Roy was able to sing on this most excellent tune but passed away before the video was filmed. The rocking chair with Roy's guitar makes me cry every time I see it. 💔
One of the true SUPERGROUP's to ever play music. Bob, Roy, Jeff, Tom and George all were amazing on their own, but together they were truly special and exceptional. RIP to Roy, Tom and George. So much talent, so little time together.
Orbison recorded this but passed before the video. This song is our friends The Traveling Wilburys giving us feel good wisdom. When Petty song that he’s happy to be alive ,it chokes me up and of course Orbinson’s empty chair.
This Group formed by accident... George Harrison was doing an album and needed a song for the B side of the first single release. These guys were all friends and sorta got together to help him out...... they wrote "Handle with Care" together. When they played it for the record company, they were told this was too good for that, it needed to be released on its own. They came up the the group name so no one would know who it was, just appreciate it for what it is.... GREAT MUSIC. And it worked.
What’s freaking me out right now is watching this and remembering Roy had passed away before filming the video . He was 52 when he passed . I thought he was old as dirt back when this came out. I turn 53 this week . Fuck…..
This is one of my top favorite songs ever, in terms of its ability to lift me up. So much truth, from so much talent. Def a supergroup. It IS alright. I have been through a LOT- we all have- worse days may come- but we're HERE, NOW, so let's live and enjoy it. Another of my top favorites is Tom Petty "I Won't Back Down". Also uplifting and empowering.
In case you didn't know, the reason why Roy Orbison would always wear sunglasses came about when he couldn't find his regular glasses and he only had his prescription sunglasses so he put those on and it became his signature style.
I was passing through a few days ago and they played a little snippet of this song on whatever my mom was watching so I stopped and said hey, that's The Traveling Wilburys! Now here I am today watching your reaction video for it😉
Great reaction guys!! Hard to deny that this is THE supergroup of supergroups! You have the Big-O (Roy), Free Wheelin' Bob (Dylan), an ex-Beatle (Harrison), Mr. ELO (Lynne) and a Heartbreaker (Petty) - all legendary artists! What they created in that first album was magic. No egos, just friends and contemporaries that had enormous respect for each other, making good ole rock and roll music! The term "Wilbury" originated during the Cloud Nine sessions (solo album for Harrison). Referring to recording errors created by faulty equipment, Harrison jokingly remarked to Lynne, "We'll bury 'em in the mix. So after, they used the term for any small error in performance. It was Lynne's idea to call the group 'Traveling Wilburys'. Each member took up a 'fake' persona: Nelson Wilbury (Harrison), Otis Wilbury (Lynne), Lefty Wilbury (Orbison), Charlie T. Wilbury Jr. (Petty) & Lucky Wilbury (Dylan) Other tracks to check: Tweeter & The Monkey Man, Last Night, Not Alone Any More. Great album!! Cheers.
That was great, guys, really enjoyed it. Love The Traveling Wilburys, had both their CDs with some really great songs. It was sad when Roy Orbison passed away, he had such a wonderful, distinctive voice. May I make a suggestion for a reaction for Led Zeppelin? I think you've done quite a few but I would like to recommend a video called Led Zeppelin -' How Many More Times' (Danemarks Radio) 1969. This is an absolutely electrifying live performance, one of their first ones, filmed in black and white which I think makes it more interesting. I don't think the Danish audience knew what to make of it, they didn't realise they were witnessing the birth of one of the greatest rock bands of all time!! Thanks so much guys. 😊😊
Oh man…I slept right thru my alarm and missed out on the live🙄 my loss, hope y’all had a good time, hope y’all have a great week. See yall next time!✌💜✨
Orbison only recorded one song on his own for them, Not Alone Anymore. A perfect song, in it he really displayed his operatic, paranormal-sounding vocals.
There was a Wilbury backstory. These Wilbury boys were half-brothers, the sons of Charlie T. Wilbury and five different mothers. The old man was the original Traveling Wilbury. 😊
The song was not about Roy Orbison. He was alive when they recorded this song. He died before the video was made. That's why he photo is shown during his singing part and his guitar in the rocking chair. They disbanded when Roy died. They only made one album and did not put their names on it nor any photos of themselves or any credits for writing the songs.
Morning guys! Grrr I missed live with the tribe! Hey smokey, loved how you pulled Bruce Springsteen out of your hat for that answer!! Lmao! R.i.p to those that are passed in this collective band! 🤓
I was in my mid-teens when this came out. It's crazy to think that I used to think these guys looked so old in this video. They were in their late 30s to early 50s. Now I'm older than pretty much all of them, except Orbison. Now I think they look so young.lol
Undertaker you used his WCW name. His real name is Calaway lol. This video was made shortly after Roy passed. Which was only a month or 2 after the album dropped. They did the Handle With Care video before he passed. That was a wonderful album with a whole group told 5 great artists who throughout their careers were storytellers doing the same in a setting that stars aligned due to the picking up of a borrowed guitar.
The song is also meant to sound like a train on the tracks with its rhythmic, repetitive riffs, the opening and closing guitars like the bell ringing as it leaves and enters the terminals, the tambourine the steam as the engine heats and cools. Also, they called their sound "skiffle."
When Tom Petty called George Harrison about Roy Orbison's passing George said aren't you glad it's not you? But he went on to say it's okay, it's okay, he's still here we'll carry on. If you want to hear a story song from this album try Tweeter and the monkey man written and sang lead by Bob Dylan. And I looked up George's reaction to make sure I was right.
That's JIM KELTNER on drums who played with a LOT of famous rockers including on George Harrison's and John Lennon's solo works. Yes, Roy passed away before the video was made. That is why when Roy's vocal comes on, they show his guitar in the rocking chair and a black and white framed photo on the box. SAD that now THREE of the Wilbury's have passed, Roy Orbison, George Harrison and Tom Petty, in that order. Only Jeff Lynne and Bob Dylan are left. So is Jim Keltner the drummer.
A Wilburry is a term that was coined by George and Jeff when they were recording, Jeff would say we'll bury it in the mix, so all the mistakes were called we'llburry's and when they needed a name for the group, well George suggested.....
There were two supergroups, The Traveling Wiburys and Damn Yankees. Rumor is the studios threw a ton of money to make them quit as the other "Main" bands of the time were not selling records or making much from touring.
Any band that is made up of members of other successful bands is a supergroup. Cream was the first. Roy seemed very old when he died. He was only 52 and I'm now nearly 55. Prince wasn't in We Are the World. I got to meet drummer Jim Keltner when I delivered him a gift basket for Christmas. Got to talk to his wife of 60 years. If you have thus much talent in the room, you know the other musicians better be top notch. Tom Petty plays bass here⅞.Befire Tom got together with The Heartbreakers he was the bassist for a band called Mudcrutch that he reformed in 2007 until his death..Friday 3/22/24 will be the one year anniversary of Mudcrutch guitarist Tom Leadon's death. His brother Bernie eas a founder of the Eagles.
Sure this is a supergroup. What makes a supergroup is that the members are established stars. Like Van Halen. Van Halen originally with Roth as lead vocalist is just a rock group, but when Van Halen hired Hagar they became a supergroup. Supergroups are usually formed by it’s members being established stars. The Firm is another example of a supergroup featuring Paul Rodgers,Jimmy Page, Chris Slade, and Tony Franklin. Or Power Station where some of the members of Duran Duran got together with Robert Palmer they were considered a supergroup but when Palmer left the group they were just considered a rock band. It’s usually two or more members that form a group that are established stars. This doesn’t count one time duets or side projects or solo projects they have to be an actual group.
Hey there 🤗 listen to the artists, The Midnight, Kalax, Gunship, FM-84, Ollie Wride, Timecop 1983, Miami Nights 1984, Cadenti, Flairover and NewRetroWave! 80's feel good Synthwave music! 🎶🎵❤
thanks, guys.. TW are the most "super" of any super-group I've heard.. c'mon, boys... George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, and the legendary Roy Orbison... hope you listen to some more... (yes, Roy didn't make the video... and we have lost George & Tom since this... but damn.. also: props to drummer Jim Keltner!)
So Snozzberries... if you follow the history of his literature, there is a passage in a short story where the actual meaning of snozzberry comes up. Its not a berry, lets just say that
I was new too band ...n new double diget age. ....i luv n 😂 i was young enough too t Refer. 2 them as yano the wondering razberrys. N I thought I was correct
Love how they put Roy's guitar in the rocking chair after he passed away ❤
Roy was able to sing on this most excellent tune but passed away before the video was filmed. The rocking chair with Roy's guitar makes me cry every time I see it. 💔
R.I.P ROY ORBISON, GEORGE HARRISON AND TOM PETTY!!!
One of the true SUPERGROUP's to ever play music. Bob, Roy, Jeff, Tom and George all were amazing on their own, but together they were truly special and exceptional. RIP to Roy, Tom and George. So much talent, so little time together.
My sweet old 84-year-old mama loves this song, and the Traveling Wilburys. This song ALWAYS makes me smile.
Orbison recorded this but passed before the video. This song is our friends The Traveling Wilburys giving us feel good wisdom. When Petty song that he’s happy to be alive ,it chokes me up and of course Orbinson’s empty chair.

💔 I just shake my head in sadness thinking that Tom, George, and Roy reached their End of the Line, too early. 😢
When they played this when they were inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, George Harrison's son played/sang his part.
The Highway men were pretty big super group Johnny Cash. Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Kris kristoferson they have some great music too
I usually skip intro sections, but there's something compelling about watching Smokey nail trivia questions like a guru.
What’s freaking me out right now is watching this and remembering Roy had passed away before filming the video . He was 52 when he passed . I thought he was old as dirt back when this came out. I turn 53 this week . Fuck…..
An early happy birthday to you
Dang - same. I thought he was like 75….WOW!!!! Happy Bday, from one Aries to another- mine is next week. 🤸🏻♂️
What did he die of?
@@michaelasay8587Roy died from a heart attack
The drummer’s name is Jim Keltner.
He’s been around for years and has played with just about everyone.
Also known as Sidebury
Sidebury, Buster Sidebury
This is one of my top favorite songs ever, in terms of its ability to lift me up. So much truth, from so much talent. Def a supergroup.

Great feelgood song these guys are about to hear .....I love this tune✌️
Not only was this a supergroup, but every member is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Not many groups can make that claim other than the Beatles .
When teacher puts all the smart kids in one group.
In case you didn't know, the reason why Roy Orbison would always wear sunglasses came about when he couldn't find his regular glasses and he only had his prescription sunglasses so he put those on and it became his signature style.

There is a documentary that talks about how many came up with the final line at the end of the song they added traveling wilburys we love you
They’re beyond a super group. Ultra Stellar Group. RIP Roy, Tom and George
Yes Orbison had passed before they filmed this one, his guitar in the rocking chair and his photo are there as a memorial
This came out when I was a teenager, my dad had this record, and it was amazing. I really liked Tweeter and the Monkey Man too.
OMG! The Boxcar Children! Talk about memories!

The clapping made it all alright
Traveling Wilburys is THE supergroup.
Love the way you guys enjoy the music and move with it. Shows that you are really enjoying what you do and makes it more fun to watch.

Boxcar boys DAMN nostalgia
Oh man…I slept right thru my alarm and missed out on the live🙄 my loss, hope y’all had a good time, hope y’all have a great week. See yall next time!✌💜✨
Roy Orbison passed away in December 1988 after a heart attack at age 52 before the film-clip was made for this song. He was singing in the song.
Oh, The Boxcar Children I read sixty years ago! Good stuff!
Good fun here, thank you!!
It's insane to think of how many hit's are represented by those musicians, how much stellar music they put out in their lifetimes ...
We are blessed as a species for this creation these gentlemen bestowed upon us.
Pure happiness.
Orbison only recorded one song on his own for them, Not Alone Anymore. A perfect song, in it he really displayed his operatic, paranormal-sounding vocals.
they all ended up in a common friends house decided to do an album - looking at schedules they had 10 days wrote and recorded the album
"Is this a super group?" No! They are THEE super group!!!
For a super collaboration, check out "We're Stars" featuring Dio and everybody else
There was a Wilbury backstory. These Wilbury boys were half-brothers, the sons of Charlie T. Wilbury and five different mothers. The old man was the original Traveling Wilbury. 😊

Greatest Supergroup ever! RIP Roy ❤
👏 👏 😚👏👏 “it’s alright” 😊
Do handle with care , carry out song at my partners funeral last year
Listen to Billy Squire "Lonely is the Night"
Great song..Dylan and Lynne are the only 2 left
I loved the Wild Thornberrys!!
I’m a fan of everyone in this group but Tom Petty is my favorite 😊❤
You've got to check out "Tweeter and the Monkeyman" by them. Or "Congratulations." Both Dylan gold and a completely different direction.
Rush - Circumstances

This was the guys tribute to Roy who had passed away before the video was made.
Roy was there for the recordings and some of the videos but we lost him before this video was filmed.
Tweeter and the Monkey Man, you have to do that one.
Roy was in the empty rocking chair - he passed before the album was done
Roy passed away before the video came out. RIP Roy. Such talent in one group! Lovely!

" Cream" was one of the first super groups with Eric Claton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Backer. Unlike this group Cream had to much ego from each of them.
Perfect musicians 💕🎆
Wilbury is a short for the expression: We "Will Burry" it in the mix when Jeff and Harrison was recording his album

love this song even though it makes me tear up every damn time.
Amazing super group with awesome songs but also sad knowing that several of these have passed on
only 2 of all these guys are still alive, Jeff Lynne and Bob Dylan...
empty rocking chair for Roy who died after the song was created but before the video was made..

Its just life. Its alright🤘❤️
This was the last song Roy Orbinson recorded before he passed.
My favorite song by them is cool dry place

Isn't Undertakers real name Mark Callaway? 😂great reaction! 👍
So sad that only two remain.😢.always remember in this super group.they don't make them like this anymore
Three remain! You can't leave out Buster Sidebury!

Thanks guys, you rock. ❤😊
Try "Tweeter & The Monkeyman" for your next dose of Wilburys. You guy's will love it...
I always felt this song and video were part tribute to Roy.
Prince wasnt in We Are The World.
you should check out Stars it's the Equivalent to We are the world but Heavy Metal and Rock,,,Dio leading the Group
Roy recorded the song with the others. but died before the video was made
Unfortunately they were only around long enough for a couple albums.
I was new too band ...n new double diget age. ....i luv n 😂 i was young enough too t
Refer. 2 them as yano the wondering razberrys. N I thought I was correct
I think ELO is going on tour
Only ones left are Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynn.
