Cheers to Erin for finally overpowering Herrine's big energy.
I bet I could if I were on the show :)
Herrine is still way hotter
Xander panda erm....

You probably need Sweden's largest waterfall in several hours to put out the fire from the hot, salty food ->

Tommy DiNics was one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. You two can like what you like but every time I'm in Philly, first stop will always be DiNics.
Tommy DiNic’s is best Roast Pork sandwich !!! I've detoured 4 hours just to get a few to take home !!! It is UNMATCHED !!!!!
My mom made me sandwiches, leftover meat two pieces of bread. I Remember every one. Thanks Ma
Cherish every moment with her. I miss mine terribly...

7:44 Actually spinach is the "traditional" roast pork sandwich topping, since John's literally invented the sandwich. Broccoli rabe is just more well known these days.
That's good intel! Any source for this, by the way? I believe you I just like to be a nerd and note things with sources if I can :D
Makes me want to be a Rockstar Eater in Philly!
@@nathanchase1297 Read paragraph 7 from the 2012 article "Great American Bites: Philly's other famous sandwich" from abcnews. Pretty sure there is other sources too, this was just a quick search.
And bitter doesn't belong on the sandwich. Not to mention you can remove the bitterness with different cooking techniques but I guess they like the taste of garbage.
@@nathanchase1297 Google : who invented the roast pork sandwich in Philidelphia and John's Roast Pork comes up. Check it out.
I probably would love all of 'em:D I love the way you two carried out the mission, nice.
more Best In Town episodes pls!! i missed watching this 😩
Food Insider, great video! Enjoy your Sunday! 💯🙏👐
Love Adam Richman in the video😁,even after he retired from food wating,he still remembered, because he is the legend😁
He hasn't retired from food, he still does a lot of food based stuff. He has a few new TV shows in the works, he is planning on travelling the world trying different foods, but the pandemic has put it all on hold. Until then he is always rocking up on the biggest food themed YT channels eating.
I love these videos I binge watch them all today
Same
My mouth is watering like a waterfall by just watching and reminiscing about having a Dinics pork sandwich for “Breakfast “ the morning after the Fleetwood Mac concert in Philly a couple years ago. Mmmmmmm
John's roast pork is awesome and they also make one of the best cheesesteaks in Philly.
Don't forget their breakfast sandwiches. I was rarely up early enough to make it over there for them but god they were fantastic.
When you consider Katz’s deli in NY sandwich is north of $20...this is an absolute bargain at 8 bucks
I got 3 sandwiches and it was like 74 bucks total 😭😭😭 this truly a highway robbery
Katz is such a ripoff... they charge for their name. 100% sure there’s better pastrami in NYC.
Katz's is a certified tourist trap these days
Right
John's hands down... when I drive down to Philly from New Hampshire that's the only thing I can think about...cant beat it..
They're all winners. Everyone has their own taste buds and budget.
Please more! Best of the best is my absolute favorite! I need more Herrin in my life 😅
Oh my while seeing them eat.....my mouth is legit watering 🤤🤤🤤🤤
You'll eat this someday. Remember me when you do :)
This is like a Chicago beef sandwich. This looks delish!!
Love this, because while they are giving their opinion, it invites you to go try them for yourself! My partner and I are looking forward to traveling once things return to normal and its safe to travel. Can't wait to try everything!
(Edit) Way to go Erin! So proud 😭
Things are normal now. Thanks to Billions or wonderful Individuals 😘
DiNic's is my favorite by far...maybe I need to try John's Roast Pork again but it was overly salty (maybe the sharp provolone?) but they all use sharp provolone...I just thought DiNic's was way above John's Roast Pork and High Street on Market was really really good but elevated and hard to compare in regards to the OGs
DiNics has the best bread
Johns roast pork is my favorite. That sesame rolll is something else.
Wow man?thank you for you share the video
This is making me sooooo hungry!
I'll send you some food in spirit.
Thanks for the video
In Italy, this sandwich is called Panini Con Porchetta Di Ariccia. While the toppings can vary, a very common topping in Italian sandwiches is sautéed rapini (aka broccoli rabe), which can be found in many Italian sandwich shops and restaurants everywhere. It has more texture and bite than spinach in addition to the bitterness that can offset the fattiness of the meat, and balanced out with other pickled and spicy toppings. Spinach is used more as a filling in pastas due to how soft it becomes. Rapini is the traditional, and IMHO the better choice for a sandwich.
You said that all very well, but I just wanna add that using spinach over broccoli rabe is a rookie move.
@@toddfulda2948maybe, maybe not lol 🍞🥪🥦🥬
You too do a great job keep up the good work.
I'm from Philly. A year ago I moved to Italy. I would kill for a John's Roast Pork sandwich roght now. There's nothing like it here. I've eaten roast pork sandwiches from many places in Philly. IMO, no one touches John's.
You're in Italy? Have you tried the porchetta? I mean c'mon they make killer porchetta sandwiches in Italy.
@@cb5754 I love good porchetta but it is different from what John's serves so I consider them to be different things. Most porchetta here is made with pork belly while I believe John''s uses pork shoulder. Both are delicious but are as different as a steak is to prime rib. I miss the deliciousness of the spinach, sharp provolone and the shoulder cut. I don't ask for anyone to weep for me being "relegated" to porchetta. Plus I can drive to the towns of Barolo and Barbaresco in under an hour to emjoy the porchetta with our local wines.
@@foodprofessor4056 John uses the pork butt part of the shoulder which is easier to slice. The regular shoulder cut is what most home cooks use. I use my mom's recipe for roast pork that she learned as a teen 90 years ago when she worked at a place in the Italian market in Philly. I envy your stay in Italy. I love it there.
Way better than a cheese steak for sure, no contest. Three great places to hit in Philly. Each of those places is worth trying at the end of the day, the "Redding" Terminal Market is a must visit and one door over from the Jefferson street train station. John's, that's probably where I would take someone for their first roast pork in Philly. High Street on Market is a great place, but if I went there tomorrow, I'm not sure that would be my first choice from there menu, which isn't meant to be a slight against their take on a Philly icon.
I love these 2 broads. Philly is happy to have you!
Now I’m hungry lol. I just had a cheesesteak today from south Philly as a treat to myself. I live in Delaware now so the next time I’m in the city johns roast pork will be next 😋
Have you ever tried Delesandros? They are also pretty good
@@preshizpink4340 I have heard of them but never tried yet. I heard they are really good too 👍🏽. That will go on my list for places to try
So happy to see the Philly food scene getting some love! Also Go Birds
Yeahhh game day sunday!!
What part of philly are you from?
Kensington, technically lol
Philly rivals NYC food scene. Maybe it should be kept a secret, cuz it's awesome !!!
Eagles look terrible, yikes. Hey at least you can have this sandwich.
I don’t like roast pork sandwich but I’m watching cuz I miss Herrine content soooo much! 😩👍🏼
His grandfather looks like Tony Soprano in the pic around the 2 min mark just before they show the James Beard award picture lmfao.
I'm sorry but when I ever hear "Verment" I'm like NOPE!🤣🤣
I’ve been to DiNics and it was amazing
Haven’t been to John’s but that bread did look great.
Its funny how sometimes you can tell if they legitimately like the food or not.
The one in South Philly under an overpass near an airport is the best one!

Roast pork and cheesesteak is all I need in life
No i am not near it 😓😭😭
😍😍😍😍😍😍👌👌👌👌❤❤❤
THANK YOU!
Spinach definitely has so much more flavour and irony taste that compliments meat really nicely.
Yum!! Oh the sandwiches are good too….
Awesome!!!! DiNic's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was born and raised in Philly so I grew up on hoagies and cheesesteaks. This roast pork sandwich is new to me so I think it is more of a South Philly thing. Nevertheless, I look forward to trying my first if I ever pass thru Philly again.
Do a "The Best California Burrito in San Diego | Best in Town". It is iconic in that area and several locals swear by certain locations
What's in that if you don't mind explaining!
If they did that properly, none of the places would be in 'San Diego' even though all the places they would list would be in little Italy. A proper list would include Easy Lake, Fallbrook, Vista, Oceanside, and El Camino.
@@jbusername217 Of California Burritos? I haven't seen any good ones outside the San Diego area. It even originated there
@@colbyprieto37 It's a Carne Asada (steak) burrito with french fries, guacamole, sour cream and cheese. Staple here in San Diego

Gusto ko yung DiNic's!
DiNic’s all the way! My favorite
Herrine and Erin have great chemistry...these are THE two...keep them together. Oh and it helps that Erin knows how to a goddam sammich...
I've been to DiNic's and John Roast Pork, and I have to agree, I prefere John's Roast Pork. I like broccoli rabe, but it can be overpower the pork. That's especially the case if they undercooked it, and when I was at DiNic's their rabe could cook an extra 2 minutes for my taste.
We went to Johns the day after watching this video, and it was flat out incredible
Would a person who never really liked spinach like it?
@@lootgoblin8705 I don't care for spinach either, but the flavor of the leaf is completely different than you would imagine when it's cooked with the pork like this
Roast pork sandwiches look amazingly delicious yummy😋👍
You ladies should try Chicago’s Italian beef sandwich.
I’m from Chicago but I live in Philly, and I think John’s makes the best. Always get a side of long hots at John’s.
Also worth trying is Nick’s Cafe in South Philly (roast beef), and George’s in the Italian market (tripe).
Nicks roast beef is good but it's too much of a hassle looking for parking 😩😆
Besides the Philly Cheesesteak, I better remember to try this sandwich if I go to Philadelphia.
After watching a few episodes with this duo …. It makes you wonder 💨 how 💨they got the job 💨
"Its a juicy girl" hahaha I love her
this was the only video that i've watched in entirety cuz i agree johns roast pork is the best pork sandwich in philly. used to drive 4 hours to get there, eat a sanwich and get another to go for the trip back. good job girls. better than that one where the chick went to jims south st.
Nice body hair for that chef 😍😍😂😂
Originally from the North and I miss REAL bread for sandwiches. Hard to find high quality bread down here. It's an important part of a quality sandwich. Awesome looking food there!!! Thanx. Now I'm drooling!!!! 👌
The reason why the north east has the best bread, bagels etc. is because of the water. We sit on the largest fresh water aquifer in the country.
I make roast pork sandwich at home with chicken veggies. Delicious every time
I live right down the street from Johns roast pork. Never heard of them before this video but tomorrow I’m going to try them because that sandwich looks amazing

George’s on South 9th has the best roast pork sandwiches!! The others aren’t even close.

My two favorite Insider hosts!
I miss this series
The woman in the misguided Nike jumper is like some walking SNL skit with all her amaaaaazings...
erin & herrine work so well together
Reading terminal market is iconic in philly 😍especially the donuts 🍩
Delicious
Tony Luke's is also outstanding!
You should come to St. Croix or Puerto Rico. There’s actually a place in Puerto Rico called the “Pork Highway” it’s an entire area that does only Roast Pork.
its like, like yeah like its omg like so gravy like
You gotta add some shaved sharp provolone
in that sandwich! Unbelievable 👍🏻
The secret to the gravy they leave a tray to collect juices
Not just that. They probably let the gravy cook everyday and never changing it out. Probably filter the bits out at the end of the day and boil it to leave it for next day. We call this the perpetual gravy and is a secret because it can disgust some customers. The bread bits they remove probably gets add back into the gravy as well after some processing and filtering.
I love these two working together
Omg they finally uploaded the best series
I NeEd WIFI it’s just a worse worth it
Tony Lukes is the best sandwich experience in all of Philly. The roast pork is perfection, the cheese steak is perfection , all of it is perfection.
Is this a serious comment?? 😂😂😂😂
5:36 and that's Reading Terminal Market's name being butchered.
Lmao only true natives know it’s pronounced like“red-ing”
My first glance at the thumbnail and I thought it was a banh mi 😂
Facts 💯
me too! it really looks like one.
How do you leave out Tony Luc's
Small detail: it is pronounced "Redding", not 'reading'. Named after the Reading Railroad, which had a line from Reading PA, bringing all sorts of Berks County goodies to that terminal in Philadelphia many years ago.
When you go to John's, there will be locals and out-of-towners in the cheesesteak line. The roast port line to the right usually has only locals.
You sampled the two best, John's and DiNics. You could have added Tony Lukes, not far from John's.
Otherwise, you got the best.
AWESOME
Thanks! :)
Tony Luke's for the win. No question.
When I was in Philadelphia back in June 2019 for Wizard World comic con, I had finished up with everything for the day so me and my parents went to the Reading Terminal Market. I knew that I had to go to Tommy Dinic’s for the Roast Pork Sandwich. I remembered the episode of Man vs. Food where I first heard about this back in high school. Hands down one of the best sandwiches I have eaten ever and said to them woman who served me, “No wonder some people say that this is better than the Cheesesteak.”
do y'all got a best italian beef in chicago episode?
Hot roast pork fav sandwich. But love johns.
Omg the mispronunciation of Reading Terminal Market almost made me turn this off - BUT! Thanks for the video! I never heard of that third place until this video.
I haven't tried John's or this fancy one before, so I can't compare, but I think Dinic's roast pork is definitely the best sandwich I've ever had in my life, and I think it's going to be almost impossible to dethrone that one for me (P.S. I get the most doctored version of Dinic's sandwich - the italian style pull pork, sharp provolone, rabe AND spinach, long hots, and banana peppers) so it is not a straight comparison to the simpler classic.
@5:37 - READing terminal market? LMAO
“Reading (pronounced 'red-ing' Terminal Market”
How many times are they gonna say "sopped up"
Is this worth it from buzfeed?
does anyone know if there are any sandwhich shops in philly that offer eating challenges, with like how many sandwhiches you can pig down?
Can you come to the Bronx and do the best... Kidding 😂 don't come to the Bronx. Rents high enough.
