How many people would've liked for Eris to have kept this form going forward? Would've been a great way to introduce new Hive NPCs choosing to follow her instead of Savathun or Xivu Arath.
I think the problem with that they stated was a couple things-- • She's only about 70% hive here, and it's absolutely wrecking her mind and body. • The hives physiology in this context is too easily controlled by darkness as it's weaved through them. So we'd've probably had to fight her or find a fool proof control mechanism for her. • This spell was created by Savathun, it has clauses that form a trap, Eris only evaded this by rejecting its logic. So in all, the only way she'd be able to do this safely again and keep a superhuman form, would be to add more to it somehow. Tho it is probably safest now as the witness is dead, cause that was very likely the voices she heard.
i have been playing since the release of lightfall and nothing has come even close to the quality of content we received in the season of the witch, and yes i am including everything the final shape offered

To be fair out of all the lore in Destiny I think the hive lore was not on the chopping block during development.
