I gotta say Sir, your videos are now dominating 95% of my UA-cam viewing, and that really says to me, that you're doing awesome things. I'm not even watching my boot or vehicle reviews anymore. Lol
It's been over a year, and I was wondering if Nokta has fixed the issue with the positive iron bias yet? Also, have they revised the headphones switch? Thank You.
1st day 4 rings, my first ring. One gold. This will be it's name after the update.... Good video. We like your videos and fairness. Actually got Simplex and Legend because of your talk about their listening to users. Keep up great videos...
I wish you had Irate site up before I started 6 years ago :) I have had nearly as many detectors as you! now i'm down to Apex (bad), Simplex (ok), Nox800 (great), Deus 2 (still learning)
I agree, a switch on the headphones is a problem. I hated that about the old ones and while they did go with bluetooth as I was adamant about on facebook, they kept that damn switch. The good news is, this machine is blue tooth compatible. I'd probably just pick up some nice ear buds for beach hunting anyway and also use them for music on my phone etc. The ID on deep items is very interesting. I find the NM machines are a lot more shape oriented. Meaning if a coin is on edge it rings in way different. Once you dig it up and lay it flat sure it sounds good, I think that it the issue. My NM Kruzer oddly enough has a setting for ID depth. You can pick shallow or deep and I always run it on deep. It's much better that way but I wonder why that option isn't on the Legend? Probably due to multi frequency. Anyway I think it's the same issue the NOX had at first with the silver rings not IDing on edge. Just a tweek needed but that being said, all machines suffer at depth especially on the beach because........the substrait under the soil is constantly changing and throwing off the ground balance. I personally find auto tracking problematic in my area but I have no idea if auto or manual ground balance is better on the beach. As for the small targets, if you saw Iffy's other video where he drops the iron tone break(not discrimination) down to 7 and the iron bias issue almost vanishes, then that's what you should do with the Legend. The new update drops it to 10 but that's still too high for small gold in my opinion. I'd drop the tone break to 7 which will kick out most nails and ground but not smaller mid conductors. You can go a bit higher if you must but try to run it as low as possible. Then set your salt stability as low as it can go. Reactivity based on your conditions I suppose. I was actually shocked that you were hitting more targets at a higher reactivity . Those beaches don't see to be that loaded in trash but I could be wrong.
Thanks Merrill. I'm so emotionally invested in the Legend that I didn't want to hear negative reviews about it but you are right about the VDI shifts. I spent hours on Sunday digging in wet sand and the numbers were constantly changing after I dug up the target. Even worse, they would disappear if the target ended up being iron. I get that a detector might initially misinterpret a signal but don't discriminate it out once I dig it up. That makes me think I turned it on edge and dig even more. Most of the deep signals were not giving me a ferrous reading so I dug up a lot of disappearing iron targets; very frustrating. I'm confident Nokta Makro will eventually fix all these issues but in the meantime, your feedback is extremely helpful and validating.
Cindy Lee B - Cinz is correct, turn on pinpointer while submerged and it will only sound if there's a legit target in the hole. I guess it's a ground balance thing. Love the vids, keep 'em comin...go go go!
The current machines of interest xp deus2, minelab 800, and notka makro legend if you can focus on the totality of these machines they seem to be the top 3 thanks merril you do great job
My coworker just got this detector. I gave it a quick once over. Seems like a more affordable copycat NOX800. Very very similar to an Equinox. I do like the hand grip and the flashlight on the back of it though. The handgrip is 10x better than the NOX. Way more comfortable.
You city park guys should come up to ulster county and try the parks up here. I’m real curious to see what you can pull. I’m not typically a park hunter. Reason being is that there really are not THAT many detectorists as compared what u have.
Do the legend headphones 🎧 hook up with equinox? There post saying they and work nice always looking for decent headphones. Nice finds great vids. I have 9 detectors and about 3 coils for each 10 more I catch up to you.Been detecting for about 20 years.Good luck unlock the gold.
Thanks for your honest opinion on this Nokta Makro legend , it is a reasonable priced Machine, I'm looking for a water detector and that will do the job providing you can use it underwater like the at-pro and I believe you can,' Can't you ?? Thanks again Merrill.
I’m really debating getting the legend, owning the nox 8 and the D2. Is there anything it can do that the both of them can’t? I strongly doubt it but I’m seeing this lack of iron falsing and in certain areas may be better than the nox but in those areas the D2 is sick,so… Anyway I just can’t believe how incredibly good the ID on the D2 is at depth. It’s kind of insane to have a scale go up to 99 and have it ring up the same exact number as it did 10” down. But you and Paystreak basically are going to tell me if i have to spend another 600 dollars lol.
@@thomasalison6188 I’m a big believer in the utility of simultaneous multi frequency. The lowest SMF is the vanquish 340. Same price as the most popular Quest model
So merril, what your saying is we should be patient why notka is willing to give proper updates to make this machine very competitive or what’s your opinion give us the best opinions over all up to now, pros and cons, they all have but is notka fixing the problems so we can get maximum performance at the price thanks
The beach update that's coming out soon I'm sure it's going to address some of the issues on the beach program but I will tell you in the meantime if you drop your recovery rate down to one or two definitely lowers the chatter on there to a tolerable level. That allows you to keep your stability level at two or three also. Next time you're at the beach try using just Park one or two multi-frequency and see how the detector Works in that mode instead of going to beach as I've seen other comments where you don't need to go to beach on the dry sand. If the Vanquish can go from the sand to the water with no changes and its multi-frequency you would think the legend should be able to do that also.
I'm glad I held off buying the Legend. I agree updates may cure some of the Legends flaws but how in the sam heck did these flaws get through the Honey Badger sand scoops of all of the testers. Or maybe the testers did identify these flaws and NM failed to address them. Worrisome? Time will tell.
I think all the flaws it has can be fixed with some firmware updates, which I'm sure will be a few. The Deus 2, I have seen coils that loose connections, MI-6 pointers that won't connect to the units when you have them linked ( I have experienced that myself and figured out how to fix it ) and a screen that is in an eternal boot loop. So it seems all the really new detectors are having growing pains.
I dont ever see you respond in the comments so I dont know if you will read this. The issue with the Legend isn't separation. In fact, it separates better than the nox. The issue is with down averaging of targets. When both targets are in the same sweep, the software down averages the VDI into the iron range. Thats why all you hear is iron. IF you move the tone break down to 7(Iffy's updated video), it provides a good tone. I suspected it was a down averaging issue when I was seeing air tests done and VDI numbers were more stable then ground targets with trash in close proximity. They can fix this with the right formula for averaging in the software. They can also eliminate more EMI with some software filters in conjunction with the correct VDI averaging formula.
Sorry I always try my best too. I have been getting more than I can handle lately. Honestly I don’t know anything about down averaging. What is the source of this information? I would love to study up on it. I agree now that the issue is not separation but respectfully disagree about the Legend separating better than the Nox. You even have a shot with objects on top of each other with the Nox. What I am seeing is slight problems in the presence of iron. I have a video coming out where the Nox hits a silver signal and the Legend does not. This is the only one out of 30 tries that the legend has not matched the equinox. Iron was present in this test.

Well after test in my va mineralized ground today 9" deus 2 vs 11" nox I can say every here n again if I hot a audio feature at random " the deus has so many audio options" it competes heads up which translates to being up in the battle for deus 2 just on argos
