Hope your father is doing well brother. Really enjoying your content. Born and raised up north of you in Santa Cruz. Just began fishing again after a long time away from it. Caught my PB BSP last night on a LC 110 Glow Sardine thanks to you Bro! Keep up the great work brother. Cheers from your Nor Cal Fam!
Zman plastic floats and is absorbent. You can add scent to the package and it will permeate the plastic. Floating the bait up off the sand gives it strike placement like a high low rig but free movement like a Carolina rig.
Edward, those are sure working on the barred perch! I bought several packs of Crusteaz back during your initial reveal of Bobby's secret bait. I also enjoy the other flavors like spawn and blood. Darn good baits!
Sending prayers for your Dad 🙏❤️. I love watching videos with you and him 🎣 🥰 I remember when you introduced the cruesteaz. They worked well when we used them when camping in Jalama.
I still use the zman crusty last weekend . Caught limits of perch Missed you at the fisherman's life street fair. I wanted to meet you ,I got there early in the morning had to leave for family thing in afternoon.
I got my first ever surf perch with this plastic bait today on Montara Beach. I watch that video when Bob reveal his secret bait multiple times and tried it today and yeah. Got my 1st ever surf perch.
That looks like a great sand flea imitation! Totally worth keeping in the tackle box. Maybe you’ll get on another epic bite with them soon. I say this experiment was a success. 👌
I am jealous you guys are able to catch perch down in central/socal. Jack Smelt is all we got in Monterey bay … haven’t seen a perch in several months!
While yes, jacksmelt have been following the bait balls that have literally come to shore, flatties and stripers have been following too. Also caught 5 12"+ perch just yesterday in Monterey not even directly targeting them on a kastmaster.
I keep trying cruesteaz but only ever catch a single perch. I've got way more success with 2" or 3" big hammer swimbaits (baitfish or smelt color) even over any curly grubs. I need to try out the crappie sliders.
Very cool video Ed, it was a pleasure to meet you and Leroy at the Fisherman's Life Fair. I had the Fresh'N'Salty tshirt on. Hey where do you find the wave power from? Thanks
I'm another bay area native who enjoys fishing. Could you recommend some good surf fishing gear like pants and boots? I'm also a salt strong member so I can get a discount there. I currently have an 8 foot medium power rod.
@@petera1117 thank you for the reply, been fishing the Oceano area for the last couple months and was doing well for size and quantity, fished all my good spots this last weekend and only caught a few keeper size, lots of little ones. Seems the larger fish are either out deeper or have moved up north a ways.
Thank you for your reply, my experience was exactly the same, I have been fishing the Oceano area since July with good numbers and size until my last two trips, almost all small barred surf perch with only a few keeper size, I used about everything in my tackle box to search and destroy but they seemed to like the Camo Gulp worms and the pumpkin seed crappie sliders the best. I threw 110 Calissa and LC as well and didn't even get a strike! Tight lines my friend and may your rod get bent hard!
Thanks for the vid. Two questions: 1) are these baits scented like gulp? And if not is there any benefit to using hot sauce or other attractants? 2) could you use a circle hook? Granted the shanks are typically shorter but I think I could still rig one here.
Great question! Haven’t tried it but a big concern would be if the circle hook could cause the bait to spin too much as it pulls through the water. The straight shank keeps the bait straight. Some scent could be a good idea too as these are unscented. Thanks for the great question
I use a red bead right above the hook to resemble eggs, seems to work.

Used the Crusteaz last Sunday - worked great after getting nothing on the Calissa. Great video as usual - thanks!

It was great to revisit that secret bait video
Thanks for the tip on the net. I used it today and it was perfect
Glad it helped!
Thanks so much Edward. My Krusteaz have just been laying in my fishing bag for a while, and I’ll give them a try next session!
Gave them z's a try and almost limited! i wish i didn't skip the glue part lol!
Thanks, Hook2Cook n Friends!
Yes they do I got some I love them.

Wow what a coincidence!
Did you hear about the dorado bite happened in the san Pedro Catalina area they where getting huge numbers on 22nd landing
Hahaha... great. I'm going to get some of these for when I take my Mom out with me. She's always asking for "a new one" and "a fun one" 😅😁

Went out of Morro Bay in our Boat and got 3, 5 lb plus Vermillion rockfish and got our limits on other misc. rockfish. Fish tacos baby.
I’m going to try those on pompano, now that we live on the eastern shore of Florida. Sand crabs are the favored diet for pompano as well 🤙
Sounds great! hopefully theyre as visual as perch
Yeah haven't seen your Dad out there with you. Prayers his doing well !!! 🙏🤙🎣 As always love your content and videos !!🙌🙌🤙🎣😀

Come up to Santa Cruz there are plenty
@@Vermonstered Nice!
Nice haul! They worked back then, no reason not to work today.
You got that right! the biggest thing, is back then there were so many more sandcrabs... either that or they're not as visible right now
Ah man I use them all the time in Oregon. They work great for Red Tail Surf Perch.
Good to know!
I got a couple packs of those. I'll give them the test here at the Oregon Coast..
yes! they might work there
Great job dude going with an OG tight video keep pushing dude
It's great to have them back after being MIA For a bit of time
Spoke too soon

Looks like a ghost shrimp… except they have 1 claw but I’m sure the fish don’t care 🤣….nice trick with the glue!
the glue is a must with this material!
Thanks for the video. Yes ZMan still works. Glue and hot sauce or patis 👍🤙🎣🦀😂
You bet
I learned da hard way dat they can melt to other baits 🤦🏻♂️😂

Yeah! That fair is always a good time! Great meeting you as well. The wave power is surf-forecast.com
Ok Thank you
Hey bro love the content! Can you specify exactly what size and kind of hook you’re using would really appreciate it.🤙🏽

How long is the leader that’s tied to the braid to your swivel ?
Hello bro, what season is fishing for perch? thanks
All year long
Can you introduce good fishing spots? I live in Southern California, thank you so much.
Love the videos! what beach was this at?
He is up in NorCal. The entire west coast has perch. But they seem to get bigger the further north you are.
Find the hole. The beach doesn’t matter. Watch his videos on how to read the surf.

It would be interesting to test against the custom baits.
it's all going to come down to the perch's preference that day. a test over a year would be really interesting! haha
Great vid! What super glue do you use? The one I have keeps drying up in the bottle.
Haha lock tite. Gotta spend a little more and get the nice bottle 🤣

do you have a link to those fishing pliers?
I don’t know if I remember pliers in this video
@@Hook2Cook Its only for a sec at 11:51 you bust out some sleek looking black hemostat pliers. Tried looking for them but couldn't find one like that
@@oppaFISHYstyle found these ones very similar amzn.to/3ScOQqL
I had difficulty to put them on hook
yes, you gotta do it a little at a time and takes practice, but you don't have to replace them as often as other grubs so it evens out.
Man yall wiped out Amazon and Walmart of the crustez haha
Oops 😆
@@Hook2Cook had to go on tackle direct and pay for shipping 🤦haha
super glue is the ticket..
Oh ya fishing with crusty.
