i had a pw80 as a kid, loved it, flogged it and it kept on going through me, my younger brother and sister. Beast of a machine. Throttle got stuck one day and i launched it half way up a fallen tree before i bailed out haha. bike took a nose dive off the top of tree, picked it up and she started up no problem.
I had a brand new pw80 in 1993. The throttle also stuck wide open with me on two occasions resulting in crashes in the first few months of having it. Finally the local dealership did something to fix it. The bike took a beating for several years I had it though.
I started on a pw50 and it's the reason for my obsession today. I remember racing around as a child pretending I was "showtime" Jeremy mcgrath racing around my back yard. Now I'm 32 and I have kids that ride and it's incredible bonding time. A family that plays together stays together
I got one of these when I was a kid. Rode it until about 15 years old when I was 5’10 and 260 pounds. 😂😂 I loved that thing though. So many amazing memories.
I started on hand me down bikes starting first on 84’ yellow pw50 and moved up to my older sisters early 90s pw80 that was white/purplish pink I believe it was. I was embarrassed of the color, but hell, I loved that thing as a kid. It got me where I am today in love with dirtbikes and a decent rider. My sister and me rode the hell out of these, I did so many rides with my dad on our pw80, Ran reliable til the day he sold it and I they got me a 87’ xr100 with a clutch to learn on.
These are great little bikes. I picked up a 2000 pw80 online for 60$! It was missing top end, carb and air box. $350 in and a little elbow grease and it’s like a new motorcycle. The kids love it and I like riding it too! I’m 6’2” and 200lbs lol
Great video! This comes at a perfect time because I want to start getting my kids into riding. Definitely looking at some older bikes and hadn’t really considered this one. Thanks!
I got it with blown engine. After $40 Chinese cylinder kit, some hand porting, cylinder deck lowering, new and opened reeds and bigger jets she blows over 200 psi compression...wicked to ride by an adult...the only limiting factor is factory rev limiter... 😁
This is a great idea for a series. My son is growing both in size and ability and it's hard to see how bikes fit without making a (usually long) drive to look at one. I love that you show two different height kids sitting on the bike. Keep it up RMATV
How many miles would a bike like that get on a tank gas? I’ve got a 25 mile trail trip for the kiddos this summer and am calculating fuel requirements. Any tips appreciated. ❤
You should be able to get over 30 miles on a full tank but it really depends on the terrain and how the rider is riding. Bringing a small bottle of extra fuel wouldn't be a bad idea!
Hey, love your vids! I have a PY80 which is a copy of PW80. My question is: if you don't use oil tank (which is under the seat), what is the mixture for PW80?
It really depends on where you're at. If you're at sea level then yes, you may need to lean it out some. If you're at elevation, then it might be spot on. Won't know til you try it out.
@@bentleybrocco9284 I have some random performance exhaust.. (i dont remember what its called :/) and the fiberglass baffling or whatever it is is all gone and it has the spark arrestor in it still so it doesnt rape peoples ears..
I literally just picked one of these up today for my niece, since she’s always wanting to ride with my two kids. But of course, kids being kids once it’s someone else’s turn to ride, they want it to be their turn again right away. I went on your website, I’m looking for a complete top end. The bike I bought is super clean but needs a top end. I got it for 150bucks. So with a new top end the bike will be good to go again. Wondering if you guys sell a complete top end kit or could help me get a complete package to do the top end, and that way I can get it running again
Hello from Denmark, great video, simple and easy to undestand. Just got my kid a pw80. Whats the max weight/kg. it can carry without being damaged? Kind Regards. Mr. Nielsen
I don't know if they give an actual "max" load for this bike. I will say that adults cruz around on these all the time haha. So if you're "asking for a friend", you should be fine haha .
The bike Chase used in this video was actually my kids bike. You should have seen what it looked like before Chase and his team did the makeover on it. For what it's worth, I rode the bike almost as much as my kids did and I weigh about 190 lb. It's so quick and easy to start, and then just ZIP down the road to get the mail, or run a quick errand to a neighbor's house. That little bike is so durable and easy to work on.
What's an approximate value/cost for a used one and is it silly to start this small for a 13 year old inexperienced rider that's 5'7" already? Small is safe to me and I see adults ride these online lol
Yes these bikes are oil injected. You still use 2 stroke oil, like Yamalube 2-S, there is just a separate oil tank under the seat that you fill instead of mixing it yourself. Thanks for watching!
For your engine oil (oil injection tank) Yamaha recommends Yamalube 2-S or air-cooled 2-stroke engine oil. For transmission oil Yamaha recommends Yamalube 4 (10W30) or SAE 10W30 type motor oil.
Rocky Mountain ATV MC a 230 might be a bit large I’m 5ft 3 and can barley flat foot one I ride an 85 with almost flat foot I was thinking a 125 for this person 👍
Yes, these bikes have a choke. It should be on the left side of the bike, to the right of the carburetor and above the engine case where it says Yamaha. You can see it in the top middle of the screen at 1:01 in this video.
In order to sell OEM parts, you must sell that specific brand through a dealership. Rocky Mountain has several brick and mortar dealerships where we sell all the brands we have OEM parts for. Unfortunately, right now we don't sell Gas Gas bikes so we don't carry their OEM parts.
Recently bought a 2005 Pw80 and its awesome! Im 24, 5’7 150 pounds and this thing still has as much power as I remember from when I was 8 years old.
Im about 5 11 do u think it woulf br alright for me
My first bike when I was 14, great bike for beginners and made me a 2 stroke rider for life❤️

He does a great job! Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the video. You answered all of my sizing questions, thanks to your helpers too.
I’m 10 years old and I’m 5 foot 2. I ride a PW80 and it’s quite smooth.
mrbeast123123OO I’m 5 ft 3 and I ride a 85 much taller you should upgrade
Currently working on a 2001 PW80. Hoping to get it running today!

Im going to look at one today...a 98 original owner still has restricter plate in it listed for 550 obo
Good luck. That sounds like a great bike at a really solid deal.
Two stroke- I wish everyone still made two strokes. They are so much easier to work on and cheaper.
They are!
Suzuki DRZ70 next please!!!
my son is 12, but on the small side. Looking for a starter bike for him to use out behind our new house. Would this be ok or is it to small?
Do you need to rejet after removing the restrictor plate? Also any more power gain tips?

The Yamaha pw80 is so good
Could you guys do a review on the ttr 90? I find it a good bike
Thanks for the suggestion. TTR 90's are great little bikes.
I have a ttr90 and the thing RIPPS. it is so powerful compared to my other small dirtbikes.
@@bentleybrocco9284 yESSS They also sound so gud with a better exhaust than stock.. So rowdy.. Especially if its built..
Mine has the baffle taken out and a power tip slipped on to raise back pressure so I have more low end torque.

I just got one and i love it
Hi, I would love to know where you bought those graphics from? I been looking for them
For the pw80 i would def look into better bars I bent mine a couple times then they snapped

Congrats on the new bike, that seems like an amazing deal! What year is your PW80?
Rocky Mountain ATV MC I’m assuming it’s a mid 1995-late 90’s. I only got a bill of sale and I paper work so I’m truly not sure what year it is.
Rocky Mountain ATV MC it’s white and blue plastics with yellow writing
really interested in a review on a crf50 👍

Yes they are. Pretty bulletproof.
Watch the seals on that crank they tend to go bad

My first motorcycle 🤙
I have a question for the pw80 so it's a two stroke but you don't add any 2-stroke oil just the regular oil changes with regular motor oil ???
Yes these bikes are oil injected. You still use 2 stroke oil, like Yamalube 2-S, there is just a separate oil tank under the seat that you fill instead of mixing it yourself.
Thanks for watching!
This is how reviews should be perfect
I am from Iran, I have a Yamaha 80, my engine starts, but it does not start for several days, can you tell me the reason
great pit bike thats why i have one
Wait... you don’t need to mix fuel, I was always mixing my fuel, I have a 1989 pw80, smh. Was this bad for my motor?
No, it's pretty common for people to not use the oil injection system or completely remove it on these bikes.
my Tips is open up the exhaust outlet and take the restrictor out of the silencer and she's a little ripper
Hey im starting tonout grow my pw80 and im lookojg for something bigger any good cheaper bikes
I’m 20 an I still love my pw 80 pretty fast pit bike

remember when i rode my pw80 good times
*Broken leaf* Good times, on good bikes!
what type of oil do i put under the seat in that container
The pw80 is perfect size for chase
What oil should we use in the pw80?
For your engine oil (oil injection tank) Yamaha recommends Yamalube 2-S or air-cooled 2-stroke engine oil. For transmission oil Yamaha recommends Yamalube 4 (10W30) or SAE 10W30 type motor oil.
Thank you. Someone give my daughter a 2004 pw80. It's awesome, this video helped us.

A yes thanks

Hay will you guys carry gas gas? You guys don't offer parts for them.
*Element 115* Never say never, but as of right now we do not sell Gas Gas OEM parts. We do sell some aftermarket though.
Rocky Mountain ATV MC why don't you guys carry oem gas gas parts, Is it because they're a small company?
In order to sell OEM parts, you must sell that specific brand through a dealership. Rocky Mountain has several brick and mortar dealerships where we sell all the brands we have OEM parts for. Unfortunately, right now we don't sell Gas Gas bikes so we don't carry their OEM parts.
Rocky Mountain ATV MC oh ok, hopefully you will someday 👍
