As soon as Carlos starts playing those licks, you know who is holding that guitar. Unique sound and a legend. Thanks for the hard work and great music.
Rob Thomas's wife, Madison Maldonado, has Lyme Disease and has become an advocate for helping people that are also suffering from tic borne illnesses. She was at one time a very big model but because of the Lyme Disease, there are days when can't even get out of bed.
One of my favourite songs! It never fails to make me want to dance. I believe it was 1999, Santana brought an album called Supernatural with collaborations with various artists including Eric Clapton, Dave Matthew’s and it also included this song. Fantastic album, if you haven’t heard it I recommend you stick the whole thing on a playlist 😊
🔥🔥Saw Santana in concert in 1982. He was Awesome then and he's still Awesome in 2024!! Rob Thomas is a Musical Genius!! Amazing Vocalist, Songwriter, Musician. Rob's other band is MATCHBOX TWENTY and they're Incredible!!! Tons of Fantastic songs to react to from them like "OVERJOYED", "IF YOU'RE GONE", "REST STOP", "KODY", "BRIGHT LIGHTS", "UNWELL". Rob's wife, MARISOL, is in this video. She was the one in the car at the beginning of the video, dancing in the window and dancing in front of Rob on the street. 🔥🔥
This song came at a time when Santana's career hit a lull. Someone came up with the idea of pairing up Carlos with modern vocalists. This included "Maria, Maria". It worked so well, they tried it again with "The Game of Love" (Michelle Branch).
Santana may be getting old but that means nothing for his guitar skills. He came out of the womb playing like that and will still be doing it when he's 100 years old. I've played the guitar since I was in the 7th grade and still at it at 81. He will always be my favorite guitar player.
Rob Thomas is the lead singer for "Matchbox 20". This is a song that Carlos chose to have on his album that he put together that has all different singers
Good morning. I’m writing this before I see your reaction, but I cannot believe you have not heard this tune 1000 times. It was number one for like three months and played every hour for about a year on most pop radio stations. It’s a great catchy tune the vocals And the guitar playing are top shelf. Love watching your reactions, keep it up and have a great holiday.
I love Rob Thomas. Matchbox Twenty is his band. Rob has such a unique voice and style. There's nobody like him and it goes perfectly with the great Santana. Such a great song.
Rob Thomas wrote this song for his wife. She is featured in this video as the one in the car in the beginning and in the room upstairs with the fan on her listening to the music from downstairs.
Rob Thomas wrote this. Santana did a series. He did another with Alex Band from “The Calling” called “Why don’t you and I” that Alex Band wrote. There were a couple songs that were done. These two are my favorites though.
Before I fell through a deck and tore up my shoulders, hips, and back my husband and I loved dancing. This was a favorite. I'm now disabled and walk with a came most days. We were recently at a wedding and he asked it I wanted to try and move a little when this played. Muscle memory is an amazing thing. I was stiff, but we cleared the floor as he led me through a very watered down cha-cha. I was barely about to walk back to our table and couldn't move at all for the next 2 days, but man was it worth.
@setonhillstudios Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers are always welcome. I have great doctors and my wonderful family is very supportive. My husband is an OTR truck driver. Our youngest son moved into the in-law suite and works from home so he can be here while his daddy is on the road. He's given up so much to help me but he never complains. 😇
Fabulous song in every way and the video elevates it. Carlos deserves every superlative. Sorry you have never seen it! Classic to many of us 🔥 Some Matchbox Twenty songs would be fun to do too-but this is peak Rob
You can NEVER go wrong with Rob Thomas, but add in Santana, and you have an instant smash! “Matchbox 20” (Robs band), and Counting Crows are my absolute favorite 90’s bands! Update: Check out Matchbox 20 “Bright Lights”, and Santana “Winning”
This song was from Santana's 1999 album "Supernatural". It was sort of a "comeback" album for Santana. He had switched to a new record label and decided to focus on more pop style music. He collaborated with several younger artists on several of the album's songs - besides Rob Thomas there were collaborations with Lauryn Hill, Dave Matthews, CeeLo Green and others. The album was a huge hit worldwide and won nine Grammy Awards.
When the convertible caddy is going by Rob at the beginning they are playing another Santana song called “samba pa ti” you should give it a listen its an instrumental.
I once saw an interview that Carlos Santana gave regarding this song, and he made the comment that when Rob Thomas and he met to pair Rob's lyrics to Carlos' music, Carlos was wondering just how it was that Rob knew so much about Hispanic culture - in particular, how he knew what a muñequita was and how the lyrics "...change my life, to better suit her mood..." fit that concept perfectly. ...and then Rob introduced Carlos to his wife. As Carlos put it, "Then, it all made sense."
I lived for years in a small, country, dirt road, trailer park. I had the best yard. "my people" came often, several times a week. Some for food, Some for beer and moonshine. Some for the fire pit. Some just for company, and sharing problems. I grew a large garden, and food was free, available, and there for the taking. The lawn chairs always there, and I never minded finding someone in my kitchen before daylight. Musicians came often, dancing, singing, and comedy shows. I always think of them, when I see this video. One came over. Then the second, and it wouldn't be long before the yard was full of fun folks, having a good time. Just a great 10 years, or so....
It was never later in Carlos Santana‘s career. He never stopped working and having hits he is the collaborator to end all collaborators! He never stopped performing. 77 years old and he is still touring exclamation
Fun fact Rob Thomas rewrote the lyrics and melody to the song even though he shares credit with another songwriter he was only supposed to be the song writer but Santana heard him on the Demo and chose him to sing the song. I would suggest bright lights and hand me down by matchbox twenty and mockingbird and her diamonds by Rob Thomas in his solo career he’s very great
thanks, guy - Carlos was always awesome.. (when your hear Santana, you KNOW who you are hearing... lol) and he kept himself "relevant" by working with younger artists -- in this case singer Rob Thomas (Matchbox-something?) ... but Santana is the heart of the song... enjoy your reaction.. hope you listen to more of Carlos... (collab with Michelle Branch is also great.. ).. appreciate your reaction...
How am I still not sick of this song? They beat this to death in 99/00, but it's just such an absolute masterpiece of pop music. Other Santana hits from this era include Put Your Lights On f/ Everlast, Game Of Love f/ Michelle Branch, and Why Don't You & I with Chad from Nickelback. But for more Rob Thomas, check out Matchbox Twenty with Bent, Unwell, or 3am, or his solo stuff like Little Wonders, Streetcorner Symphony, or Mockingbird. Keep up the great work Steven!
The Game of Love - Santana with Michelle Branch. From the same time as this one. It was everywhere. I think it won a Grammy. Do the official music video. Great song. ❤❤❤

The lady giving Rob Thomas the eyes is his wife. :)
Why is she in a car with another man?🤔🤔
Rob Thomas's wife, Madison Maldonado, has Lyme Disease and has become an advocate for helping people that are also suffering from tic borne illnesses. She was at one time a very big model but because of the Lyme Disease, there are days when can't even get out of bed.
Marisol, not Madison. Gotta love that auto correct, even when you're right!

Santana has a very distinctive sound. You know a Santana song as soon you hear it.

Appreciate it! 😁
I love this song and have from Day One.
This song came out the summer of 1999… it was the song of summer!
Matchbox Twenty was HUGE in the 90's. Rob Thomas wrote all of their songs.
This whole album has a guest singer for every song.
SMOOTH 1999!!!
What a song to wake up to, ALLRIGHT! Get it
Rob Thomas is the frontman of Matchbox 20.

Totally East-Coast/West-Coast meets Latin. A perfect American Love Anthem
There is a live concert version of this song somewhere and you get treated to a lot more guitar licks from the amazing Santana! Love this song! 🥰🙌🥰
I came to comment about the live version🔥💯‼️
Great reaction🙌👏. As great as this video version is and it is, there is a live version that takes it even higher‼️💯🔥🔥🔥🎶🎶
Santana is legendary
Santana is the only musician to hit number 1 AFTER being elected to the Rock Hall. Thanks to this song and album it is on
Rob Thomas was lead vocals for the band Matchbox 20 in the 90s

Santana always reinventing himself with the times. It is a very good hot summer Latino vibe.
This is everybody's favorite song!! There is a live version of this that is unbelievable!
Santana never went away. He's been doing his thing since Woodstock. No need to reinvent himself
I just love this song
Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20 ❤
Rob Thomas Matchbox 20...peace...MHK
This song won song of the year at the Grammy’s. Rob Thomas is the lead singer of Matchbox Twenty and they were big in the 90’s.
This album is from 2000. It walked away with something like 5 Grammy that year.
You need to check out the live version of this song - 🔥!

At 77 Carlos is still going strong! Go see him at the House of Blues in Vegas before he retires! He sounds as good if not better now than he ever has.
Unreal!! 🔥🔥
Savage. Plain & simple.
When this song first came out, I said it was an instant classic, and I challenged anyone to prove me wrong.

Santana was given an amazing gift from the angels. :) His music is perfection.

I've been listening to Santana since early 70's! Rob Thomas just adds a sexy voice and vibe!

I wouldn’t say “he reinvented himself”, as he’s been producing hits his whole career, very deep & extensive rabbit hole here. 👍🏼
This track just lit the radio on FIRE, back in the day. Carlos is a straight-up virtuoso.
Rob Thomas is from Match Box 20 and the girl in the car at the beginning and later looking on from her apartment window is Rob Thomas’s wife.
Around this time Santana also did a song with Everlast called Put Your Lights On, thats real good.
I love that move of Carlos genuflecting over the hotness of that dancer lol😂
