- If you complete Gale's romance scene in Early Access he will reveal why he needs magical artifacts to consume. This is one of my favorite scenes currently available in Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access.

He was likely in his early twenties at the youngest. Mystra was effectively dead for a century and only returned about 10 - 15 years before the events of the game, so if we work with the assumption that Gale is in his late thirties here, he was young then, but not a boy.

Glad they changed him. He is much sweeter and more honest now. Feels kinda toxic to have him sleep with you, with his secret still, and then be like “but youll stay with me right?” only for him to say he might still be in love with his goddess and muse. It’s much much better this way.
Yup I agree. This was a change for the better
The thing about EA is they didn't have separate dialogue for weather you are romancing him or not, him telling you about Mystra happens either way and the dialogue is the same other than a few extra lines they added in case you romanced him.

haha the old gale would screw you in act 1 the new gale is too shy to take of his clothes infront of tara haha, I love that we got the cute coy wizard and not the pushy one even tho there are some hints of him still left in the game :D thank you for uploading

It’s interesting to see how his character changed in the full version! As much as I like the confidence and upfrontness of this Gale, I really think they did a great job scaling it back a bit to make him more… approachable? Compared to some of the other characters who are (seemingly) very bold and confident with love. Him and Wyll are my fav hopeless romantics ❤😊

I was a bit disappointed with Wyll, but he's ok i guess. It's a rather serious chrcter with depths and less ...vulnerable moments than the others.
I even did a playthrough with a not so evil, but rather chaoitic neutral character, who somehow ended up with Astarion and Halsin at the same time. ^^
But yeah, atm i have Gale for the second time. Once it was before a certain update, now after. I hope they didn't cut out too much of his content again. Gale's pretty funny, i experience him a bit like a D&D RomCom :D
Yup agreed. Gale was done incredibly well. I prefer Wyll’s original voice, but that’s probably because I played a ton of ea to make content for the channel.

This video is back from the Early Access. He has been rewritten. In the EA he was written to be younger, and Mystra was a short time lover, where she approached him. In the final version he is older, it seems he is the one who tried to win Mystra's intimacy, their love lasted a long time as he says - so few years perhaps?, and he had mortal lovers before her. But also by the time he sleeps with you in Act 2, he seems to be over her when it comes to loving her. She will always be his goddess, for better or for worse.
And of course they've got that flappy thing just hanging out there watching them both.

It's so interesting how people get different dialogues at different points - I'm nearly maxed out with his approval but because I haven't progressed that much in the story itself he told me this before any sexy shmexy time had occurred. Nice to see the different dialogues, thank you!

I'm sorry but some of those dialogue options are genious..... I died at "so much fun to hear about other lovers after spending the night together" and "Perhaps she, like you, had other lovers" ... kinda sad these aren't in the game anymore :D
Yup I agree. All in all they did a great job, but I do miss some of the EA stuff.
Gale sounds very familiar to me, I know it's not the same actor, but some of his mannerisms and the way he says things remind me so much of Alistair from Dragon Age!
Both of them are so sweet with a little bashfulness to their characters, you can't help but fall in love with them! 😍🥰😍🥰

I've never actually played BG3 but God I'm glad they changed these interactions in the final release, this is just so awkward
They did a great job for sure
He basically does the same thing Astarion does; seduce someone to shield himself from a greater enemy.
Ehh, while entitled, I feel like Gale in the EA does genuinely feel for Tav, compared to Astarion. He never says he loves you or anything, and good, because it would be way too fast. But he cherishes you. The fact that he is manipulative out of the fear of abandonment is another matter.

It’s very different, and at first i didn’t even realize i had maximum approval already. I got the first date invitation and real confession one night before was supposed to die. He was slower to me, but it seems more steady, more fitting and more mature that way. And no, my character didn’t let him blow up. So outlook still good. :D

The rest of the scene is awkward as hell especially with his random info dumping about mystra near the end, but man I wish this part stayed in lol 2:49
It’s definitely neat seeing these old EA scenes and to compare them to the finished product.
I did stupid stuff, Mystra abandoned me, I hope you wont AFTER I SLEPT WITH YOU... sounds like the same manipulation that Astarion is pulling.
While the info dumping about Mystra and Karsus was odd, as was the random info about the orb. BUT - I do kind of like that he was more confident and forward prior to the sex-scene. I wish in release you could convience him either to sleep with you during that tiefling party or at least a kiss? IDK.
Instead he is just too frustrated and drunk to bother with you and his romance takes much longer. If he really felt his time was so limited, I would assume he would be more impulsive. But oh well.
Right? A lil bumbling kiss with the orb acting up and him being like uhhh see you tomorrow, i should go to sleep.
Omg this reminds me how much I did not like early access Gale. I was really dubious to add him to my party when the game launched, and now I can't stop romancing him. They changed his character for the better 1000000%
It's the first time I see this dialogue about his relationship with Mystra and why she broke up with him. Am I missing something?? :(((
This is an earlier version of the scene from Early Access. In the new version the scene is changed quite a bit. It usually triggers before Act 2 if your approval is high enough.
Its amazing how much of the lines and information is the same ir similar, but timing and a few changes make all the difference. I adore Gale, but I i don't think I'd feel the same about this version of him. I mean sleeping with your character before sharing his secrets? Feels really gross and manipulative, especially with him checking that you'll stay and saying he may still be in love with Mystra. *Shudder*
I just did tiefling party today and did not get this. It sounds like the same dialog from later scenes. So is new or is this modded?

Yeaaaaaah, I don’t like this Gale
I really appreciate the changes made to Gale in the full game. I know that for some people, they think it makes him seem less confident since he won't sleep with you after the tiefling party, and it's true that he is desperate for validation and acceptance, I don't think his refusal at that time is indicative of a lack of confidence
I like it because, for one, he's being practical. With the orb, he can't be sure what physical or emotional stimuli could trigger a reaction, so it's safer to just decline. And on another note, he's still processing his emotions in regards to you and to Mystra. He's finally seeing a future in which he might be enough for someone, or that he could be with someone that isn't this goddess that he's so used to trying to be worthy of.
But once you've made it clear that your interest is genuine and the orb is stable? He is upfront, honest and to the point. He approaches you about wanting to be intimate well before he actually attempts anything, and he doesn't try to hide how he's feeling or what he's thinking. Contrast that with this Gale, who very readily and with little prompting will not only offer sex, but will seem almost entitled to it due solely to the fact that you previously showed interest.
I like that Gale in the launch version is still pretty outwardly full of himself and is very sure of his talents, but he showcases that, like many who are told they're gifted from a young age and who present themselves with an air of over confidence, he hides deeply rooted insecurities and a longing for acceptance. Whereas here, be seemed to lack such nuisance. He was simply arrogant and substantially more manipulative.
Here, he actively hides his past relationship with Mystra for fear that it would hurt his chances of sleeping with you. While in the launch version, you can't even kiss him without knowing of his previous relationship, and he shows genuine remorse over not telling you about the orb and Mystra sooner, whereas here he simply tries to pressure you into staying by making it out like you would be abandoning him and painting you out to be cruel if you leave.
Sorry for the rant but UGH the writing is phenomenal and I love what they did with him, but that just makes it more interesting to revisit this version of him!
Yup I can’t agree more. In. EA he seemed supremely confident even after his mistake with Mystra. I vastly prefer this Gale. Thank you very much for watching and for the comment.
FUCK you’re so right and i just realized that gale’s fall from grace parallels the gifted kid burnout phenomenon and is probably the reason i like him so much
