There is something that is overlooked in this that I think a lot of people gloss over. Not only the RVD quote about how guys commonly drugged marks and women, but the fact there were so many syringes and shit on the plane that if this was a normal airline like American Airline or Delta the FBI would’ve been waiting right at the terminal for everybody is very telling about how different wrestling culture has become in the last 20 years

The good ol days when you drugged your friends and swung your dick in front of everyone... Well, at least the new generation are calmer and would rather play video games and keep to themselves rather than harass the flight attendants.
I lost a lot of respect for Flair when he announced he was suing the WWE over the use of The Man moniker for Becky Lynch but this pretty much destroyed the rest of it. First, you under no circumstance should be walking around naked and swinging your dick. Second, you don't make unwanted advances towards a woman doing her job. Forget Dreamer's reputation. Hearing that Ric Flair has wasted most of his money, wanted to sue the company that paid him enough to get the IRS off his ass,and now stripping down to his robe and swinging his dick which resulted in him sexually harassing a flight attendant is worse then Dreamer defending him. All those wrestlers worship the ground Flair walks on so all of them are going to side with him so it would be her word against 50 wrestlers that have the financial backing of a billionaire. Atleast with the payout she got something out of her tramatic situation cause if she went the other route nothing would have happened.
Sad, but true. The ultimate example was when Owen Hart's wife was trying to sue WWE after he died and her own lawyer was basically like "You're not going to get what you want. Nobody is going to go to prison and nobody is going to go out of business."

Kanyon was on Howard Stern right after WWE released him. He was talking about how he was suicidal & talking about how he thought they released him because he was gay and Flair called in to say it was because he wasn’t good enough & had nothing to do with his life choices. The look on Kanyon’s face was pure sadness after he said that. The more F’d up part was is that Kanyon helped train David Flair a bit.

Poor Dustin. Dude was descending deeper and deeper into his personal hell, but still had what it took to do the only fucking good deed to the girl during the entire flight.
I agree with what The Solomonster said around 20:17-20:25... Yet Taker has the audacity to get triggered by today's wrestlers for playing video games and subtly insinuating that today's male wrestlers aren't "real men" just because they don't drink, party, do drugs, rape people, and stab each other with syringes and scissors. I will gladly take today's wrestlers over these animals from back in the day. They're smarter, working safer, healthier, and are living longer. It's funny that many of the people that I found on social media, the ones who still hold a grudge against Hogan for what he said on that leaked audio a couple of years back, are actually defending Ric, and giving him a pass after what he did 2 decades ago. Both actions from these men are equally terrible. All I'm saying is, keep that same energy going. Hold Ric accountable the same way Hogan was.
Hogan was in private intoxicated and Ric was in public not giving a damn but Flair is given the benefit of doubt? Lol I can’t with online wrestling fans anymore.
That is the same thing I said during the Savage episode. It is weird how people can mock Hogan and yet defend Savage. Either criticize both equally or don't at all
I feel for Dreamer a bit. My wife and I cringed every time he opened his mouth on that episode, but the fact that he's out of a job because of his distorted recollection of a series of incidents that happened 20 years ago while they were all drunk and/or high is a bit extreme imo. Listen to Dreamer's old takes on chair shots on Austin's podcast. He's a cringe factory who once justified head shots by saying "my grandmother is 92 and losing her memory, we're all going to lose it anyway" As for Ric? If everything that was said is true, then its a long time coming that he has to deal with what's coming. As for Dreamer? This is textbook cancel culture BS. He was dismissed because Twitter got mad and he was trending for it and that was it. Dreamer was just the latest head for the Twitter mob to hang like a trophy on their wall.
He purposely disoriented those events. He praised ric flairs big dick and then said “well she should of pressed charges” 🤨 he spoke himself out of a job. Just stfu and he wouldn’t have to worry about his job using their freedom of association and firing him
There's two possibilities here: either Dreamer probably bought into the "war on woke" mentality a lot of people have or he just wasn't objective about it because it's Ric Flair, still seen as a God by many of his peers because of the Legend he is as a performer. Are there people in this age that get offended too easily? Sure. Is this one of those cases? Hell no, the poor woman was cornered by a drunk naked man who forced her to touch his penis. And the best argument was like "well he didn't rape her, he isn't a sexual predator!" like that's the only kind of unacceptable sexual behavior and harassment doesn't come in various forms. I want to hope Dreamer was just blinded by his admiration for Flair, but the way he spoke makes me think that he indeed is one of those people that use the "oh everyone is offended by everything these days" argument to cover up serious stuff too. And that's a sad thing to find out.
Regarding whether Vince and Linda were on the plane or not, the episode makes it pretty clear that Vince and Linda were on the flight going over to the UK for the tour and the PPV. They were not on the flight going home - the Plane Ride From Hell.
I can tell this episode received lower ratings. 1) This story's been told a million times. 2) The dramatization by Vice of this story makes it look corny. Even though, technically it was very dangerous, in actuality, the mood of the wrestlers was more light-hearted. And 3) There were really no major changes from this that took place. If WWE fired Brock and others or made it so that major long-standing company policies would be reformed going forward, then that's one thing, but it felt like business as usual. Btw, I'm certain there are like a million wrestling stories we've never heard before, can't they pick one and offer new perspectives? They have the resources for it. Then again, maybe this show is meant for casuals and not those who didn't hear these stories before.
As far as I see no one is defending the actions. Most of the "defense" seems to be people mad that Tommy Dreamer is getting cancelled for expressing an unpopular opinion. Tommy didn't expose himself or committ any bad acts. He's never been accused of anything of that nature. Yet he still looks like he's about to lose his job
Personally, I think X-Pac and Goldust came away from this looking okay. Goldust got a bit drunk and decided to take over the PA system. Whatever, thats kinda funny, and not really a huge deal. But he also defended the flight attendant from Ric Flair, and that's awesome. And X-Pac cut off Michael Hayes' ponytail. Whatever, not a big deal. That's not only funny, but it's a classic rib that you'd expect from those guys. I'm not condoning whoever decided to drug Michael Hayes though, that's messed up.
I know it's been 2 years since this video was posted on UA-cam, but, does Tommy Dreamer still have his Busted Open Radio deal/work for TNA/both?... To be fair, I've completely forgotten all about that, but, seeing as it's mid-2023 & this clip was posted in mid-2021, I don't think it really matters, now.
When older wrestlers complain about the newer generation and being soft with the current locker room culture, that never made sense to me. I’d rather everyone be friendly and not doing drive and committing sexual assault.
That kinda struck me as odd as well. Don't know why he said that at all, seeing as he was practically the ONLY dude in ECW 25 years ago who DIDN'T take advantage of ring rats, which is heinous no matter who is doing it to who. Perhaps Dreamer is frustrated with his marriage and was expressing it? I don’t see Darkside of the ring lasting more than maybe one more season after this. You’ve got to money mark fans who are essentially paying down on their luck wrestlers to rat out other people in the wrestling business for stuff I’m sure they’ve all done. I honestly think it’s going to be harder and harder for them to find guys to come on the show because while they might be getting a little money to do the show it’s going to be hard to get a job somewhere else as an agent or whatever going forward.

Ric, Scott, and Brock look bad after this but Tommy Dreamer🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
Regarding whether Vince and Linda were on the plane or not, the episode makes it pretty clear that Vince and Linda were on the flight going over to the UK for the tour and the PPV. They were not on the flight going home - the Plane Ride From Hell.
Imagine if they were 😳
I can tell this episode received lower ratings.
This topic was requested repeatedly per one of the creators of the series stated. & hey, I watched it on UA-cam not cable.
Everybody's not ready for space mountain! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
I can’t believe people are somehow defending this
Ric Flair did nothing wrong, WOOOOOOOOOOO!
Because this shit is old af you acting like it happened yesterday its been 20 years
As far as I see no one is defending the actions.
Most of the "defense" seems to be people mad that Tommy Dreamer is getting cancelled for expressing an unpopular opinion. Tommy didn't expose himself or committ any bad acts. He's never been accused of anything of that nature. Yet he still looks like he's about to lose his job
@@battousaithekingslayer9913 so what if something happened 20 ago does that make the actions that less vile ?
@@Kaythemainevent2 nobody said that its already been dealt with in court and shit yaw just being extra with it
Personally, I think X-Pac and Goldust came away from this looking okay.
I'm so glad Chris Benoit, (my favorite wrestler) never got caught up in any controversy like this.
Hahahah
@@elijahloveell8809 this joke went totally over your head 😂
@@riqodinero Ah shit, just realized the joke 😆. My bad
Damn.....
I am in no way surprised to be reminded that Shawn Michaels was a POS.
Different time and place, I get that.
But that culture was so awful.
Keep Flair away from AEW,he’s Toxic AF.
Don callis is there so what’s your point?
When older wrestlers complain about the newer generation and being soft with the current locker room culture, that never made sense to me. I’d rather everyone be friendly and not doing drive and committing sexual assault.
I can't imagine Dreamer will be back in Impact. You cannot have those views in 2021.
Him having two daughters makes it even more unfathomable.
People are allowed to have opinions, or at least they used to be.
Be careful what you wish for
That kinda struck me as odd as well. Don't know why he said that at all, seeing as he was practically the ONLY dude in ECW 25 years ago who DIDN'T take advantage of ring rats, which is heinous no matter who is doing it to who.
Perhaps Dreamer is frustrated with his marriage and was expressing it? I know a lot of married guys who are very frustrated cuz their wives don't let them have sex (hell, like 2/3 of the dudes in my bowling league are like that), they tend to say stupid shit like what Dreamer said.

Companies have *always* had the power to act if your public opinion is something they find unpalatable. It's just that until the last 20 years or so, people didn't have their opinions put on blast across the world due to social media, blogs, etc.
@@SirJoelsuf1 - - definitely possible.
@@tuxedotservo Not disagreeing with you. People used to mostly keep their opinions to themselves, and barely anyone knew about your sexuality/religion/politics. Not entirely sure it's better now to be honest.
I will never doubt the solomonster AGAIN
Vince and angle fight was on the plane from 2001
I imagine someone's going to tell some horrific stories about the ECW locker room on one of these DSOTR's.
Whew and this is WWE. Combine this will the territories, NWA, WCW, New Japan, All Japan, CMLL, AAA, and others you have a grand canyon of stories to fuel this series.
After watching this episode i genuinely understand why Macho Man was as protective of Elizabeth as he was....this whole flight seems like it was an average saturday in the Territories
I can kinda see where Dreamer Was coming from, people are sometimes to sensitive these days. That being sad: we are talking about sexual assault here and stories of wrestlers roofyng girls and Rick putting the flight attendents hand on his junk. That is simply inexcusable .
Nah. Whether people are too sensitive or not this was the absolute wrong time to bring up people being too sensitive. Tommy clearly does not give a fuck about consent. At least not when it involves his heroes or "the boys."
@@robertwarf3316 totally agree on this one.
People should be sensitive about this stuff. You,under no circumstance, should justify sexual harassment or sexual assault.
@@dawnclark4635 like I said I can generally see where dreamer was coming from but this wasn't the right topic at all to make that argument. Sexual assault is not a hill dreamer should've wanted to die on. It's horrible hearing stories about your heroes drugging people to have their way with and ribbing each other like shitting in each other's bags.
Much like a lot of the other DSOTR episodes, there were a lot of things left out or that they got completely wrong.
On the episode they say Vince didn't participate in any of the antics, but Kurt Angle has told many times the story of Vince and Kurt wrestling each other all over the airplane that day.
That was a different flight. That happened after Insurrextion 2001.
Yes they did, but not on this flight. It was 2001.
@@TheSolomonster Any idea where Austin and Taker were during the plane ride from hell?
@@simmorani444 Wish I knew, never hear their names mentioned
Besides what Tommy Dreamer said, I was shocked by RVD saying he had seen women get drugged and raped by other wrestlers. He just lost all my respect for not stepping in to stop them.
I'm really wondering why out of everything in the doc, this is not at the forefront.
Can't wait for the Steroid Trial episode. Vince would probably sue Vice for slander.
Looks like Ric Flair may eventually be taking the Hulk Hogan punishment soon, in that both his name and presence will be banned indefinitely from many of the big wrestling organizations out there for a few years, until he comes out with a very public and sincere apology, and wrestling fans welcome him back with open arms.
The innovator of ignorance Tommy Dreamer
All wrestlers do now is play video games, what a huge difference
I don't care how you see it rather it was 20 years, 40 years, or 60 years. Tommy Dreamer got in trouble for the comments that he was endorsing what wrestling was back then. It was wrong back then and it's wrong today. Sexual harassment is a serious thing just imagine if you were a mother or you had a daughter or someone's grandmother being forced to do something that you don't want to do. Like I said before I don't care if it was back then or now you need to prevent stuff like this from happening. This is nothing new with WWE has done they have been dealing with scandals always dates back to the 1960s in the 1970s as well as the 80s and 90s
In storyline, Flair and McMahon were co-owners at the time. Flair was assigned Raw, and McMahon SmackDown. So in order to keep with the storyline, McMahon was with the SmackDown crew and Flair with the Raw crew.
I don’t see Darkside of the ring lasting more than maybe one more season after this. You’ve got to money mark fans who are essentially paying down on their luck wrestlers to rat out other people in the wrestling business for stuff I’m sure they’ve all done. I think it’s going to be clear as it’s harder and harder to find stories like the brawl for all or stories were maybe there is just one clear villain because they’ve done a lot of these, that it’s going to turn into let’s just pay these guys to tell on each other about scumbag things they’ve done over the years. I honestly think it’s going to be harder and harder for them to find guys to come on the show because while they might be getting a little money to do the show it’s going to be hard to get a job somewhere else as an agent or whatever going forward.
Not sure if they've been confirmed or not, but reports of Heidi Doyle's alleged criminal history have come out in the past couple days. If true, it lends a little credibility to Flair's vehement denial of trying to force her to touch him. Curious to hear what he says if/when he talks.
@@segagenesis7708 Right, but if she's a career criminal then her individual story, and all it's dramatic embellishment, suddenly isn't so sympathetic.
