  • One week as a full time reseller. Join me from Monday to Friday as I spend 40 hours reselling on eBay and Poshmark.
    Today I donated my 'oops pile' and did a quick shopping trip. I ship my sales -- making sure to calculate my profits. And share my plans to sell on Poshmark.

    A few retailers take clothes and give you a coupon for. Like
    H&M will give you 15% off per bag. Levi will give off also.

    Thanks for the help and encouragement. I just started reselling part time so far ok just overwhelming trying to balance everything out . Ebay is a challenge Poshmark is ok but time consuming with sharing. But then again going into this blind I have made $800.00 in 3 months very proud of myself.

    I've seen clothing resellers who state in their listing "I don't sell anything I wouldn't wear myself/put on my own kids". I'm the total opposite! My closet and my children's closet are full of my "oops" purchases. I tend to buy the things I love in general and am always so excited when an item we can use has a flaw.

    Curious if you've considered photographing yourself wearing your clothes? UA-camr and eBay seller Myka Stauffer says she gets better sales by wearing her merchandise. Especially because I noticed you said you're an XL, and also that you sell a lot of that size. Thanks for the super useful videos!!

    Hi NY Thrifter,
    Thank you for the informative videos. I am a new subscriber and hope you can help me with a question I have asked others and for some reason just don't seem to get an answer.
    I am wondering if you do the global selling with thrift store clothing? I would like pros and cons as I am considering it but don't know enough about it.
    Another question: I am not very good at descriptions and wondering if you have any pointers on how to get better at it. Some people are fabulous at descriptions and you seem to have that quality as well.
    Thanks,
    Jean

    Never buy damaged merch! It's a waste of your time and $. Inspect everything BEFORE you buy! Also never redonate ! Disclose the flaw in your listing and sell it for what you paid for it or for .99 cents.

    My Posh experiences have not been good so far. I bought something, paid for it and the seller backed out and refunded claiming it was damaged. And they removed all my listings for my skin care line saying I couldn't ship liquids - which is bizarre because Mac is shipping liquid foundations, etc. I was really looking forward to it as another platform. I guess I will try listing clothes there, but so far, I feel left out even with 2000+ followers.

    Because I get a lot of estate sales that are from expensive homes but I am in a smaller city, so I end up with a lot of lovely clothes but are not the best labels. They often cost me nothing as they are given to my ministry. What is the best thing I can do with them. I have limited space so am thinking I might do better to do eBay and do lots. I have a fairly large Good Will but not a huge SA but would like to help support the ministries to homeless with these treasures. No bind, no jewelry jars few sales

      @RunwayMUA  7 років тому +1

      It can be hard, but flaws in clothing is the life of a reseller so don't get too down on yourself. The pieces that are in great condition will make up for any damaged clothing you find. Especially if you are sourcing at inexpensive clothing.

    I absolutely love your videos! I followed your beginner series step by step for starting on ebay and I'm not high in sales yet but things are selling steadily thanks to you. Still no feedback though :( (even though I've kindly asked for customers to leave it). I still sell really good peices with flaws. I make sure to do full descriptions and close up photos of the flaws (like tiny holes or clasp is missing). People still buy them! I do believe I will stop selling flawed peices because it can be a hassle with customers still not being satisfied when they see the flaws. What are your thoughts? Thanks again for the wonderful videos! :)

    Love the Poshmark recommendations! With the 30 minutes, I would recommend doing this on a desktop because it is so much faster to share and follow. Sadly, you can't do the listing or editing parts, those have to be done on the app but for the sharing, it really cuts your time in half. Love your channel, I'm totally binge watching right now!

    I've recently started selling on eBay and I've seemed to get a system that works for me down, learning tricks & tips as I go from you & other youtubers like you, your videos are so helpful btw! One question, how long do you usually keep up an item, or relist before you consider reducing the price?

    • @RunwayMUA
      @RunwayMUA  7 років тому +3

      Great question! I don't have any hard and fast rule. The majority of my pieces are 30-day buy in nows which means every 30 days I have to relist whatever doesn't sell. At this time I evaluate if I want to keep the price the same, drop the price, move it to auction, or just take the piece off eBay altogether. I go off my gut and decide in the moment which of these options I want to take. Sorry I couldn't be a little more specific!

    • @arlenerichardson9060
      @arlenerichardson9060 7 років тому +2

      Hi question, I have stayed away from 30 day listings because there seems to be some urgency when buyers know they only have a few days left to buy. Do you see what I'm saying??? Whenever I have done 30 they sit and sit and sit. So I always do 7 day now. What are your thoughts on that? Thank you, love listening to you!

    I have a question about shipping. I'm still confused as to how it works. Is there a website that can show me how to convert the oz. per item into the amount of money it would be. For example; anything over 10 oz. would be how much? or anything under 5 oz. would be how much? I've been holding on to clothing items for two weeks now b/c I dont want to over/under charge for shipping. Please help. Love your videos btw

    Hi. I am new to your channel! Great video, info. & link referral! I have definitely subscribed. Thank you for caring enough about the thrifty- resell community to make these videos. 😀
    I use to resell on Ebay but then life butted in. Excited to get back into it. I have a huge hill to climb 1st though. Been collecting items for awhile & need to go through now & sort, clean, take pics..etc. Urgently before I get labeled a "hoarder" lol I don't specialize in clothes but want to mainly for the shipping/packing aspects. Shipping bulky, fragile items is a real pain.
    Believe it or not, my 1st intro. into wanting to do clothes was Barbie. I found a cute little vintage coat for .50 & resold it for 45.00$!! Like wow!
    Looking forward to more. ty🤠

      Yep. My Goodwill will also take back clothing within 7 days for store credit. The problem is that I rarely get to the clothing within that time period so I am usually stuck with the pieces. But again, I am used to this and factor it into my pricing strategies for the items that do sell.

    Thanks for the videos you have helped me so much ...i would be interested to know how you handle returns I get very paranoid when I get returns I am sure it happens to everyone ...I try to look over my items very throughly I am fairly new only part time reselling since november 2016 hoping to make it full time someday ...

    • @RunwayMUA
      @RunwayMUA  7 років тому +1

      I am of the mindset of just accepting returns and moving on. There are lots of cases where the buyer changes their mind (or the item doesn't fit), so the buyer pays to ship the item back. I've only had three cases where the items were 'not as described'. I accepted the return and when the buyer sends the item back, I offer a full refund. This is just how reselling goes, nothing to get upset by or stressed out about.

    is there a reason you pay shipping?

    • @RunwayMUA
      @RunwayMUA  7 років тому +1

      I charge shipping (which goes into the 'sales' section -- so for example if a shirt sold for $12.99 + $2.99 shipping the total amount would be $15.98 -- I calculate it this way because the eBay fees are calculated on the TOTAL sale price including shipping. So then when I say I paid for shipping, I really just added the shipping into the sales...

    • @RunwayMUA
      @RunwayMUA  7 років тому

      Yep. I do sell damaged clothing on auction. I make sure to disclose all damage and take clear pictures. However, some items that I get for inexpensively or are not great brands I just donate back to the store...it just doesn't seem worth the time and effort to get them up to an auction.

  • @officeadministrator9316

    How long does it take you to complete that many listings? Do you take the pictures at the same time or were they already taken? Great video!

    • @RunwayMUA
      @RunwayMUA  7 років тому +1

      I like to take photos in batches if possible -- so I get together at least 10 'like' items (i.e. dresses, tops) and take the photos. Then I go to my laptop and start listing (taking measurements at this time). It depends on how much time things will take to list, mainly based on the condition of the clothes and if they need steaming or specialized treatment to photograph.
