    Nice video. I was hoping you'd show how to measure the size of the thumb and then drill out the slug too. It would also be cool to see how to drill an oval thumb slug. I've never used an interchangeable thumb system and I just bought a JoPo setup for my whole arsenal. I'm excited to try it.

    I have never used a plug cutter to shave the sleeve, before I even drill the ball I insert my thumb slug into the sleeve and lock it, I then used a large strait edge nail clipper and clip 1/8 increments around the sleeve (most outer sleeves are of soft vynil) like peeling an orange until the thumb slug is perfectly even with the sleeve. After drilling the thumb hole I would dry insert the sleeve to make sure it aligns with the pitch settings. Yes, I sandpaper and all before setting the sleeve into the ball and this has worked well for me, 66 balls drilled with no plug cutter. Nice video BTW!!

    I love my jopo thumb insert. Very secured and reliable. Highly recommend them. Great video and keep up the good work man!

    My local pro shop just started to get in jopo’s. I have been using vise ever since i started going to them but i will be switching to jopo once they get everything in.

    Have you seen a jopo slug get stuck in one like it was threaded in wrong and what do you do if that was to happen? Unfortunately it happened to one of my balls with the jopo slug and we ended up just pushing it in like a regular slug because it got jammed and couldn’t get it back out. If you could make a video on that, it would be great. I like the jopo and want to do all my equipment with it but am afraid now because of that instance. Fortunately the other ball I got that was drilled like that had an extra I guess it’s the inner one (the one that goes in and locks in place) and could use that on my evoke

    Great video, even though I will never be doing this, as I would probably completely screw that up.
    I have a new ball shipping to me now, and I am hoping my local pro shop can install these on every one of my balls.

    When you use the JoPo drill bit you said go all the way down, does the stopper touch the ball, but do you press or no? Will the stopper dig or leave scratches on the ball cover ?

      When drilling a jopo outer, you want to go all the way and pay very close attention when you’re getting close to the surface. I typically gently shim the surface just to help 100% know I’m where I need to be and there’s barely any noticeable mark. If you press down more and hit the surface, you typically leave a black burn mark but you can easily buff it out. If you go a less less that getting to the top there, you’ll notice inconsistencies in depth. Hope this helps!

    What's the Price Different if any From the IT

      Hey there! I would say shop prices vary by the shop you go to. But I will say my buddy went from IT’s to JoPo and said cost is around the same but will never go back to the IT’s. He had many IT’s break never had one JoPo break in his life. :)

    The bit stopper won't mark the ball when it touches the ball?
    How come in 2 different shops I seen do JOPO here, we can't remove the inner without the tool. They are tight, break you hand trying to get it out. But yours comes out easy ?

      I have heard of this issue at some shops but we never had this issue! This is something maybe to reach out to directly to info@jopogrips.com about! They will do their best to help you and have some of coolest and nicest people in industry!

    I have a ball already drilled with basic thumb slug (not interchangeable; old school). Is it possible to exchange out for a JoPo Grips system? I would love to see a video retrofitting JoPro in a ball already with holes that are already properly spaced.

      You sure can! I can create a video like this soon. There’s a few steps involved but not too difficult. Your local pro shop should be able to help you as well if they carry JoPo products.

    If both the ball hole pitch and the insert pitch are the same, would we not be basically doubling the pitches? Or am I missing something? (I’m not a driller so apologies if I got this wrong but from the math pov it kind of looks like double) great video and thanks.

    • @RealExperienceBallReviews
      @RealExperienceBallReviews  Рік тому +2

      No worries! So, you drill the outer the same pitch and then when you put the inner in, you need to drill that at the same pitch and then use the plug cutter to make the inner flush. You are not doubling the pitch by doing this.
      Now, if we were to drill an outer 1/4 reverse, 0 lateral, and then drill an inner at 1/8 forward, 0 lateral, you would probably cut into the outer. You have some leeway messing with different pitches based on your outer pitch. But, I recommend doing the same pitch for both.

    would you be able to tell me what the specs of that drill press are? I'm looking to start drilling my own equipment.

    • @RealExperienceBallReviews
      @RealExperienceBallReviews  8 місяців тому

      Hey hey! I recently got rid of my press (remodeling my basement shop). I don’t have the exact specs, but if you wanna start drilling your own try checking Facebook marketplace for tabletop presses. Be sure tho that your base is VERY stable. Don’t want the press to wobble and cause inconsistencies!

    If I have vise could I switch it to jopo or would that be to hard for the pro shop to do

    • @RealExperienceBallReviews
      @RealExperienceBallReviews  8 місяців тому

      Easy to do! All they would do is plug up those holes and re drill into it with a JoPo outer. I’ve had a few friends do this and they had zero issues. Obviously, have to make sure it’s not quick plug and it’s hardened nice. Your pso should know what to do ;)

    What happens if the thumb gets tight to get in or out of

      JoPo makes a tool that helps get the thumb slug out of the ball! You’ll find this on their website. Link is in the description 🙂

      Bowling balls expand and contract this may cause the sleeve to shrink or swell, try sanding the thumb slug to make it fit
