I have the same console E01 and this console has the PS2 GPU and not the CPU so only half of the PS2 hardware is present so the CPU is Emulated by the Cell processor.

The limited means that the E01 has less compatibility than the B01 and the A01. Also some games have issues running because of the software emulation and those same issues have transferred to the digital PS2 games on the Playstation store. At least the ones that do have issues.
I wish documentation existed for the Japanese models, I know the first gen PS3's are BC but did they ever get the partial emulation PS3's or was that just a system made for the west.
I just got a CECHG01 today from a local flea market. Pretty good deal, $99. I never really knew there were this many differences in the backwards compatible and non-backwards models. The things I noticed were that it had 2 USB ports as opposed to 4 on the backwards compatible model. I also saw that the disc drive was less shiny as opposed to the shiny chrome on the backwards compatible one. I also didn't even notice that the lettering "PLAYSTATION 3" were less shiny either. I had an 80 gb backwards compatible just like the one in this video that I got used last year. It only lasted about 2 months, and then it got YLOD. I'm just curious, does the non-backwards compatible fat model still overheat as bad as the backwards compatible ones? I just hope I don't get burned again.
