Hi mate. Good timing on your brakes! Ive got drums all round with dual circuit but last time driving the brakes seem to have gone off somewhat. There’s definitely still some braking there but they are definitely worse than they were. Any thoughts?

Hi Paul, first thing I’d check is the fluid level in the reservoir. If it’s gone down you may have a leak. I’ve found it’s most likely in a slave cylinder in one of the wheel drums. If that’s ok they may need adjustment. There is no automatic adjustment as your brake shoes wear down. The thing to do is jack each wheel up in turn and look through the peep hole on the front of the drum with a flashlight as you turn the wheel. You will see the slave cylinder and a toothed wheel on the end. If you use a screwdriver turn the toothed wheel until you start to feel a small amount of resistance when the shoe touches the drum. Do this on all wheels and it may improve. Hope this helps
