  • What does the Bible say about the offices of Apostle and Prophet in the Church today? Are there new Apostles and Prophets? Should we listen to those who claim be an Apostle or Prophet, or should we write them off as false apostles and false prophets? Lastly, does the Lord offer us a new prophetic word for the church today? In this video, Pastor Nelson with Bible Munch answers the question, “Is God restoring the offices of apostle and prophet in the church today?”.

@@Brenda-qo4ko Here in Nigeria, people believe God speaks through priests, prophets and apostles not necessarily through the Bible. Virtually every Christian denomination indoctrinated its followers into not relying entirely on the Bible but more on men of God and their revelations. I was born into a Catholic family somehow we where raised not to rely entirely on everything we read in the Bible especially when it opposes the teachings of the church and that opens the door to manything considered ungodly by the bible. The Roman Catholic controlled about 55% of all Christians in Nigeria. Pastors apostles and prophets has to agree completely with the catholic doctrines in order to gain and retain followers or "customers" because it is all about the offerings and tithes. Repentance is never preached with seriousness since purgatory can wash your sins.

Very good video. Well put together. It is very easy in today's world to be misguided and lead astray by false teachers and teaching. Most Christians today are dependent upon their Pastors to teach them every single thing in the Bible. We don't find time to study and hide His word in our hearts and thus the reason why we are easily led astray. If we as a Church fail to revisit the foundation of Jesus Christ and the principles on which it was laid then we will definitely be lost.

If the ministry of the apostle has ceased, that means the ministry of bishops, elders, and deacons have ceased as well. Apostles were the only ministry with ordination authority over bishops, elders, and deacons. Ordination authority was never delegated to any other office or ministry. Since there are no apostles according to what your saying, that means anyone that is ordaining bishops, elders, and deacons today is claiming to be an apostle through their actions.

1 Timothy 3 goes over qualifications of a “bishop” and “deacons” in KJV. It uses “if” as in the office is still applicable today. Bishop is technically an overseer of the chruch so there’s obviously positions under it (evangelist, preachers, teachers) Deacons are essentially servants of the church.

The Restoration of the Fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ
A Bicentennial Proclamation to the World
The First Presidency and Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
This proclamation was read by the Prophet, Seer, Revelator and Church President Russell M. Nelson as part of his message at the 190th Annual General Conference, April 5, 2020, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
We solemnly proclaim that God loves His children in every nation of the world. God the Father has given us the divine birth, the incomparable life, and the infinite atoning sacrifice of His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. By the power of the Father, Jesus rose again and gained the victory over death. He is our Savior, our Exemplar, and our Redeemer. Two hundred years ago, on a beautiful spring morning in 1820, young Joseph Smith, seeking to know which church to join, went into the woods to pray near his home in upstate New York, USA. He had questions regarding the salvation of his soul and trusted that God would direct him. In humility, we declare that in answer to his prayer, God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, appeared to Joseph and inaugurated the “restitution of all things” (Acts 3:21) as foretold in the Bible. In this vision, he learned that following the death of the original Apostles, Christ’s New Testament Church was lost from the earth. Joseph would be instrumental in its return. We affirm that under the direction of the Father and the Son, heavenly messengers came to instruct Joseph and re-establish the Church of Jesus Christ. The resurrected John the Baptist restored the authority to baptize by immersion for the remission of sins. Three of the original twelve Apostles-Peter, James, and John-restored the apostleship and keys of priesthood authority. Others came as well, including Elijah, who restored the authority to join families together forever in eternal relationships that transcend death. We further witness that Joseph Smith was given the gift and power of God to translate an ancient record: the Book of Mormon-Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Pages of this sacred text include an account of the personal ministry of Jesus Christ among people in the Western Hemisphere soon after His Resurrection. It teaches of life’s purpose and explains the doctrine of Christ, which is central to that purpose. As a companion scripture to the Bible, the Book of Mormon testifies that all human beings are sons and daughters of a loving Father in Heaven, that He has a divine plan for our lives, and that His Son, Jesus Christ, speaks today as well as in days of old. We declare that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, organized on April 6, 1830, is Christ’s New Testament Church restored. This Church is anchored in the perfect life of its chief cornerstone, Jesus Christ, and in His infinite Atonement and literal Resurrection. Jesus Christ has once again called Apostles and has given them priesthood authority. He invites all of us to come unto Him and His Church, to receive the Holy Ghost, the ordinances of salvation, and to gain enduring joy. Two hundred years have now elapsed since this Restoration was initiated by God the Father and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Millions throughout the world have embraced a knowledge of these prophesied events. We gladly declare that the promised Restoration goes forward through continuing revelation. The earth will never again be the same, as God will “gather together in one all things in Christ” (Ephesians 1:10). With reverence and gratitude, we as His Apostles invite all to know-as we do-that the heavens are open. We affirm that God is making known His will for His beloved sons and daughters. We testify that those who prayerfully study the message of the Restoration and act in faith will be blessed to gain their own witness of its divinity and of its purpose to prepare the world for the promised Second Coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Hello, allow me to disagree with you on your claim and this particular video.
Before I say though one thing I do agree is people today in our society abuse the office of apostles and prophets.
    1. You have biblically proof that apostoles and prophets ministry or gift has seized.
    2. God's word says that in last days my sons and daughters will prophecy. How can you prophesy if the gift is seized.
    3. Holy Spirit manifest in us and sometimes He prophecies to us or through us.
I belive we still function in all 5 gifts the problem is many people interpret scripture to their religion and to their culture and most dangerous one to their own understanding.

@Alex, Acts 2:16-17, does speak of sons and daughters will prophesy in the last days. This means God’s people can hear from God themselves. We now have the Bible to give us instructions. They did not have that as the church was being built. You and I can go to God in prayer for ourselves, and if we pay close attention, God will reveal things to us.

When ever you look into something make sure you learn what they teach not just what you heard other people say about them. Prophets don’t teach everything they say is true. They teach to test the word spoken by God spirit/word. Just from not understanding this basic model you prove you don’t understand prophecy because that’s what it is. Prophecy is built upon the testing of the spirit

Very sad that professing Christians would teach people today that the Church offices and gifts have ceased to exist since the founding.
There is NO SUCH teaching in Scripture. No where does it say in Scripture that the office of Apostle ceased to exist after the 12. The fact that this teacher lists from Scripture various Apostles AFTER the 12 suggests that the office CONTINUED after the 12!
Also, the Greek word for Apostle in Scripture makes NO differentiation between the 12 apostles and future apostles. They are all defined by the SAME Greek word.
    1) In Mt 10: 2 we read of the original 12 apostles, "Now the names of the twelve APOSTLES are these..."
    2) In 1Co 12: 28 we read, "And God has appointed these in the church: first APOSTLES, second prophets, third teachers, next miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, leading, various kinds of tongues" (CSB)
    3) In Act 14: 14 we read, "The APOSTLES Barnabas and Paul tore their robes..."
Here we can clearly see that Scripture makes no differentiation between the original 12 apostles with future apostles. They all use the same Greek word (G652) APOSTOLOS. According to Strong's Concordance, it means "apostle," "messenger," "he that is sent."
It makes no sense that the structure of the Church should -- for all time till Christ's return -- be denied the office of present-day Apostles, or even present-day gifts of miracles.
I would submit that those needing a miracle healing in their lives should not ask this group for prayer, as they don't believe the Lord does that anymore.
No apostles, no prophets, no miracles -- such is the state of a powerless Church.
    Very, very sad.

    • @PhoenieFroe313
      @PhoenieFroe313 9 місяців тому +2

The church wouldn't be powerless though; the Holy Spirit was sent to us after Jesus was raised to Heaven after His resurrection... every Christian has the ability to have the gifts of the Holy Spirit - if God wills it and gives grace to.
There would be no reason to have Apostles and Prophets anymore; we all have access to the Word of God, we all can prophesy and heal etc.
The Apostles & Prophets were the foundation of the church, the saints are now on top - esp. us who have access to the Holy Spirit.
Jesus is the last and final Prophet; He as the last to bring forth the will and message of God (Abba) - no one else needs to come with any new revelation, it's all spelled out for us in the Scriptures.
It's imperative to test the spirit and the fruits of these people who give themselves self-appointed titles >> are they walking with the Spirit or are they preaching a message from their own lips?

    • @MediaMantle3news2morrow
      @MediaMantle3news2morrow 9 місяців тому +1

      @@PhoenieFroe313 That's an interesting perspective but I don't think it's a biblical one.
You say, "There would be no reason to have Apostles and Prophets anymore; we all have access to the Word of God, we all can prophesy and heal etc."
That can't be true because the moment the Holy Spirit was given on Pentecost the Church was formed WITH the Apostles & Prophets.
If, as you say, we don't need them because we are all given the Holy Spirit, then why did God give us these offices when the Holy Spirit was already given to the saints?
Even AFTER Pentecost, God was STILL adding Apostles (Paul, for instance) & Prophets (Acts 11: 27, 13: 1) to the Church.
Plus, this is Paul's official statement on this issue.
Paul says that God gave the Church "gifts" (and gave gifts unto men Eph 4: 8 KJV).
Those gifts are "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers" Eph 4: 11 KJV
And WHY DID GOD GIVE US THESE GIFTS?
"For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ" Eph 4: 12 KJV
Therefore, these offices are necessary for the perfecting and edifying of the saints -- even though they have the Holy Spirit within them.
      Hope that helps.

First off, you would. One across as less condescending if you started this video by stating you will answer this question from your personal perspective rather than a biblical😮 perspective. It is clear from the comments that many have a differing biblical perspective, or i will say interpretation of the same biblical text.
Question…was it intentional to leave out verses 13 and 14 of Ephesians chapter 4? Paul teaches that all the offices mentioned in the verse previous would be a necessary part of the church…”Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ”. It is clear this kind of unity does not exist in the earth or Church. Therefore it is clear prophets and apostles are still greatly needed. With them , “we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.”
