Beautiful. I would bind it in a darker chocolate brown colour.
Very fun Thank you 🎉
Need to let you know how much I enjoyed the video. So much valuable info. Thanks Joan,U.S.A.
Quilting - just wavy lines from top to bottom. Binding - chocolate 😍
Awesome. This looks great
I really like this quilt. I think I am going to make one. And I do like you colour choice. I think I would bind it in the same colour as the border so as to not distract from the quilt.
Thank you so much 😊
quilt edge to edge in fall designs....bind in the brown...
Hi Katrina. Since your blocks have straight lines but lots of movement, I like the idea of gentle swirls to quilt it with. I would add a medium blue binding and perhaps the largest motif floral for the backing. Whatever you decide it will be wonderful, as all your quilts are. Thanks for another fun video.
Love this
Oh my gosh, this is absolutely gorgeous! I have a perfect layer cake in my stash. Than😮 you!
Greetings to all quilters from me in British Columbia, Canada. ❤️👋🇨🇦 I live near Vancouver. Marvellous quilt block pattern. Thank you very much!
Great way to make a "no brainer" quilt! Brown is the perfect binding as will pull out the fillet color. Quilting. It's a quick quilt, keep it so by stitching in the ditch.
Notes from my sweat shop. For production sewing/pressing, conduct first pass of sewing, stagger the edges on your ironing board and set them with one press. Second pass of sewing (for other side), do same. Then open up and press seam individually,
I would bind in the chocolate brown. Will make a nice frame.
Love, love, love this idea. What a rest between specific cutting for most quilts. I have a ton of layer cakes, can’t wait to try! Thanks 😊 I would tie it, as it looks like an old time quilt made from clothing.
I have made numerous quilts this way. I have to say it is one of my favorites. I just love all the randomness to it.
quilt with some sort of curvy line as it is all straight in the blocks...I love swirls, but it is your quilt, love this going to have a go
I think the chocolate brown would be lovely as the bind8ng.
Love your videos, always good to see you.
I’m starting a lap version for my grandson, only using three different prints, all of which are foods/drinks hopefully this works as well as yours. Love the tutorials. Thank you. 😊
What an amazing quilt Katrina. Personally, I would add a blue border and a swirly but not too fussy quilting design and I agree with an earlier comment that it does remind you of an old fashioned quilt made out of scraps of clothing. I would probably hand quilt it.
My sister makes these types of quilts, but she adds a 1 1/2” black sashing to have a mosaic look. Both are lovely❤! Nice and easy and yes, freeing. Well done!! I’d love to see it bound in the blue and brown honeycomb fabric!! 😍
Love the idea of the sashing ❤
The chocolate color would look really nice for the binding.
Lots of movement and very cool fabric. 😅 Chocolate and Caramel, a great name for the quilt.
🎶💖💐
hi, I’d love to see the finished quilt. 👍
Pretty quilt. Thank you for sharing
I think that to binding would be nice in the chocolate. I like a curvy quilting on angular blocks as it softens the look of the quilt.
Thank you for sharing this pattern/ process with us ☺️!
This quilt is beautiful , the colors are great for fall ! This would also be a great way to use leftover fabrics!
Thank you so much! I love it!! Happy quilter in California USA
I made a quilt just like this. layer cake Flannels Fabrics.
It was fun and easy!
Thank you! This is just the "pattern" I was looking for to use with a layer cake I have. I love the randomness of it! I would think maybe the caramel color would be pretty as the quilting thread. Also, I entertained the thought of piecing the three together and then cutting again the other way. Hhhhmmmm. Might try that. Thank you again. Love your tutorials! Happy Quilting!
I'd bind in the dark brown. Quilt in straight lines, but at angles to each other ...... thanks
Love this design!
GREAT AND ESY PATTERN THANK YOU
I’d bind it in one of the blues. Love the quilt and how easy it looks. Love your videos❤️
Lovely quilt and so easy to put together. Love all our videos.
Brilliant
Very Lovely. I think a chocolate binding would be pretty. Thank you for sharing.
Great tutorial
I think some type of swirelry quilting would look very nice. The binding would look great in a blue. Great quilt
So pretty and EASY! Just how I like things - I’ll be making this one for sure - thank you 😊
Thank you Katrina…such a fun way to cut. BTW…my eyes too would have been distracted by that beautiful red and white pack..! X Dottie
Very pretty quilt. Minus the flower material like maybe some plaid would be a perfect quilt for a man. I'd like to make one for myself. Thanks for a beautiful pattern. I made one similar to this but different candy material and in the center I drew some candies and then wrote around the top and bottom saying...life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what your going to get. Has a chocolate brown border and back. It has a pink border bcuz a lot of the fabrics had pink in them. I am really proud at how it turned out.😊
Absolutely love this tutorial, it’s very well done.❤
I like it
I absolutely love the free form cutting of the quilt blocks. Thank you for sharing 🌼🌼
Very nice and not hard for a beginner like me to do. Thank you for sharing. I Would use chocolate brown for my border….🦋🦋🦋
It’s a lovely quilt!
Thanks for sharing
Love the quilt, it looks very quick and easy to make.. I do love the material, and the pattern. thanks for sharing. use chocolate for the binding.
Beautiful ❤
Love this quilt top. Proof that simple works! For the quilting, a wavy line or bigger loops. I would bind in the chocolate color.
Looks like total fun.
This is definitely the pattern for me. Going to use it for my bed cover. Love it!
Hello Katrina, firstly was so lovely to meet you last weekend in Dodington...love the quilt block ..a blue binding and a very simple quilt pattern.Thank you for sharing your skills with us followers...love Trish x
Love this freeing pattern!
Yes a darker binding and some curved quilting
Love this fabric, I have a tumbler block in progress with it. I would quilt yours wavy lines in one direction and bind either with a dark blue or a scrappy binding
This is a great scrap quilt pattern. Just cut scraps into ten inches and then chop away!
Quilt in circles.
I think I would choose a flowery quilting pattern to echo the flower prints. I like the idea of using the caramel as a binding. Love this quilt . I’ve got to do it now.
Katarina great quilt. Love it. Is it the best pattern for a first quilt. Thanku
I love you 2 ladies! I’d order from your shop, but shipping would cost so much more.
I love it! Very little waste. Love the randomness. Must try this out soon. Thanks so much for excellent tutorial.
Nice eye candy! And to go with the candy theme, I would quilt it to look like round peppermint 🍬 candy in a wrapper. Caramel binding would help focus on the design of the blocks. Love it!
Believe it or not? Lol. Love ya.😂
I love this tutorial, easy peasy Thank you 👍👏🥰🌸🇦🇺
I would use a blu for binding and some sort of curvy motif E2E for the quilting. I’m like you I did a slash quilt and just did not care for it and put the blocks away. I just recently pulled them out of my WIP pile and laid it out and sewed it up. Absolutely love it now!
What a great video and such a delight starting off in the shop - more fabric glimpses please.
Glad you liked the new introduction, we will do this more often!
Lovely colors. Brown is my absolute favorite color. I would quilt using some sort of curves, circles, or wavy lines to add even more interest.
I like it! Thanks great idea, bind it in Carmel and quilt it in a smaller pattern like jigsaw.
Beautiful and quick proyect! I would quilt it with a varigated blue thread with a organic look made with curved lines. Thank you for sharing.
Quilting: Something with curves (such as an all-over pan to), and consistent in design to offset the “odd” shapes. I think that would enhance the quilt. Kathleen in Canada
Lovely quilt and colour scheme Katrina. I would do a medium to large swirly quilting and then bind it in the dark brown to match the fillet x Thank you for sharing with us xx
So easy and so pretty! Perfect for the beginner (me)! No idea how to quilt, geometric or swirly, both would look wonderful.
What a great pattern. Like you said, very freeing.
I think swirls would be a great compliment to the straight lines.
As for the binding, I think use the same caramel color.
I cannot wait to make one.
I just love your tutorials! This pattern today is just up my alley and the color way of the layer cake just made me happy. ☺️ I wonder what a geometric quilting would look like, too. Cheers❣️
Beautiful, Thank You.
Thank you for sharing. Love your technique
I love your tutorials! I would possibly quilt it in a swirly pattern and bind it with a a scrappy border, or blue border. I am very partial to blu😊
I’d like brown binding, maybe a zig zaggy quilting design. It is so pretty!
I love this idea! You have really highlighted the fabrics and colors. THANK YOU for sharing your creativity
I love the basic grey fabric you have used, And the borders are perfect. Love watching your videos.
Love it!
Bind with the same color/fabric as the border IMO. I love the quilt. I'm no good at what's good for the quilting..... I keep it simple. Thanks for the video 😊
Would you show how you add your fillet? Is it just a small sashing, or folded and laying on top of the block? Thanks.
I love the way this turned out!
Hi Toni, Here is an older video of Katrina adding a fillet to the border of a quilt: ua-cam.com/video/PLWsixZ4ECY/v-deo.html
I would use dark brown
I would love to see it bound in blue.
This is lovely! I would like to see you bind it in the caramel. I think the brown would be a distraction for my eyes. BTW...I love everything about your channel EXCEPT I always want more to watch. 😂
Hi, Thanks for the lovely words. We have plenty more videos coming!
I love your quilt and plan to try this asap! Not sure how I would quilt it…maybe squiggle lines since I’m not good at free motion😂
I love it! It looks like denim ❤
likewise not a fan of blue or brown but your quilt looks really nice. I would quilt it with a swirly pattern or circles because of all the straight lines, binding in either a blue or brown from the range maybe, thanks for the great tutorial Katrina ✔
bind in the brown
I don’t use a lot of browns but I like how you used it. I’d use a brown batik for back and binding. I don’t do a lot of quilting but I love grid work on the angles.
oh I love this, I would add something dark for the last border
I would bind to match the border. It gives my eye a place to rest and contains the mix. Quilting pattern should be soft with medium curves, but not a tight floral. However there's a lot of options depending on the actual patterns in the fabric mix. I once did something similar with bright juvenile Halloween blocks on a smaller scale. It was like containing a riot on my wall.
Forgot to mention: great stash buster.
Do you have a video on the fillet?
Hello Jojo- here it is: ua-cam.com/video/PLWsixZ4ECY/v-deo.html
I think I'd quilt with allover, different sized circles. And bind in blue. Nice quilt!!
i would bind it in the blue.
Did you mention the size of this quilt? I would love to make one.
1st ... bind in blue
2nd ... what would happen if you cut the block in half again?
I'd do it in a brown thread.
