Hey Rob!!! So glad you enjoyed getting to know Ruby! And for taking one home! Enjoy.
Thanks for the review Rob, sounded great!!! Cheers Mate!!
Nice video Rob! Hope you have a great NAMN show!
Those UA pedals sound glorious. Would love to hear you AB the Ruby with the real thing when you return to the rock. Btw, I got back from my first trip to Malta a few days ago. Loved it! Stayed in the old walled city in Valetta and saw the festival of giant puppets the night before we left. Beautiful city. Fantastic seafood restaurants all around the coast. And some of the bluest, clearest sea I have swum in years. Great hotel, lovely people, buses that run everywhere reliably and not at all expensive! Just perfect.
I’ve used an iridium and Walrus ACS1 for a while now. Got to try this out today and i ordered it already. It “breathes” like an amp and just does the thing so well.
Very kind of you to tip that guitarist...bet it made his day !
He made me happy, first live act Id seen for years!!
I subscribed to your channel because of the Diablo II reference, keep it up
nice playing Rob!
I caught that snippet of Aurora's -Running with the wolves, totally underrated artist , Cheers mate :)
She is super awesome, wonderful human being :-)
Pre-shenanigans, catching some rays and adjusting to the time zone, also doing a little bit of shopping - love you guys hope to meet as many of you as possible outside the NAMM show, Sat at 4pm!
Chappers: “I only play stood up”
Every Andertons video ever:
I know you're a high gain guy and are great at that style but my word the first few seconds are great, I wish we could hear you play like this more often.
I'm a huge fan!! I live in Chicago I wish I knew you were coming!!!
Was going to buy a VOX AC30 but my budget wouldn't allow it for now but bought the Ruby '63 and holy crap Batman it's the real deal.
Cool that you showed some of the really nice things there are to see in Chicago, it’s not the hellscape a lot of people think it is
Good stuff! :)
03:00 that's Lee's & Rob's signature jam! I love that so much. In fact, I'm gonna pause the video, jam a little and come back ... later this evening :)
Hi Rob Just Today they Delivered my used Vox TB35C2... Thanks for the Andertons Videos You and Lee Made My Choice For Me
Troy from Atlantic City
Ha ha, Glad you enjoyed the stay out this way in Chicago and sorry you had food poisoning on the ride over. Glad you’ve bounced back and hope California is treating ya well. I leave stupid early Wednesday (my flights at 5:45am), lol. Hoping I can just sleep and watch Spinal Tap on the plane (maybe I’ll rewatch the new Stranger Things season?) See ya at the hangout,
Aaron
Lol the Great Lakes really are a marvel. Freshwater seas basically. Growing up in Michigan, it was a trip to see the ocean for the first time and go “oh… it’s like Lake Michigan” 😂
The new UA pedals are sick. But at $400 each, I’d be at $1,200 for all three. I am more tempted by the new TwoNotes ReVolt. It is a tube pedal with three amps in one pedal… a Fender, Marshall, and Soldano, for $500. Sounds great in videos, but not sure yet how it compares to the UA ones.
Awesome Rob. Was that an FRFR speaker cab you were playing that pedal through? I’ve been looking for a good one for my QC. Oh and again it would be awesome if Sweetwater sold Chapman guitars.
Hello Steve, actually it was just a black star combo, through the clean channel I believe - honestly I think it would sound amazing through pretty much anything 😉
Some people talk shit about Rob but he seems like humble guy to me he is a great guitarist and does great demo's
He seems to be working on it
So, running four cable method into the Blackstar combo, effectively replacing the preamp? Was the cab sim still on though? At one point Don says "through greenbacks" referring to one of the presets selected so I'm assuming it was.
Hey Rob. Great video. Where did you get that amazing guitar strap? Cheers.
That guitar was meant to me by the lovely Matt!! Not mine :-)
i like the explosions
Explosion.
Fun video. I wasn't familiar with THE RUBY.
AC-30 ,60s with 2x12 s has the whole cabinet to resonate with and they all sound a bit different. I shall have to try one of these pedals out cos on the phones it sounds too clean and spikey. Great viddy!
Are there any plans for any UK shoes or appearances anytime soon. I can see why you'd be in no rush?
Haha, I recognize that Ramada. See you at the show!
Yes bro, haven’t seen you in ages it seems :-)
I don't know if you'll ever make it back to Minneapolis, Rob, but if you ever do, I'd love to show you around town. We have a local place to get Mead, and drink like a Viking!
Hi Michael, I’m sure I’ll make it back at some point - love Minnesota and have a few friends that live there :-)
Whats that riff Chappers is playing at 3:30? Ive heard him play it ages back and it rings a bell. Lovely tones too
Majesty, from the bare bones album
Sounds great, but i'm confused. Rob says "totally suspends my disbelief that it's not a valve amp." But, isn't he playing the pedal *through* a valve amp? Blackstar combo? Is that amp solid state? If not, aren't we hearing a combination of the Ruby processing through tube amplification?
My name? Oh let me tell you my name. Uh, I'm confused. Because uh you know, like we're supposed to believe in the ministry, right? Is a confused person get a resolution? I don't understand. You see, when you go like that, right, you have a cross, right. Two sticks, right. And that's how I felt when I was in Waterloo. Cuz when I walked in Waterloo and smiled at people, they treated me like a vampire. They used the cross and they went like this by not smiling at me. In Toronto, hey hi guys, you know me. Steve Spiros. Easy going? Those who know me, I'm a nobody. You understand? And you can't kill a person with no body. So, why am I afraid? I'm not afraid. I'm afraid of the boogeyman, who is the Boogeyman? You figure it out! I'm going back to Waterloo where the vampires hang out! And I'm going to wear my sunglasses at night. You know why? Because women show their tits, have short skirts, and they feel violated when I look at them! Why? Because I have sunglasses on and I'm weird. Uh, I'm from humberside. I'm sorry if I made a fool of humberside. But all those people who called me a sleepwalker, I woke up. now I'm going back to sleep because I'm going to be committed in an isolation room, because I'm going back to the ministry and allow them to perceive me as I am! A fuck up! Goodbye! Hey Toronto the good. Look at the square! It was a shithole when I worked here. Now it looks like New York Manhattan! Where are the bums? There's no bums here. Toronto doesn't have bums. But Waterloo, they're creating bums! They created me. Why? I don't know. Maybe it's the church. Talk to the pope, he knows everything. I had it! I'm gonna die! How can you die, when you're dead. Oh wait a second, I'm going to be crucified, right? I'm not going to raise my voice, because I'm committed to the Lord. I love you.
With the deal there? Do you take a guitar across the pond or lend one Stateside?
Rob ….hybrid picking! Wow, mr speedy pick has found the light more fingers more sounds more licks, wish I could do that
Never knew you could do that…
Thanks Jonathan, I’ve actually been hybrid picking for over 15 years but I’m glad that you like it - thanks for watching dude :-)
I just bought one too. How would you use it though? You said 4 cable method but what about through monitors for home recording? What would sound better at home? Through a amp or monitors?
Honestly man I think it would just sound great any way you set it up
@@RobChappers appreciate the response Rob. I will experiment.
Wouldn't it be cool if Sweetwater sold Chapman guitars? *wink wink nudge nudge*
Jokes aside, Sweetwater is a great company. I get much better customer service from them than i do any other store in the US regardless of the products they sell.
Great tones from the Ruby. It sounds so incredible. I really hope UA puts out a version with a built in poweramp. At any rate, something like the Ruby and an EHX 44 Magnum would be an incredible pedalboard amp platform for classic rock tones.
I hope you guys release a double neck officially
Was that first clip the Ruby? Sounds unreal
Too bad you were sick when you were here in Chi-town. Hopefully you felt good enough to stop by Garrett's to pick up the best popcorn in the world.
Would have been nice to see what amp you where playing through with the ruby.
It was a Blackstar combo!
@@RobChappers Thx!
Is he playing through the Ruby at 3:31? It's just a bit confusing cos at the start he was playing through the Dream. So I'm not sure when he made the switch.
Seriously tempted but what happens when they inevitably turn off sorftware support? What are you left with?
They’re built well, and it’s a closed loop system. They don’t require regular software support.
Didn't realize it was Rob Chapman. Immediately exited.
That UA pedal sounds glorious. Size AF... LIVE IN YOUR EYES!!!
I'm interested in the Ruby, I think all three of these pedals sound good from what I've heard. But the cynic in me....
I've yet to see one reviewer notice that all three of these amp-in-a-box pedals have similar if not identical hardware, and their real differences are from the software loaded into the pedal.
Which means UA could sell an "amp-in-the-box" pedal with one or more of the amp model software, and allow customers to purchase software packs to load the other amp models into their one pedal, albeit one amp model at a time.
It's like buying three different computers to run three different versions of the same software. Who does that? UA, that's who.
The UA money grab will work. If you buy two or more, realize you're paying for extra hardware to get the software model.
Rant over, I'll probably be buying the Ruby. 😁
@Electrus Co wrong again as usual. Don't stop believing. 🤣
They're digital modeling pedals, at least in part. Why else would they have firmware, loadable cabinet/speaker IRs and software editors to load and store presets?
Do you really think the amp models are analog in hardware? 🤣
edit: the software is likely embedded, on an eprom or similar programmable chip - nothing new. If so, they could have made it possible to update/change the software allowing customers to load any of the three pedal software models, one at a time, into any pedal. But doing this would mean customers would only need to buy one pedal, and the additional software models which likely have a lower profit margin.
Source Audio One Series does this. You can buy the OD pedal and replace it and load the fuzz or distortion pedal software, then reload the OD software for example.
Thanks for playing.
I haven't seen UA respond to confirm or deny my statement; guess someone will have to open one up and post the gut shots.
@Electrus Co Only matters if you want two or more of these amp pedals. I plan to get only one.
Is this an amp being played in to an amp?
Shouldn't you turn off the speaker simulation if you're using an actual speaker??
what is the speaker for this pedal in the video?
Have the same question!
HONK!
Came here to “discover the Ruby”, left buying the Dream 65 😂
to min 5 what cab setting use?
Anyone know what amp or frfr rob was using?
Sing the whole Arora song man... can leave it without the Woo Ooo Ooo ooo
Woo ooo ooo ooo 🐺
70% of the world's fresh water is in them lakes.
I have questions…….Did Chad like Cracker Barrel?
It’s a favourite place to eat in the entire planet now
@@RobChappers seriously? That’s awesome!!
Scrappy mate do a proper critique
No. Its not. I already see dozens for sale used. Same w dream.
Meh, I'll keep my Helix
Sounds like a lot of barking and noise. Doesn’t anyone play a real song?
Funny…. I don’t know much about baseball either, another snooze sport like Golf. GUITARS are WAY BETTER LOL
a lot of self-loving blah-blah and noodling, sounds like recorded with the phone(?); where is the information? this video is for people who spend the whole day watching youtube and being happy watching Rob Chapman eating icecream. nothing here is being discovered...
Cool demo. Jesus saves. God bless.
