Thank you so Very much. 💓 Cutting fabric is so hard for me. I was about to quit. Then I found your videos. Your instructions are easy to follow. Thank you
Thank you for such easy explained ways to make this quilt pattern. I do appreciate you taking the time to do it. And I will be downloading the PDF so I can see my options for making a quilt.
@@MoonkinStitchery I couldn’t figure out how to go about making this block. Wondered about it for 2 months. Envisioned it, you put it in motion for me. I’m smiling BIG time
I'm not really great at doing small squares. So I'm going to take the 5" squares and make the 4 patch using the scrappy 4 patch method that I saw on UA-cam. Also I tend to lose small squares (I think I have gremlins lol). This way I'm less likely to lose them. Thanks again for a great video.
I love this!! I have been looking for a scrappy layer cake pattern for a holiday themed layer cake. This pattern is perfect!!! Thank you so very much!!
Thank you so very much for the tutorial. It was very clear and precise. Could you possibly give me the name of the Layer Cake used in the download. Not this one? Thanks
What another great pattern! Thanks so much. Would you address how you deal with pinked edges on charm packs and layer cakes? I also discovered a layer cake under a pile of fabric. 🙄The edges all around are just slightly over 10” however I am going to square the whole pack up to 10” before I start cutting so I don’t have to deal with the potential build up of additional fabric after piecing.
Honestly, every layer cake and every manufacturer are different. Best practice for all brands is to measure them first before any steps. Make sure they are all 10" and at this time, figure out if you need to count the point tips on the pinked edges or the valley. Creative grids ruler has a "perfect 10" ruler that can make this process easier to check and trim off everything. (They also have a perfect 5" ruler too. Lol)
Any tips on keeping everything squared up? When I sew the sides onto the four patch it comes out a bit skewed. Everything seems correctly cut before I put it all together.
I use a Moda layer cake (I Believe in Angels) I followed all the cutting directions and when the squares are done, they are smaller than 8 1/2". I have to square them up to 8". I hope that will be ok.
Yes I did. I still treat it like a lap quilt for her table cloth quilts and I like to use Hobbs batting. (I like a lot of their products, but mostly use the Hobbs 80/20 cotton blend.)
Since you mentioned you are changing your blades often, another option could be your cutting mat. Even self-healing cutting mats can get overused and eventually wear out. I usually replace my cutting mats every 1-2 years. (My rotating mat desperately needs to be replaced, but I still try to hold out as long as I can. lol)
I'd love to quilt your quilt! ❤ Link: www.moonkinstitchery.com/longarmquiltingservices

Either square things up as you go, or at the end of your block making, square it up as the last step.
I use a Moda layer cake (I Believe in Angels) I followed all the cutting directions and when the squares are done, they are smaller than 8 1/2". I have to square them up to 8". I hope that will be ok.
Yes that's fine. Not all layer cakes are perfect but as long as your final blocks are all the same size then it will be ok! 😁🤗
Could a jelly roll be used, or is there enough fabric? Thank you!
You can use a jelly roll too! 😊
Great pattern once again- thank you! Curious- did you use batting in the table clothe- if so what type?
Yes I did. I still treat it like a lap quilt for her table cloth quilts and I like to use Hobbs batting. (I like a lot of their products, but mostly use the Hobbs 80/20 cotton blend.)
My blade never works that well and I change it very often. What can I do?
Since you mentioned you are changing your blades often, another option could be your cutting mat. Even self-healing cutting mats can get overused and eventually wear out.
