to see more opinions from the other ladies!!
Not exaggerating when I say that the Diva Cup changed my life!! I'm glad to see you all trying these things out -- it can be so intimidating to try something like this but this is like having a friend tell you how it works :)
I have a menstrual cup! Love it. In terms of getting used to it, I did remember reading it can take up to 2-3 period cycles to get used to the methods of inserting/taking the cup out. So don’t feel discouraged if it’s difficult to remove. I actually remove mine while on the toilet to avoid mess.
These are exactly the type of videos I was hoping for with the start of the collective…love this style!! I think that’s why the bra vid is my favorite! ❤️
Rachel’s commitment is so admirable. I would have absolutely quit and called it a loss.
Definitely not TMI!!! This is very informative for people with periods that are looking for alternatives!
@@QUEENSAS1 I didn’t know the word “people” was so insulting. lol go touch grass and chill out
@@QUEENSAS1 I rolled my eyes hard too when I read "people with periods" 😂
@@hannahcorcoran7513 yes!! I always forget there’s other options than tampons or pads!
Thank you for including men who have periods as well. My father who gave birth to me burst into tears when he saw this video.
@@QUEENSAS1I’ll pray for the hatred to be removed from your weak sad heart
Rachel, flex makes a reusable disc and it’s less rigid and is MORE SUSTAINABLE!! My holy grail for sure
Same^^^^
Thiss!!! I LOVE my reusable disc and, although it self empties, it always goes back to place afterwards so I keep it in for 12 hr no problem
THIS! And sizing is super important! I almost gave up on discs until I realized I just needed a smaller one. Now its PERFECT.
#1 I love Jess…”the power of oxiclean”
#2 I’m dead at Sierra and the giant pamphlet 😅 😂
Check out Period brand! They have plus sizes and some styles are under $10
Just love this comment. Love Jess in videos and love the value of the collective for multiple perspectives on so many things!!
6 pairs for $30 each vs $30 of pads and tampons every month....i've had my period undies for maybe 3 years now? they are also significantly more comfortable. cleaner as well. you don't have to change it every few hours. i wear one for daytime and one for nighttime. my period went from a week long to 3 days and very light. it's bc of the pads and tampons that make your period so heavy and long. give it a chance.
the target period blood dump is horrifying, god bless rachel
Mine did that once because it's too big. I wonder if Rachel would need a smaller disc. It's probably not worth troubleshooting if she's happy with her cup though
rachel’s experience with the disc is so validating because i had the same one. i HATE those things! will def be trying the cup
Complete opposite for me, couldn't get the cup to work for me comfortably. Tried reusable disc, so much better.
This is the one I use! So much better than any other cup I’ve tried
Yes!!! Came here to say this! Love my flexcup
100%. I liked the diva cup ok, but the flex cup solved the breaking the seal problem. Love my flex cup!!
Try different folding methods before your period comes to see which way works the best, so you’re not stressing and learning when your period already is here 😊
As a woman in my early 40s, I am so glad to see content like this available for young girls. 💖
Same,in my mid twenties
Rachel should stick with her menstrual cup and Sierra should try a reusable disc (recommend the Hello Disc). Still empty in the shower ✨
Here to also recommend the Hello disc. What a game changer. And this is coming from a 40-year-old woman who used tampons all these years.
(I tried the flex throw away ones and hated them)
Came here to say this!!!
Yes! I love the disc but I hate the cup. A cup hurts me and causes as much extra cramping as a tampon does
It’s got to be anatomical. The discs make my vagina feel sore after a day or two, but I’ve never felt my cup and am religiously loyal to it!
There are also different sizes of cups, I feel very lucky that the first one I tried worked so well for me because the options were overwhelming 😂 there is a quiz called putacupinit which can help lots, though, they have a quiz for both cups and discs! Their site was super helpful in my research ^^
Neither work for me, and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong
Love love love my flex disc!!!
I feel the same. I have HEAVY flows, use the disc's and haven't had issues like I would for tampons
Quick question if you don’t mind. Do you get that “wet” feeling with the underwear like you would with pads?
@@roser6963 For me, it was only slightly. Idk if it's because the blood gets soaked in instead of sitting on top, but I didn't get the same cold wet feeling like with a pad
@@AlexJosephDesigns thank you so much for responding. I appreciate you.
@@roser6963 No problem!
Also Victora secret has them as well so when they have a big sale they are usually included 😊
I ended up cutting the stem of the diva cup shorter and I never felt it again! Something to try!
I did that too. It made such a difference! ✨
same!!
I’ve run with a cup for years and never had issues with feeling it if it was in high enough and once the stem was trimmed. Definitely agree with giving it a try.
Same, I have used a cup (Mooncup) since 2009 but had to remove the stem for it to work for my body.
I was going to say this! The stem is awful once I cut it off I don’t feel it at all
As someone with a HEAVYY flow, the cup is That Girl
Omg when Rachel was talking and her little bub’s legs were just going off to the side was so funny and cute hahaha
Sierra- the June cup is my absolute favorite, so much more comfy and easier to use than the diva! I’ve tried 10 or more cups and I’ll never use another besides the June cup again.
The discs are literally my favorite period invention of all time. Life changing.
Same!!! I’ve been using them for a few years now and will never go back to Tampons.
Sameeeee. Especially after having a baby. Disc period panty combo is elite !
What brands do you guys recommend for reusable??
@@deidref96 reusable flex disc works great for me but we’re all different ! I recommend taking a period disc quiz from period nirvana. She has an amazing UA-cam channel and also created her own disc as well that has a pull string ! But her quiz recommends all diff kinds based on your answers !
@@deidref96I love using Flex disc!
My seating issues have only been from #1, I learned pretty early on that I need to empty my bladder before inserting, OR ELSE! tmi version below:
Your bladder can press on it, which can cause it to leak if you don't pee often enough while it's inserted, but it was one of my first few cycles with a cup, and I didn't realize the pressure of a relatively full bladder would also prevent a seal upon insertion... until one day by chance I inserted first, THEN went #1, and it torpedoed out of me comically fast, so I had to re-boil it 🤣I had JUST got it cooled down from its original boil-of-the-month, so... at least the pan was still out 😂 Now I always hit the toilet first, even if I don't think I really need to, THEN insert, luckily never had the same issue again (although it only took one incident to condition me to be ready to catch it any time it shifts on the john, hahaha)
Yup! Me too!!my cervix drops during my period so it definitely comes down to anatomy
The hello disc is a game changer!!
10/10 I’ll never go back
I love this so much. I caught myself talking back to yall with my own comments. I find this so informative and relatable
Also there are so many different companies who offer smaller, softer, stiffer etc.
I love the Diva disc! It’s reusable, more comfortable than the cup and has a pull tab that helps when you take it out. Best of both worlds
I love how openly and comfortably you all talked about this issue! Bravo!
I'm 34 and have never been able to stick a tampon up there. The thought of even trying a cup of disc scares the crap out of me
Same, I'm 40 now tried tampons at 18 and just couldn't get them in. I've been using reusable pads for about 8 years and they are great.
For me, being on birth control solved the problem. I'm sorry you had to go through surgery but at least you are better now!
For me, having kids solved the problem. But that's not a practical solution for everyone hahaha
Cup girly all the way!!! I specifically use the Flex cup as a first time user and probably will never go back! It has the pulling mechanism that breaks the seal and comes out like a tampon! Love it!
sierra - look up the push down fold!! it’s my go to fold and I find it way easier to insert! you can also trim the stem if you feel it!
Yeah that's what I thought, never got to master the C-fold, punch down is so much better
Push down fold is queen
Yes! I trim the stem to nothing because it bothers me. Great once I worked that out!
I was thinking the same thing!
I love these kind of videos. NOT TMI at all!! Last year, I switched from pad tp period underwear and that was the best decision I ever made.
Looking at this wearing the SAME EXACT MODEL of Thinx is kinda wild lmao. I have been using mine for 4 years now, you'll never catch me go back to disposable pads or tampons lol
This was such a good video. I loved how honest everyone was with the challenges of trying something new.
On Nexplanon and haven't had a period in YEARS but watching and loving anyways 😂 Crazy how diff PCOS is for people because i have that and my periods have always been pretty light, easy, and maybe only a few a year when not on birth control. The underwear sounds great for that!
Love this! I've tried all of these and the disks are my fave but not more than tampons
Love this! I’m due to replace mine soon I’ll take a look!
I just wish it was more than one period for these products because they all say it could take a couple cycles to get used to the product
DISC TIP! Push it in straight back like a drawer, not up like a tampon
I wish I had a video like this when I was younger. Excellent job. I will share this with my grandchildren.
I love the disc!! It might honestly just be slightly different anatomy that makes some love it & some hate it. For me, I LOVE it!!
I would have loved to be able to see a review like this when I was first getting my period. Thanks for fighting the talking about periods stigma!
For bad periods, ask your gp about tranexamic acid for excess bleeding and mefenamic acid for pain. LIFE-CHANGING
This video is a video I needed. I've been curious about these 3 menstrual products so definitely thank you
They should have started with a quiz to find the best fit
Agree, seems they went in pretty blind here lol
Thank you ladies for being vulnerable and sharing your thoughts/experiences!
The fact that I’m on my period watching this feels like such a personalized treat!!
Period BOXERS! they are the best! Extra protection and coverage and absorbency!
Rachel, I had a similar experience with discs at first. I got the flex reusable disc and it was life changing for me
Yeah I think the disposable ones are way different . Love my flex ! It literally changed everything for me lol
Love this type of content so much.
Just came to the comments to say that Jess' period does not sound normal or regular!
Long nails friends get a nail scrub brush if you use the disc or cup!
