YES !!! Yeah, i caught you picking up on Roy Orbison being there vocally, but not physically ("aww") when you saw his guitar in the rocking chair. Good eye. I love this song. I love the line: "the best you can do is forgive". Peace -
Roy Orbison's death came at such an inopportune time: Jeff Lynne had just co-produced Roy's comeback album "Mystery Girl" along with T Bone Burnett, Heartbreaker Mike Campbell and U2's Bono. A new generation was just being introduced to Roy when he suddenly died of a heart attack at age 52. That still breaks my heart!
Jim Keltner was the drummer and percussionist on both Traveling Wilburys albums and was given the nickname Buster Sidebury. Famous studio percussionist who was on many of George Harrison's albums, and also played at the live charity concert for Bangla Desh in 1971,along with Ringo Starr, at Ringo's request...
That session drummer, Jim Keltner was one of the busiest session drummers in the business. Bob Dylan biographer Howard Sounes described Jim as "the leading session drummer in America". He has played on many big name artists' records over the decades.
The story I read about Jim Keltner is they initiially wanted to credit him as one of the Traveling Wilburys but he was very humble and refused because he didn't feel he merited being included as a member of the band's name. (Jim considered himself first and foremost a session guy). So, instead they credited him as "Buster Sidebury"
I'm always surprised and a little disappointed that Jim Keltner doesn't get any mentions. He's one of the finest session drummers and all the other band members wanted him to join them when forming the band, which says a lot. God bless and RIP George, Roy & Tom.
Jeff Lynn of ELO, and Bob Dylan are the only living members left, I think. Roy was actually singing on the studio record, but passed away before the video was made. Loved this Band of stars from other Bands.
This album was mostly written and recorded at Dave Stewart's house. Dave was 1/2 of the musical group the Eurythmics. The five guys sat around in a circle with their acoustic guitars working on the songs. So there's exactly what you were talking about!
What legends on display here showcasing their talents!! Sad that Roy had died before this video was shot but thought it was cool that they had a guitar on a rocking chair and his picture in his place. Also sad that George and Tom are no longer with us either. George once said that John Lennon would have loved The Traveling Wilburys. Could you imagine if John was still alive when they formed and he decided to join??? It would have been the Super Group of Super Groups. What I wouldn't have given to be the fly on the wall when these gents got together.
When Jeff Lyne was inducted with E.L.O, in the Rock Hall, George’s son Dahni did the honors. Dahni proclaimed that “all the Wilbury’s are now in the Hall” and the crowd erupted. The drummer is Jim Keltner. He is also in the Rock Hall as a “musician/sideman”. Keltner played on a number of tracks as a session drummer. He played drums with Simon and Garfunkel, Lennon, Harrison, and with Petty on some solo work.
The whole album is upbeat. Every song puts a smile on your face. Maybe my favourite line on the album is from "Margarita" about a woman's goodbye note : "She wrote a long letter/ On a short piece of paper". Priceless.
🇨🇦 George ? The Beatles ? You should react to George's "While my guitar gently weeps" (with Eric Clapton) or "My sweet Lord" or "Got my mind set on you" or "Isn't it a Pity" !
Apparently Elvis said the only singer he found really intimidating / thought was his biggest competition was Roy Orbison because his voice was so special.
The poignant shot of the empty rocking chair with a guitar and photo of Roy Orbison (shortly after he had passed). Such an incredible group of musicians!
Jim Keltner did drumming for the Wilburys...very popular session drummer. They wanted to make him a Wilbury, but he didn't want to be...he said he'd be a "Sidebury".
The empty rocking chair represents the late great Roy Orbison, he passed just after the album was released, but before the video was made. Nice that the guys even got a Jimi Hendrix reference in there, Purple Haze, recognizing a super predecessor. THE greatest Super Group ever created, by a happy coincidence.
Excellent reaction. You picked up really quickly on the meaning of the guitar on the rocking chair and the photograph. Shows how much you've learned in a relatively short time. Great to see your enthusiasm for and appreciation of the music before your time!
Super group living up to its name. You know someone is great when Jeff Lynne is awestruck when speaking about the late Roy Orbison. Had posters ot Roy Orbison when he was growing up. Such a shame when he died at 52 just as the public were getting to know how truly great this artist was. Apparently the rest of the group would drop everything they were doing and listen to Roy when it was his turn to sing. Bob Dylan said that when he sang next to him it sent shivers down his spine. Elvis said he was the greatest singer in the world and was intimidated by his voice. John Lennon was a big big fan and Roy's music inspired the single "Please please Me" You are so right that once heard you never forget his voice. Great reaction. thanks
All legends in their lifetimes❤️🤘. It is to cool that you get to know the artists and their contributions they gave to the world of music that is infinite
Roy passed away in 1988, & this was their second & last album shortly after…its pretty much about what u said, but there’s a good bye to Roy in there as well
YES!!!!! I was sooo happy when I got this alert! I was looking forward to your getting around to them!!!!! Great reaction and appreciation! It was fun watching you notice the guitar in the rocking chair & the picture as Roy was singing! Some miss that, but you were very observant! Thank you soo much for doing this song! Looking forward to “Handle with care” official video as well! 😀😀😀😀
What a great thing to say at the end of the song, talking about how you appreciate the fact that you've got a lot more context now and you know who these people are to various degrees and it enriches your experience. I think that's fantastic, man.
The way I heard this was Jeff Lynne was producing George and had the idea for him and George. George said yes, but wanted each of them to pick 1 more guy each. George got Dylan and Lynne got Petty...then George and Jeff both wanted Roy.
What a lineup! Roy Orbison, Bob Dillon, George Harrison, Jeff Lynn and Tom Petty. I loved this band, I had their albums on cassette and played them until they were no longer playable. Excellent musicianship on this song and all of their songs. Sadly Roy passed away after this song was recorded but before the video was filmed. Nice nod to him with the rocking chair and Roy's guitar as well as the photo while he was singing. I always loved Roy Orbison, one of the most beautiful and classic voices of all time. He was hugely underrated I always felt, but musicians and those who really know, had nothing but praises for him. Even these guys said from the start that Roy was the greatest talent in the band and they were all thrilled to be able to play with him. Roy being so humble said they were just being nice and that he had no idea how he got so lucky to be able to make music with these icons. Thank you for your reaction. Next off to another of my favorite artists, Joni Mitchell with Case of You. Back to back bangers, you are hot today, Shawn.
OH WOWWWW, THAT WAS AQUICK DECISION, VERYYYY NICE SHAWN!!! 😊ESPECIALLYYYY SINCE YOU JUST DID A ROY SONG!👍😊 GREAT GREAT SONG WITH A GR88888 MESSAGE FOR SURE, NEVERRRR GETS OLD MY FRIEND!
That uniqueness in each one of these guys' voices, style and skills, is what makes their songs so memorable. Here I share the video that tells the story of how the group was formed completely by chance, and everything certainly happened face to face. ua-cam.com/video/SUQ_gj-biIc/v-deo.html
When this came out i was young and had just learned all about Roy Orbison. Previously he was just a name i knew from the past, but he had released some music which put him back in the mainstream, and then he was gone.
Song was recorded before Roy died, but in the video they honored Roy with his pic, rocking chair and his guitar. Jeff Lynne and Bob Dylan are the only surviving members
Dylan’s big one here is “Tweeter and the Monkey Man”. Definitely worth checking out. It’s one of his epic stories. The first single is “Handle with Care”. They said that when you make a mistake in the studio, they say “Don’t worry; we’ll bury it in the mix.” A Wilbury!
A great , feel good tune. Loved the entire album "Tweeter and the Monkeyman" is another good song. Roy had passed away while the album was being recorded
LOL! I only recognized Lynn because I knew Dylan. Lots of hair and tinted glasses. Always. If I saw him with no other clue I still wouldn't know him. The train car session is a throwback to A Hard Days Night the Fab Four's first movie.💋
I met Roy Orbison. He was playing golf with friends in my neighborhood in Jacksonville, Florida. Tom Petty came from northeast Florida too (Gainesville).
Give me Love, Poor little girl, All those years ago, Blow away, Cloud 9, Someplace Else, Shanghai Surprise, Love comes to everyone, This is love, Nowhere to go, You, Run so far ... ... just to name a few
The empty chair is due to Roy's death after he recorded the vocals but before the video was shot. So glad he was part of this group. What a 'send off'! "It's alright"
There's a really cool documentary on UA-cam about the Traveling Wilbury's and how they got together. Shows some of their songwriting process. Highly recommend you watch it.
I always get misty with Roy's verse as they show the rocking chair with his photo on it . Roy passed away between the time of their 1st video "Handle with Care " and this one .
I can't confirm, but I heard long ago that George Harrison called Bob Dylan to ask for a ride to meet up with the other members and Bob decided to stick around. Maybe you can find something about that.
Thanks, Shawn - hope you do more from one of the best "super-groups" evah! (also, credit to drummer Jim Keltner.. who was offered a credit, but declined.. ) appreciate your reactions... (p.s. Roy passed before they made the video.. so you may notice the picture, and the rocking chair....)
Great group! Fantastic individuals come together and make magic! It's sad, only Jeff Lynne and Bob Dylan are still alive. We are/were lucky to have them.....😢
You should watch the tribute concert to George Harrison. The remaining Wilbury's were there, along with George's son, and Prince. That performance of "As my guitar gently weeps" is amazing, and beautiful.
It was something like. Hey, I'm recording a song with x. Can I use your studio? Sure. Cool can i jump in Yep, hey can i invite someone too ? Sure. And lets invite x too. Then this is more than a single, lets make it a albulm. Woukd have to search who was first and who studio
Hey brother, sorry for not giving you a heads-up about RO. But I was confident that you would figure it out. Sadly, we lost him in 1988 to a heart attack. But he gave us some wonderful tunes to keep his memory alive. RIP: Roy Orbison💔🔥🎸U R Missed Here's a song by George Harrison, if interested "George Harrison - Got my Mind Set On You (Version I)" (VEVO) (by the channel: George Harrison) As always I enjoyed rocking with you. Thanks for sharing. peace out~
Please check out the Rock and roll hall of Fame clip honoring George Harrison "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" with Tom Petty, Jeff Lynn and Prince I think you would really like it
George Harrison created this band! He was a genius! RIP 🙏🙏🙏

The drummer is Jim Keltner, ' Buster Sidebury'.
You're a supergroup if Bob Dylan is singing backup vocals for you.
Love the TRAVELING WILBURYS' Good Lord, such talent in one group! Love your videos! You're right about Roy.✌️🙂
The best description I've read of the Traveling Wilburys is "all your favorite chefs getting together to grill hotdogs."
That session drummer, Jim Keltner was one of the busiest session drummers in the business. Bob Dylan biographer Howard Sounes described Jim as "the leading session drummer in America". He has played on many big name artists' records over the decades.

I was Wondering who the drummer was. Thanks
Great session Drummer Jim Keltner....read up about him.
Excellent choice. Nice catch on Roy’s guitar. A lot of reactors don’t pick up on that. Great reaction 🎄✌️
Jeff Lynn of ELO, and Bob Dylan are the only living members left, I think. Roy was actually singing on the studio record, but passed away before the video was made. Loved this Band of stars from other Bands.

George was my favorite Beatle. Wrote many songs. My Guitar Gently Weeps was my favorite of his songs. Solo.
Keltner had a big history with Harrison. He and Ringo were the drummers for George's 1972 benefit Concert for Bangladesh.
Roy Orbison "A Love So Beautiful". Co-written with Jeff Lynne. ❤
The great Jim Keltner on drums
What legends on display here showcasing their talents!! we all will get there..eventually..The End of the Line you are correct Roy passed b4 the album was complete
George Harrison's "Wah Wah" from his first solo album is his hardest rocker and a great kiss off to John and Paul.
What a line-up. I grew up with Orbison music...Then the Beatles...Then ELO...This may be the best song on this album.
Saw ALL these guys in concert with different bands!!! Love them all! I’m a lucky lady to have had this experience!🥰💖
I believe you may have an old soul. That's a compliment, btw. :)
Truly a band of rock royalty!!
Wow…what an anthem for the world now, and a young man like you Shawn that I believe will hold a torch to light the way for an uncertain future.
There's a 30 minute documentary on You Tube on how it all came about.
🇨🇦 George ? The Beatles ? You should react to George's "While my guitar gently weeps" (with Eric Clapton) or "My sweet Lord" or "Got my mind set on you" or "Isn't it a Pity" !

YOU KNOW YOUR FACIAL EXPRESSION COMPLETELYYY CHANGED WHEN YOU PICKED UP ON THE EMPTY ROCKING CHAIR SHAWN!😮PRICELESSSS MY FRIEND! 👍😊
RIP John
Apparently Elvis said the only singer he found really intimidating / thought was his biggest competition was Roy Orbison because his voice was so special.
A gathering of legendary music icons.
Wow 🤩 such great talents!! 💫💫💫Love this song!! Great reaction Shawn, thank you!! ♥️🎸🎼👏🏻
I think this is the one where they filmed Roy's empty chair. Dang............
Wonderful upbeat positive vibe......all the songs on the album are great!
Love when Legends come together to calibrate. You should do the Highwaymen.
The poignant shot of the empty rocking chair with a guitar and photo of Roy Orbison (shortly after he had passed). Such an incredible group of musicians!
A good song with Bob on vocals is Tweeter and the monkey man, the lyrics of that song could easily be turned into a movie

Wikipedia (v.) Jim Keltner and be absolutely blown away at the projects and bands he has played with.
I loved both of their albums and played them constantly when they came out. Stunning amount of talent in that group. Great reaction!
I appreciate that you obviously read our comments AND you often use the suggestions! U r awesome!
Loved this reaction💖 As someone else said, good eye. Such a great song.

All rock Gods, and legends. Petty so Iconic and George Harrison power voice.
There are several short Docs and interviews about The Wilbury's on UA-cam. The process was pretty much how you envisioned it.
When this came out i was young and had just learned all about Roy Orbison. Previously he was just a name i knew from the past, but he had released some music which put him back in the mainstream, and then he was gone.
the wilburys first record is a brilliant album...every song is great
Love the Wilbury years. Tweeter and The Monkeyman is a fun one from them. ❤
Amazing song. Thanks bro
Song was recorded before Roy died, but in the video they honored Roy with his pic, rocking chair and his guitar. Jeff Lynne and Bob Dylan are the only surviving members
They were talking of maybe touring a bit as the Wilbury’s, then Orbinson died and the joy just went out of the idea.
Great reaction! Love your comments at the end especially! Hello from Texas 🤠
You are in for a sweet treat my friend. ❤
Try Paul Kelly, how to make Gravy, from little things, Dumb things, To her door. From Australia.
A great , feel good tune.
Loved the entire album
"Tweeter and the Monkeyman" is another good song.
Roy had passed away while the album was being recorded
Thanks Shawn! Love this! 🎶🤩
Your reactions are always top tier

Oh you have to react to George Harrison!! Songs to listen to are… My Sweet Lord and This is the Life.. PHENOMENAL records!!!😘

They did record these songs together. They were all in Nashville at the same time.
Great group! Fantastic individuals come together and make magic! It's sad, only Jeff Lynne and Bob Dylan are still alive. We are/were lucky to have them.....😢
Shawn-you uploaded unusual traveling. have a good one. ))
Nice job. Excellent reaction.
You should watch the tribute concert to George Harrison. The remaining Wilbury's were there, along with George's son, and Prince. That performance of "As my guitar gently weeps" is amazing, and beautiful.
The one with Prince was George's induction into the rock and roll hall of Fame. Not the concert for George.

'Handle With Care' next.
Since you're that into lyrics and Dylan, then listen to Tweeter and the Monkey Man, also by the Traveling Wilburys. It's classic Dylan.
I think I remember hearing that a lot of their songs were written in George Harrison kitchen.
