Some of the shops in my area are apparently using Turbo bits to install JOPO. Had a ball come into the shop with JOPO outer installed 1/8" too shallow, and the slug I installed for him was cut down 1/8" short of standard depth JOPO because of this, which was only discovered later when I drilled a blank ball for him. Yikes!
We really do need a some kind of a depth gauge that can be twisted into an existing JOPO outer to determine if it was drilled to standard depth.

We have an outer that is cut half way its length to check inner depth. So if a bowler brings a thumb from elsewhere, that’s how we check it. But we need the ‘male’ piece to do that.

How much deeper do these go. I onow switch grip is pretty deep and just wondering how much more core is coming out with these

Its 3.22”, so it goes go deeper. If you check the installation document on the Jopo website that’s where I got the depth number from.

What additional work is necessary to line up the insert correctly on a second ball to ensure an existing thumb insert is directionally correct on subsequent balls? Is there a "true" line on the sleeve?

Yes. At 4:07 you can notice that there is a line on the outer and I line that up with the center line.

can you install it on a ball thats already been drilled does it hurt the the ball?

yes, it can be done. Since the outer sleeve diameter is larger than the slug, we just need to center it and the process is the same ;) hope this helps.

    Hey Mark!
Just had this installed at your shop the other day, but I cant for the life of me get the thumb out (I didn't get the key)
Is there any way to make it "looser"?
    Thanks

You’re going to need to wear out the clips a bit. Basically lock, unlock a bunch of times to loosen up the clips. If you wanna bring it back to us so we can double check.
