*You can support the channel with UA-cam Channel Memberships or through Buy Me a Coffee. Never expected, but always appreciated.❤Links in Description!* I absolutely LOVE this song! What should I listen to next from them?!
You should check out "Would I Lie to You" and "There Must Be an Angel." Both songs and the accompanying videos are AMAZING. Dave and Annie are at their peak in those songs.
Annie is a shape-shifter in both appearance and vocally. Would I Lie to You and Missionary Man showcase a more rock sound. My personal favorite, Must Be an Angel Playing with my Heart, yet another Annie.
And a flautist which is what she studied at music college. I know a trumpet player originally from Aberdeen (now lives down in Selsey) who played in the same concert band there as her as a teenager.
Annie is an Amazing talent.....................she is brilliant in her solo career. He duet with Bowie (Under Pressure)at the Freddie tribute concert is a CLASSIC ! a must see.
Annie's vocals are in my top 3 female artists.. Please check out her duet with David Bowie, Under Pressure at the Memorial Concert for Freddie Mercury..She is the only one who could come that close to Freddie's vocals on that song. Also her cover of I Put A Spell On You, is well worth listening to...Why is another good one, Missionary Man also.
Yes, Dave Stewart was the musical mastermind behind all Eurythmics' compositions while Annie provided the lyrical (and sometimes musical) content. Stewart was sorely overlooked/ underrated as a guitar and keyboard wizard. Between the two of them, they not only created great music, they were committed to performance (visual) art at the onset of the video medium in the early 80s. Highly recommend any of their live performances from the Peace Tour ❤
Annie Lennox has a very powerful voice. The Eurythmics had a lot of great hits in the 80's-90's such as "Who's That Girl?", "Right By Your Side", "Would I Lie To You?", "It's Alright (Baby's Coming Back)", "Love Is A Stranger", "Missionary Man" etc. Annie has had a great solo career too with many hits.
The video where this was filmed is in Annies native Scotland. Around the Orkney Isles off the far north coast of Scotland the stack of rock featured in the aerial shot is called the Old Man of Hoy. Dave Stewart of the band directed it . They both felt the video needed to represent the dramatic feel of the song. They were right
One of those bands where the artists really didn't get along outside of the studio. The creativity kept them interested but they all had one step out of the door.
This song is a show stopper, it is just... When I was a kid and it was on VH-1 a lot, I just sank into the landscape. And just how great can a song be, when the video is a woman walking around with a lantern or covered in a blanket? While Dave is with that camera that looks awfully old, but it was quite a luxury for a long time... The video is totally genius, this song is in my all-time TOP 10, suppose it forever will be. It is like she is waiting for his ship or boat to come. Now that you say Dave seems creepy - it never seemed like it. Two lost people, two searching people... Isolated, cold. Artistic. And this vivid song, the vocals... like Annie is waiting for the echoes to reflect her voice, but they somehow don't. I can write all night about how great this song is, how grateful I am to have known it all my life. I don't know, if you read about it, but "Sweet dreams" got its sound from a distortion on the synthesizer or some other electronic thing they were using... a drum machine? And it was about their disillusion with the music industry. BUT THIS, and "Love is a stranger"... just amazing. Forever.
I don’t understand how you could possibly underestimate Dave Stewart. I mean it just….I don’t even have words. The man’s body of work is incredible. revolutionary? Got a deep dive, this one man
Eurythmics are awesome. They are an incredible due, and even apart they make incredible music. Dave did most of the arrangements, but Annie did participate in that as well. They both wrote their songs. Dave is an incredible producer and Annie is an amazing talent. Her voice is one of the greats in music! She can sing nice and easy and soft or she can belt it out with the best of them. They are an incredible duo!
Yep, her singing voice is what got me hooked in the beginning. But she's not bad to look at either. (80's videos are weird and some dont mean a whole lot....) "Would I Lie To You" is a banger also...
This straight took me BACK to the days of no cable sitting up to watch Friday Night Videos. Love this time and genre. Straight up thanks for this one. 🔥
Michael Kamen did most of the orchestral arrangements for Eurythmics. He passed away several years ago. You should listen to Sexcrime 1984 by Eurythmics too. Then move onto songs from their BE YOURSELF TONIGHT 1985 album. Dave Stewart produced most of Eurythmics records or collaborated on production duties towards the end of their 80s run.
Would I Lie to You, Sisters Are Doing It for themselves, Who's That Girl, Missionary Man, I Need A Man, Why, Walking on Broken Glass, No More I Love Yous... just a few more 😂😂😂😂
Annie Lennox also sings the song “Into the West” which was the closing song for the credits in “The Return of the King”, the final film in the Lord of the Rings movies. It won an Oscar and Golden Globe for best original song, and a Grammy as well.
Loved the 80s with the introduction of videos and MTV music suddenly had a visual characteristic. Back in the day we watched videos like regular TV. Eurythmics and Annie Lennox were amazing. Love this tune great reaction.
Eurythmics is one of my favorite bands ever and Annie Lennox is one of my favorite singers. I absolutely love this song. Eurythmics and Annie Lennox are one of those groups whose music will always be in my top 5 favorites. Annie Lennox has a beautiful and powerful voice. She also has a very soulful voice which is what gives her a sultry and emotional sound. Eurythmics and Annie Lennox as a solo singer have a deep and amazing catalog to explore.
I'd just spent 6 months in Mexico and crossed back into San Diego. New visa for 6 more months, I bought a truck and 3 new cassettes. Eurythmics, Prince Purple Rain and Tina Turner Private Dancer. All 3 still stand up 40 years later.
such a brilliant piece this is, and yip you're starting now to see just what Annie's voice can do :D keep going lol there's so much more to hear. Amazing voice.
Please do thorn in my side and there must be an angel playing with my heart. Love this song. The video for David Bowie's ashes to ashes has the same effect on the water as this video.
Awesome reaction 👏🏼👍🏼 🔥 EURYTHMICS 🔥. don't know a lot about them always liked her singing ANNIE LENNOX is her name the singer , DAVE STEWART is a musician producer about all I know , other than they put out some awesome music that I always liked listening to, and I'm sure there was other musicians , but Annie and Dave always got the recognition but anyway Keep up the good work 💪🏼👍🏼👏🏼 ✌🏽 OUT 🇺🇸🫡💯🎯🔥😎
I highly recommend Would I Lie to You and Sisters are Doing it For Themselves which was a duet with the legend Aretha Franklin. Loved all their albums but this one especially.
🇬🇧 Hey SteVen👋 Annie did a duet with Aretha Franklin "Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves", & it is a BANGER. Would love to see you react to that one, unless youve heard it before of course. 😊🎼🎶🫂
Annie has one of the biggest vocal ranges out there, she can do marathon runs when called for, but they are only where they need to be, not thrown in gratuitously to show off. Both amazing tracks you've done, but I find them very similar, you'll hear even more diversity if you do more. All the suggestions have already been made, so I'll just say thank you.✌❤
Nice reaction, always loved her voice! Would love to see you do a reaction to Bloodywood. They are an Indian folk metal band. They have so many unique sounds in their music, I think you would really appreciate it. Aaj would be a great starter song and all their songs have an amazing message. Thanks!
I know you usually just take requests from members, but I ran across a band called Composer Head doing Ace of Spades, “this one’s for you Lemmy” if you like crazy you would love this and if you do it decide don’t do any research .
There's no way you can stop here if Sweet Dreams is truly the only previous Eurythmics song you've ever heard! - Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves - Love Is A Stranger - Who's That Girl - Right By Your Side - There Must Be An Angel and - Thorn In My Side were ALL Top 10 hits in the UK! And there's a couple dozen more that made at least the Top 40!
I can say that I personally do like this song better, and prefer it to “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of These)”. I know that tune was a bigger hit as a single, and I’m sure it charted higher and remains more popular. But I don’t know, to me that track is even more of a dance song, compared to this one that has some brooding and a slightly dark edge. Because I’m just more interested in substance than the dance floor.
Dear mrsetonhill go take a look at some of the wonderful footage of the carpenters in concert live in Budokan! There is SOOooo much film of Karen playing drums.
I know that this request has nothing to do with this particular video. However, I couldn't find on your channel if you have reacted to Pentatonix? I saw that you reacted to Home Free. I would love your reaction to Pentatonix. ❤
They have so many & Xmas is a huge part of what they are amazing at. You never know what Kevin's gonna do, beatbox, sing, etc & what they do with songs is insane. Of course, that's coming from someone who can't sing a lick. Lol
Their #1 song is Hallelujah so most people recommend starting there. I would personally recommend Mary Did You Know, Carol of The Bells or maybe even Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairy...only because there's a bit more percussion. After that...go to town because it's really hard not to get sucked in the vortex that is PTX. Hope to see some soon & I love your reactions & positivity.
Annie Lennox was the voice but Dave Stewart was the musical mastermind and probably didn't get the credit that they both deserved. Dave has worked with a whos who in music since the 80s. You should check out Annies solo songs like Why, Walking on Broken Glass and Little Bird. I always considered Annie the female David Bowie and David Bowie the male Annie Lennox, especially during the early 80s.
Goosebumps time. Her voice has a natural vibrato with range and power. I love hearing the reaction from a producers viewpoint. Do you pick any ideas for production?

I absolutely LOVE this song! What should I listen to next from them?!
You should check out Would I Lie To You. It's a rocker with a blues flavor that I know you would enjoy!
Her duet with Aretha Franklin is pretty good too.
@robertpearson8798 I totally forgot about that!
" Would I Lie to You " will floor you.
Annie was on all tracks. The back up ladies in the video were lipping it. It floored me.
You should check out "Would I Lie to You" and "There Must Be an Angel." Both songs and the accompanying videos are AMAZING. Dave and Annie are at their peak in those songs.
The man that You kept tripping on in the video is responsible for most of the instrumental genius of Eurythmics! That's Dave Stewart...❤
Annie Lennox solo song "Walking on Broken Glass" is a killer track
Dave Stewart (the dude with the camera) is the Mastermind. - Sought after and still works with a lot of other artists!
Love it. Annie and Dave are such great musicians. Suggestion: Would I Lie to You? and Missionary Man. Also any live performance by Eurythmics 🧡
How about the landscape/seascape in that video? Wow!!
Annie is a shape-shifter in both appearance and vocally. Would I Lie to You and Missionary Man showcase a more rock sound. My personal favorite, Must Be an Angel Playing with my Heart, yet another Annie.
Annie Lennox is just amazing! One of best female voices around, if not the best. 🙂
Watch her doing her song Why live its just her and her piano its at an award show Pure talent at the highest level
Annie has an amazing vical range
Try Voices Carry, by, Till Tuesday. Great song.
I think next you have to hit love is a stranger.
Completely different and totally awesome
Annie is a native of Scotland where I think most of this was filmed she is also a violinist amongst everything else.
And a flautist which is what she studied at music college. I know a trumpet player originally from Aberdeen (now lives down in Selsey) who played in the same concert band there as her as a teenager.

Annie also co-wrote the song both brilliant songwriters

Who's that girl was Madonna
@@michaeltaylor8835 Madonna did a completely different song with the same title. It is from a movie she was in with the same title.
The most awarded and successful female singer in UK history. Her solo stuff is amazing too.

Annie Lennox' voice is ethereal
‘Who’s That Girl’ now that’s a banger!!😂
Would I Lie To You and Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves (duet with Aretha Franklin) really showcase Annie's vocals
I don’t understand how you could possibly underestimate Dave Stewart.
I mean it just….I don’t even have words. The man’s body of work is incredible. revolutionary?
Got a deep dive, this one man
You need to add Annie Lennox reactions to this channel man... lots of them! 🔥🎹🎵🎸
I saw Eurythmics live back in the day. I could never listen to them on CD again as her voice was SO spectacular live. Unbelievable.
Thanks, Seton! Annie Lenoxx was amazing... hope you listen to more Eurythmics... (for a rocker - do "would I lie to you" - !!) appreciate it!

Miracle of Love live in Oz ,you won’t regret it
One of my all time favourite songs. What a voice she has! So raw, so sensual. Reminds me of a former love, back in the day...

Annie Lennox Waiting in Vain cover of the Bob Marley classic❤ I love this rendition
You have to check Love is a stranger , Who’s that girl, and many more. You ain’t see nothing yet
This is one of my favorite eurhythmics songs. I really think the production on this is spectacular the arrangement everything about it.
Absolutely! 💯
Your reactions are the BEST! I love this song but I live in Seattle 😂
So glad you are enjoying them! 😁
such a brilliant piece this is, and yip you're starting now to see just what Annie's voice can do :D keep going lol there's so much more to hear. Amazing voice.
The word you were thinking of is "pizzicato." Fun fact: the "pluck" part of thumping and plucking on bass is a pizzicato technique!
Please do thorn in my side and there must be an angel playing with my heart.
Love this song.
The video for David Bowie's ashes to ashes has the same effect on the water as this video.
Even better is the live 1987 version in my opinion, with a great final guitar solo (even if those instruments rarely play solo but what can I say?)
Awesome reaction 👏🏼👍🏼

That higher pitch plucking your hearing they most likely achieved by plucking the strings on a violin they make a higher sound when finger plucked

The out of tune (painfully sharp) cello at 5:10 is a killer!

💯 So much to learn from gems like this!
