    Thank you for this! I'm DEFINITELY at a place where I feel like I need them. Got 3 different balls, and the tiny differences in the thumb hole just makes me crazy. Hard to make a decision, lol.

    Another thing I like about switchable thumbs is that my thumb swells while I bowl (more in summer than winter) and I can't get it out of the ball. Instead of playing with tape, I can switch out the thumb and still have a thumb that's drilled for me and be able to move it ball to ball.

    When I lived in Illinois, the Cherry Vale mall area always had a lot of traffic. Watching the PWBA event there last year brought back a ton of memories.

    I had both Vise IT and Turbo and broke several thumbs with both and both felt somewhat loose feeling. Out of frustration I had my PSO order some JoPo thumb system and absolutely love them. They are robust with a solid feel. Only drawback for me, is I have to use a removal tool to change inserts as the click is so pronounced it is very difficult to remove with only my thumb. But they are solid and highly doubt these will break.

    I’ve used 3 of the 4. This is my personal experience
    IT: never used.
    Turbo: decent system. Used this the longest, but the tabs in the bottom are prone to wearing out or breaking over time, which is what causes them to stop locking in. This is what made me switch away from this system.
    Ultimate: uses a locking system on the side. I like this idea better than turbo as it is less prone to failure. The slugs felt less secure and would actually slide up and down by a couple millimeters while in multiple balls. Not sure if this is the tolerances in the moulds, but I did not keep this system long as I did not like the feel. It just felt cheap to me.
    Jopo: hands down the best system I have used. Uses a threaded system with 3 locking tabs in the bottom. The threaded system will hold the pressure of throwing the ball a lot better as it is much more surface area. The locking tabs are more sturdy than turbo. It is so secure that it feels just like having a standard slug in the ball, which i never had in the other two systems. I see no reason to even glance at any other system after trying this

      Regarding those Turbo tabs wearing away, are you talking about the bottom of the rail in the outer sleeve or the little plastic pieces that stick out of the bottom of the inner/thumb sleeve? I'm assuming you mean the inner sleeve. Those little things don't inspire a world of confidence, but at least getting a new inner and thumb made is much easier and cheaper than drilling out the outer and replacing the whole system.
      About how often did you have them break? Thanks in advance.

      @@matthewstoker224 If I remember correctly, I have had one tab on the inner break off, and have seen it with at least one other person. Over time, they wear down and become more prone to the little tabs getting weak and either wearing down completely or breaking off. The outers have all remained fine.
      Don’t get me wrong; turbo is a good system. Like you said, you can always just drill a new inner and the problem is solved. I would never tell everyone they need to switch to JoPo because it is the only good system. If someone is looking for a new system I dang sure am telling everyone about it though lol

      @@jacobwhite7845 Thanks for the heads up. I know many people will put a piece of tape on the side of the inners to tighten them up if they become loose too. If the drillers in my area start offering JoPo I'll definitely be giving it a shot next time around.

    Ive been using the Jopo and I really like it. the black color comes off on my finger some times idk if that's a defect or if other people have that issue. i'll have pro shop sand it again next time I see him.

    I use the Universal and on 3 or four occasions the thumb slug has slipped out far enough to make impossible to release the ball. Does this also occur with other inserts? In that particular ball I put so much glue in it that it is now a permanent thumb. Back to using tape.

      Do you throw multiple balls? Do you bowl any spring or summer leagues? I like being able to switch the thumb when mine swells instead of playing with tape.

    • @brianmizway9324
      @brianmizway9324 Рік тому +1

      @Nevin Kinzel hmmm. Interesting. Never thought about it like that. If my thumb is slippery I just use some rosin, or if it swells I use baby powder to help make it slide out easier. Never thought of it this way. So do you use different size thumb inserts then for this? Yes I always bowl with atleast 2 balls. Going to get a couple more soon.

    • @nevinkinzel
      @nevinkinzel Рік тому +1

      @@brianmizway9324 Yeah, I have two inserts. One is my normal thumb size and one is my swelled size. My thumb doesn't swell enough in the winter to matter, but since it has been warming up again I really notice it. Even baby powder or "shrinking" my thumb by wrapping it with a napkin and putting it in the ball doesn't work for me. So, I switch out the insert for the larger size and I don't have to worry about it.
