Should I demo my new amp?
Hell yeah you should.
Rather!
Wasn't that the 11th commandment?
Hell yeah!!!!
🤟😎🍻💯🔥🔥🔥
My ADVICE for anyone buying an amp:
1) Bring your own guitar
2) Bring your pedal board
3) Play it loud
4) Use it the way you would live, don’t fit to it
Hope that helps!
Cheers
Chappers
Good advice Rob, you're looking well mate - hope the family are all good. Did you manage to sell the Coolidge in the end?
@@benmessenger3123 Hi dude, no I still have the Coolidge in storage back in England :-)
Great advice, except most commercial stores in America won't let u due to fear of damage. I always bring my guitar
The pearls the keys to the Lamborghini that is appreciate the advice I always take it to heart
If Rob Scallon brings his own pedal board the store would run out of electric 😂

Oh yes, JCM 800 for the win! I own an early 1982 100w model, all original, and it's an absolute beast of an amp. So versatile and really works with any style of rock music. Congrats!
Those riffs were killer , guitar great , amp great, look forward to some new stuff from you Rob. Have a good week..
Now this is the content I'm here for! You deserve a Marshall bro, they're such wicked amplifiers and the JCM800 especially, what a choice!
Lots of love bro, can't wait to hear that amp live!
Rob great choice the 800 cuts through the mix and in the sweet spot on the master the notes are glassy and has a roar like no other amp add a TS-9 or SD-1 even a " VeryThing " to a clean boost setting and the amp turns into a beast ,hands down the best amp the touch response is amazing too zero latency! Cheers enjoy and show us more videos with your new toy !
Excellent choice! I have a 1976 JMP 2203, which is this amp's grandpa. Absolutely killer and lot more versatile than people give it credit for.
Awesome Rob, good for you man…I know that had to feel good
I own a 2012 Marshall DSL40C. Personally, it has never failed me. When they revamped the line, I didn't like the gain as much. However, my dream amp is still a JCM900.
great video bros! That Chapman is looking an sounding amazing!
Great Amp with a good guitar and 2 good guitarists🙌
It does sounds very well,Rob!
I do have a valvestate 100v model 8100.
It does give a buzz and fweee...
A new lamp will be fix it.
I just love Marshall's ❤️
I figured you would get the jcm800. I would too. To my ears it had that sort of unique glassy Marshall sound which the others didn't seem to have. Cheers! From San Diego!
As soon as I seen the jcm800 I knew Rob was going to pick it out of the few he tried, Rob loves the jcm800 as he has said for years.
Good on you, Chappers. I'm very happy for you. I too would have to play all three to determine which I like the best. I lean towards the Plexi, but until I play one that doesn't mean much. I'd love to own a JTM45.
Congrats and Nice Choice !!!
Funnily enough the first video i saw of yours was Monkey Lord Visits The Marshall Museum from years ago. I still view it once in a while. I have a 'Marshall'. '80s era Lead 12 half stack :)
I used to love slaving this into another amp but after a move, i never even hooked it up.
Looks cool, though ;)
Happy to say, I bought a new JCM 800 in the mid 80s when I’d started learning guitar and just got my first job, in the thick of all those great 80s American hair bands all using modded JCM 800s. Have hung onto it ever since.
Have offloaded the spandex though, could’ve used on my bike, damn…
this was awsome happy for you bro.i have two 120 soledstate marshlls and a orng pro 120 love them all my chapmans sound awsome therw all of them be well n tell good ol luke i say cheers bros
Cool video, I love Marshall amps and I have both the JVM 210h and mini plexi ie.SV20H, both great amps.
Yes! I played a JCM 800 for several years back in the 90s. Could get it to sound like anything, and felt amazing to play.
I bought a mint JVM 410 on eBay and it is one of the best Marshall’s I’ve ever owned.
Welcome to the Marshall family. I have too many, but I love ‘em all.
Good choice! I own one myself, an amazing amp
The first half stack amps I ever had real hands on time with (being primarily a drummer back then) were a Marshall JCM800 and 900.
So that sound is what I've always gravitated towards. Although within the last few years I've also found love for the Vox AC30. Particularly when combined via a "wet/dry" set up with a more gained up Marshall sound. Mostly via experimenting within the digital realm of emulation, but nonetheless I good tone regardless IMO.
Love the new strait pull thru small headstock design on that ML2 Pro Rob! It's amazing what a just few millimeters inward spacing can do for angle break binding at the nut and tuning stability.
Definitely a good call amigo!
The top on that ML2 is absolutely wicked as well.
Cheers!
Outstanding tones 🤘🏿😎
You just made me feel old dude. I remember the last time you played Marshall!
Excellent choice Rob!
Rob I bought that Studio amp head age’s ago after one of your other videos .
But l love my Bugera 1960 head more.Man 👌👍
Missed your playing Rob. Missed seeing you in gigs in London too. Missed Dorje... just missed you lot!
Great video! And amp buying advice.
Lord have mercy! That thing is incredible, suits you sir!!! You need to be a long term custodian of that one
man bro those here in canada are hard to find amps..... your so lucky you found one. grats. the mark 2 that is.
0:34 is like a time machine.
Great choice.
Oh that sounds sweet!
That JCM 800 was special.
Ive been a solid state nut for years but recently picked up a Vox Ac15 combo that quickly became my go to amp for both cleans and gain tones. My buddy has a Marahall dsl40c and side by side, its interesting how the Marshall is geared for more gain and the Vox seems more mellow at similar volume. When cranked, both manage to produce a ton of gain and volume with the edge going to the Dsl for overall gain. However, when pedals enter the situation, the clarity of the Vox lends itself to both modern high gain as well as vintage pushed cleans and crunch. The Marshall seems to just have more balls at any given volume which lends itself to a lot of more aggressive playing.
Yeah dude that Vox RULES..I love it
Exactly! Perfectly said.
I agree, best to have both!
I got a Vox after seeing Chappers amazing eBayed 60w tube for 100gbp
I bought one same model a few years back. There awsome with a gibson les paul. Problem i had is it started buzzing real bad. Changed the tubes still did it.ended up selling it
The guitar is beautiful, specially the headstock
Thanks man, I absolutely love it :-)
The mighty 800 never fails!
We all go down to the classics eventually, the more simple the better.
I think the best choice indeed
Where's your PRS CUSTOM wood library, sure would love to see it featured again ♥️
“I’m getting a Marshy!” Me thinks that’s a great ad campaign, starring you! Go talk to Marshall NOW. Who wouldn’t want to buy a Marshall after hearing you excitedly call it a Marshy?! Best line ever, lol! 😂😂😂
Congrats on the new Marshy!
love those Marshy tones
Great choice, can't argue with a JCM 800 really
If you like JCM800's you should definetly look for a Sovtek Mig100... if you can find one!
They are so responsive and even tho just a single channel amp, it makes the best pedal platform and is more versatile than you'd think!
I have a Landry LS30 being built, which is a 2 ch, hand wired, hot rodded, Marshally, small production volume amp.
The Mars I chose for my hall is the cute little UK made 50th anniversary JCM2000 DSL1 from around 10 years ago
Great video Rob. Just got back from Malta sweating my b@lls off but loved it haha
Great vid dude. I'm always baffled by guitarists descriptions of tone. I understand statements like 'warm' or 'bright'...but what did you mean by 'richness' ??
*1 for the red Yamaha double bass set of drums. 🔥 🤘🏼
Good choice! I thought it sounded the best.
2:01 thought he was gonna break out octopuses garden 😂
omg!!!! the lead series that was frounded upon in the 80's loved that amp head . i traded mine for a peavey first gen 5150 head .... wish i had both now. sigh,,,,,😒
I had an original JCM900 , great amp but for what i do know just to loud.... I sold it before attenuators were a thing... I regret it a bit but anywhos... The Studio series looks good for the price.
Marshall for me will always be the GOAT
I love how Marshalls sound, especially when paired with a Dual Rec or 5150. JCM 800 is all the gain you need and none you don't for so many styles of music.
I’ve never owned a Marshall either, only Fender Vox Blackstar currently just have a Katana Artist and an AC30
There are many amps in the world, and none are better than the JCM 800.
I remember when you was touring with a JCM800 (before you got the Silverback). It's strange how you can go a full circle in life.
The Captain just had a heart attack. The first amp is the Marshall Studio Vintage 20W/5W bedroom baby Plexi amp. You can't play Wembley with that toy. The JCM800 is the big boi, and right down your alley. The JCM800 is the sound of 1980s Metal. I would love to own the Marshall 1987X 50W Plexi vs the 1959X 100W Plexi Tank.
Real Men don't need a Master Volume.
Of course, it is a SIN to buy a Marshall JCM800 in Malta, instead of the UK, Home of British Amp Nirvana. How you will get it home is another story. You should hire a kid to hold the JCM800 like a puppy, so it doesn't bounce around in the car. Hopefully, you can get the JCM800 modded to dial-in your tone with the right tubes.
The Holy Grail Marshall Amps are the Yngwie Malmsteen and Slash AFD Marshalls, that have an attenuator built-in (on the back panel).
Got to be the JCM 800!
Rob, you gotta check out the mini tube again, on your own time, not as part of an Andertons thing. I think its the Marshall for you
this was supposed to be Mini *jube, not tube, as you did recently.
The right choice.
Best amp I ever had and still own, is the Blackstar HT Stage 100. you need a lorry to transport it, but the sound is phenomenal.
I never should have sold mine. Or for that matter the Bugera 1960 Infinium 150 Watt fire breathing monster.
I have a Blackstar ID 260 solid state. I traded in a 4 channel combo amp Marshall for this. It is the truth with a paddle board. Lmmfao 😂🤣 one problem you better have a dolly because you ain't packing it far. Going upstairs becomes weightlifting 😭😂🤣☠️
I have a dsl 20 it’s a great amp only a Marshall will do 😎🎸
Nice!!!
great Amps, but what I hear in this Video is the Amp1 from Bluguitar in my Head that is sooo simular!! check this out....(Mercury or Iridium)
Are profilers already going out of favour or are they only really needed for touring?
Such a powerful sound that you even lost you beard and hair 😁😎💪
Yeah mon!
You chose correctly, Padawan. Best gigging amp ever.
Not gonna lie I was excited for the new ML2 then I saw the design and changed my mind. I stick to my older one.
Drinking coffee makes you hyper, more Norwegian, and less English/British... Whilst tea on the other hand ― is both invigorating, soothing ― and keeps your upper lip nice and stiff... ☕🍪🍪
Yeah, once you plugged into the JCM 800, I knew it was done. LOL
It could very well be the amps, but that ML2 sounds fuckin killer dude
Thanks man, it’s super easy to play - it feels so immediately familiar that I’m using it for almost everything at the moment, also quite surprised at how the Pegasus and sentiment set back off to some lovely bluesy tones.
@@RobChappers had no idea comes loaded with the Pegasus/sentient. Makes sense, some of my favorites. If these are available now, I’ll be grabbing one. 🤘🏻
took me a few minutes before I realized that was Lee in disguise, very funny
🤘
Which JCM800 model did you go for Rob? I’m seriously gassing for 20W studio version.
It's the reissue model JCM800 2203X
Is Sweetwater selling your guitars yet?
it seems like a cool amp.... if it was 1000-1200$ US. unfortunately Its like 1750$ here, which is more than a markV25, rectoverb 25, Friedman runt 20, or revv g20.
Get a second hand Cornell 18/20 for the same price. Handwired goodness.
Any guitar store with do not touch signs on the guitars is one to avoid
Rob, did u use any OD pedal from your pedalboard while playing the 800?
At the end I step on my Very Thing :-)
@@RobChappers your very thing… is what? 🤗
Show de bola
Y'know what goes really well with a JCM800(or any Marshall, can't help it being an electronics nerd, too)?
Fire breathing kickass mods...can't have a Marshall without it being modded, include the ability to switch back to stock if you wish ;D
Nooooo!!! the JCM800 doesn't need any mods. If you want something different buy a different amp!
Nah, I'd just boost with an overdrive or distortion pedal and keep the amp as is. Mods kill the clean tones that a JCM 800 can produce IMO.
Next episode: Let's go buy a Vox. Also, let's get a review of that Ibanez S you guys bought as well.
If the mic was not moved between switching heads then the JVM was clearly the best sounding one.... 🤷♂️
I liked the MK 2
So what were all the amps he tried out?
Nice! Maybe if I when the lottery
Damn, now I miss my 2205 even more.
You just can’t beat an 800!
JCM 800 instant Slash.
never owned a marshall but compare the marshall you owned to the newer version?
Mosta dome
Hey rob check out Tommy folkesson’s marshall mods, he made a brast killer out of my jcm800 :)
Do you still indorse BAD cat amps
So, you owned one 12 years ago, if so which have you previously owned?
It's weird not seeing any of the andertons people
A british Marshall, a mythological being... For most of us:-7
Jcm 800 is the best Amp of all time imo
