NO!!! ALL ORIGINAL 1957 Ford T Bird DESTROYED?? Or, Can We Save It?

- Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching. Today, we have the opportunity to either save or destroy in irreplaceable piece of history!!! We are originally called to unload a 1957 Ford Thunderbird, T-bird, to some,, off of a flatbed trailer. While interesting because it was a 1957 T-bird, the call was fairly common, to use our rollback to unload a vehicle off a flatbed trailer and set it on the ground or in a garage. We do it frequently. However, as many calls do, this turned out to be more than the simple task we first thought. Upon our arrival we find a completely different situation. This all original, one owner, T-Bird with the original window sticker and owner's manual, has been driven off into the open center of a specialty car hauling trailer!!! Now, this is a TOTALLY different job from what we were originally called for, but adapt and overcome, as they say. Are we up to the task of saving this historical car from irreparable damage??? Let's hope so.....

My common analogy, "there are many ways to reach 10". I could have approached this (any) job several different ways. The approach method is important, but more important is achieving the desired result, safely.
Again, a very special thank you to all my viewers, family, and friends who having taken the time to show their support. May God bless and protect you all!!!

It's always amazing to me how these experts are telling Ron what he should do when they were the ones who screwed things up in the first place.
Exactly, and the wrong type of car hauler for the job in the first place.
Exactly!! They F it up but then have all the answers. So they coudnt even back a car off a trailer wider than the car but they now know how to get it off lmao. Apparently with said car being in the position it is tells me they DO NOT know how to get it off the trailer so they need to step back and zip it.
Exactly!
Lol good one....
Looks like the tv show 77 Sunset strip car that Ephraim Zimbalis Jr drove Ed Burnes was his helper this is later 50 s car
With so many of your jobs dealing with a tragedy, it is certainly refreshing to have a job like this one, just helping someone with a tricky unload of such a classic car. I would love to see a follow-up when that car gets fully restored. Stay safe and healthy.
Thanks, I have at&t and it is about as good as dialup (yet not as reliable) so I can't see the video and will have to watch it later, maybe way later. Thanks for letting me know how it went. With Ron I would have figured success anyhow, but you proved it.
It could have been a tragedy. Fortunately, the car came out unharmed!
Yes sir we’ve seen Ron do just about every highway situation out there.
It’s nice to see him do more unusual stuff too
I have to admire your patience. That older guy in the background constantly trying to override your instructions drove me nuts. Other than that - great video.
I agree, only one boss on the job site. Tell him once nicely, unhook and leave if it keeps up.
@@Rags722 So, so right. One director at a time. Send him for coffee or something.
Ron is super good natured and polite, but sometimes it pays to take charge.
Never did hear who screwed up and drove/pushed the car off the ramps. The transport driver?
Amazing that the brakes were working enough to help the process.
Agree, lol like John said send him to get donuts and coffee haha
At the start (sat in the seat), I would have asked to know who's giving instructions and only if it's leading to a dangerous situation should others speak up.
"Touchdown" and the crowd goes wild.
lol , to me the older guy clearly F**ked up , but his ego thought he was still in charge
Not the trailer I'd have chosen to haul that vehicle. Well done, Ron, maintaining the voice of reason with all those other folks hollering out instructions. Great video.
Probably hauled it on the cheap and they had no idea what it looked like before it arrived.
How on earth did Ron keep his patience with the other guy telling him what to do. I thought I could be patient but I would have loaded up and gone home leaving him to sort it himself as he obviously is way more experienced than Ron
My thought completely.
Yep, you'd think after getting it stuck in the first place, he'd back down, but oh no... pffft. You da man, Ron!
Indeed! 😁
Yep definitely a case of too many chiefs. Rule 1 of any lifting operation, there is only 1 lift master. Others are just meant to feed information to the lift master who then in turns gives the commands to the relevant operator.
Yeah, I wouldn't have been as nice about it.
Way too many cooks making the coffee.
Was the older man in the blue shirt the trucker that screwed up ? One person should have been talking. I was in the auto transport business for 36 years and you need one person controlling the situation and that should have been you.
Great job as always 👏 👍 👌 🙌 😀
Kudos to you Ron. I wouldn’t be able to hold my cool with so many voices in the mix. Good jod
Your patience and positive attitude despite the constant yammering of one person and the lack of understanding by another is nothing short of amazing. You can be very proud of your guys and the job you accomplished. Well done my friend...well done.
Ron you have more patience than I would have had with that truck driver. You should be the only one telling the young man in the car which way to turn the wheel and when to use the brakes. I’m sure you know that and obviously that truck driver doesn’t. As always Ron a wonderful video.
It's the truck driver's responsibility to unload the car until the car hits the ground. No one else should be saying anything except the truck driver. Sorry Ron but it's the truth.
I have seen that on more than a few jobs . Even after setting a plan in the beginning .
I couldn't of said it any better my self. Maybe some duct tape might have helped.
I agree with Herb and others. True it was the truck driver's load, but also true you were specifically hired to remove the load from the flatbed with the load sustaining no or as little unavoidable damage as possible. The truck driver was a clear hinderance to your task. Perhaps the operation should have been halted for the purpose of striking an agreement that one person and one person only directs the offloading. Absent such an agreement, drive on to the next job. Harsh yes but safe for you and your company in my view.
@@carsonlambert4074 It was the truck driver's responsibility untell he hired Ron, then the responsibility went to Ron.
Ron you are so kind with people telling you how to do your Business. God Bless you for yourPatience
As a car buff, that's my favorite of favorites!! THANK YOU 😊 Ya'll brought sanity to an insane situation. Wrong trailer, Wrong cables, and a driver with too many opinions! So, once again, your professionalism shined through! Again, thank you, God bless you and your team!
It is great to see the Rotator picking something up that was not the victim of carnage. That T-bird is a real gem.
Beautiful car, great job Ron! As a retired NCO having a second person wanting to be in charge, after hiring an expert, was nearly unbearable. That could be why the thing ended up all cattywompous in the first place. Ron is OBVIOUSLY way more patient than I!
Man I drive a light duty wrecker and flatbed, done plenty of recoveries, still have lots to learn though, regardless I so much agree with your statement…. That other guy was killing me, I mean I get it I give him some respect being it’s his trailer and the car was on it and it’s his responsibility but once I (or really Ron in this case) hook onto the car, it’s now MY (or Ron’s) responsibility. Ron has the patience of a saint. I woulda told the dude politely to let me do the job they hired me for, long before Ron Never did…. Midwest truck had 3 very experienced towing/recovery operators there, easily capable of handling the observation part by themselves. Although I’m sure Ron would say an extra set of eyes don’t hurt.
Too Many cooks spoil the stew! I don't know how Ron kept His thoughts straight!? With that guy rattlin off CONSTANTLY!
I had to stop watching due to 2-3 people telling the poor kid what to do. It just makes a intense situation 10x worse.
Go set in the truck DRIVER!
Aside from a STOP!, there should be only 1 person giving commands! If I had been Ron, or the Driver in the car that would have been ticked off.
A lot of chiefs there…….how do you keep you focus with so many people giving input……and manage to stay respectful…..well done, as always.
omg! i bought one like that from a junk yard and redid it. it was the green/gold color. the allison brothers did the motor so it ran like a scalded dog! p.s. i'm an old lady who loves cars! just sold my last baby blue t-bird convertible that also had the hard top.
Only one person should be giving directions. ONLY one!
The guy in the blue shirt was a real distraction, almost a pain in the ass
Agree! Everyone not on Ron's payroll should have been sent to get donuts and coffee... two counties away. :)
Hats off to driver. I’d lose my rag, too many cooks
I think the guy in blue was the driver. He seemed like he was in a hurry to get loose and gone. Not realizing he was slowing things down.
I could feel Ron holding back from telling them to hush
Super job Ron. I admire your patience with the client constantly cutting in.
As ever Ron is the most level headed patient and polite person there. Takes instruction, takes suggestions but uses the best method.
I’ve been directed by two different people while moving a car. In the end I shut it off until one of them left.
Looking real close, looks like that old bird had more than a fair share of prior body work. Hope that shop is up to doing a real restoration. The problem with barn finds is they were usually put in the barn for a reason, either because the owner knew it would go up in value or because it was more trouble than it was worth. My uncle had a 54 or 55 that fit into the second category. He parked it in the back yard with a tarp over it. I always wanted to buy the car as a teen but he always said it was not for sale. When I got out of the Air Force I went to my grandmother's house fully planning on purchasing the car. It was gone!! Turns out while my uncle was away on a vacation, a scrap car guy knocked on the door and offered to haul away the old car (under the tarp) in the back yard for her. At that point it had been sitting for at least 8 years. He only charged her a few bucks to haul it away. Bet he was laughing the entire time.
It's funny he charged her anything. He could have just offered to take it away for free knowing how valuable it was. Lol.
Agreed that T Bird is real wavey
@@chris76-01 The thing with it in the back yard is how much of the frame and body has rusted away!
Sadly the most likely story is that the scrapper could have cared less what kind of car it was bc it was going straight to the crusher so the scrapper could continue to screw people and prob get high while hes at it
I was thinking i see enough bondo in that to support that company for a year
Why would anybody ever use an open space trailer to move a car like that?
It is small and has a very small wheel to wheel distance. I do not understand.
You and your team did a great job.
Probably, the decision was based on cost…Enclosed auto transport vs open trailer.
@@rileypup5959 penny wise ,dollar foolish!
@@randallcarney1216 Imagine the bill for all that time and two trucks!
@@rileypup5959 They would have done better with a U-Haul car trailer.
Also, many car carriers are like this, just double decked, but they are made for this kind of work to begin with.
A pleasure to witness Ethan maturing.
Great job all, from Oz,
difficulties (like too many chefs in the kitchen) make us.
The Master of Recovery, doing what he does best and because of the subject, enjoying every second of it. Lucky guy Ron.
Greetings from a sweltering UK.
Nice job, So many people using their voice. Seen on 8/12/22 at 3:03 PM. (In the NL)
My very first thought was wide straps, completely underneath the car from front to back, or side to side. But, it wasn't necessary... Excellent work, but too many chiefs... but understandable considering the car's value.
Too many chiefs not enough indians! Lol
Ron, you have the patience of a saint. I was sitting here telling the customer to get back and stop helping.
“Too many cooks spoil the soup!”
I salute you 💕💫
I always appreciate the care you take in not doing damage or any further damage to the vehicles you recover. This all comes from you looking before you leap and having a plan. It is always good when the job is finished and everyone goes home safely to their families.
Ron is a clever old fashioned knowledgable recovery expert, who does what people now days don't do, he looks at the whole problem and how to solve it as a professional to his and the customers satisfaction. Sometimes it takes a little longer but gets the job done safely and without damage.
I was 17 when this little beauty came out!! We all thought it was awesome!!
My dad would have been about 6 when this came out, my mom hadn't even been born.
I think I was about 10 when I first saw one of these little beauties. It belonged to my friend’s aunt and every day I checked to see if that gorgeous was visiting. I barely remember the car’s owner.
Yes, Ron isn't afraid to think outside the box.
@@justinebuckleywright1302 my uncle currently has one, he is the second owner having inhearited it from his sister.
The 2 seat T-Bird was one of the coolest model Ford made. In 58 they screwed up big time and went downhill from there.
Good job. I can’t believe they shipped that car on an open trailer. Seems like they cheaped out on that. Should have been in a single car enclosed trailer.
Ron, great job in unloading a piece of history. I'm 77 years old, so I remember those old T-Birds. . I'm just speechless. Wonderful job, with no scratches!
That was a beautiful car and how you took so much care in making sure that you did not hurt it shows how professional you are another great lift and fantastic video
Beautiful T-Bird I'd love to see it when it's done getting restored
That rotator is a guys ultimate toy, hands down!!
Oh this made my heart ache! The Thunderbird has ALWAYS been my mist favorite vehicle by far. I bought a 1996 brand new and truly adored her 25 wonderful years and over 250,000 miles. But my baby which I still own today for 25 years a 1966 Thunderbird convertible. Thank you Ron for saving this beautiful old girl.🙏💜
Well done as always! .... Once again, you anylized the situation, planned your work, then worked your plan. Well thought out and executed, with absolutely no damage! Btw, I hadn't seen Ethan in a while ..... He's grown into a man! Thnx for the video! Blessings to all!
Too many chiefs! Glad to see it safely in the garage.
You had more self control than I might have with that truck driver giving the man in the T-Bird instructions on what to do. You would tell the guy to turn one way and the truck driver telling him to turn the other way. I might have had to stop the whole process and have a talk about who is in charge and who is doing what.
That sort of thing is where you need more Indians than chiefs.
What a beautiful car. And it is great to see just how professional you and your crew are in handling the task of getting it back on to the trailer and removing it off the trailer. Hope you and your family and crew have a great day. May God bless everyone and stay safe out there
What a Job Ron, wow!!
Ron showed patience and control. That is why this is a good channel.
I respect that you don't like to step on your customers toes etc, but sometimes it's ok to tell them that you're the one doing the job, so to listen to your instructions only. glad it all went to plan in the end. is interesting to see a classic car from your side of the pond
You enjoyed this one way to much. I had my regular tow guy come with rollback to move a 49 Lincoln into the shop he charged me for the 20 minutes it took then spent hour talking antique cars. Pleasant day for both of us.
using fork lifts at auto auctions often causes much damage
If a car is at a salvage auction, it's just damage on top of what the vehicle already had 😉 At a salvage auction, they are more concerned about quickly moving the auction items around than doing further damage. At a dealer auction, if it doesn't start with a jump pack, it's getting forked. At Meacham, it would be a "roller", meaning that the floor crew would be pushing it across the auction floor.
Wow!!! Saving a piece of automotive History!! Detroit Loves you guys!! G
Awesome!! I was glued to the screen--my dumpster cleaning work went on hold, I had to see this thru.. I have to let my mom know to watch this, she always loved T-Birds. It sure is a beautiful car. I love seeing the different jobs when you have them. I also love seeing the scenery when you drive too, I don't get to travel much anymore so that is my road trips. Thanks for the many different sights and jobs you keep me entertained with and they are all so enjoyable. I love the snow videos although I realize the are not the best and the safest for you and your crew. I appreciate the dedication all of you have for your work, keep it up and keep the videos coming for this 71 year old lady!! 😎😎🚓🚓⛑⛑
Good to see you again buddy good luck see you in the next one
I'm a Ford person and that's one beautiful car loved the way you took care of it well done 👍 Stay safe and blessed 🙏❤️
LOL - Too many cooks! You had MORE patience than I think I would have had with that older guy.
Enjoyed watching this one and would love, love, love to see a follow-up on the final restoration. I have a 40 Ford Coupe about 95% finished.
OOHH I would LOVE to see HOW IT TURNS OUT TOO! I'm a car girl!
Good morning 🌞 , sir .Yes you can save it of car.... You and your son ,Ethan and Mike still very good jobs... I am happy for you... I am clapping to you and your crews....
Who was the genius that put the car on that type of trailer. Apparently they weren’t thinking very clear. At least they had the common sense to call you. Great job.
Mr. Platt, you have way more patience than I do. I cannot stand those customers who get their car stuck try and tell you how to do your job. That's the number one thing I respect about you is your level of patience. I know myself would've had his feelings hurt.
Thank you for being so careful with that precious cargo. I am the owner of a 1967 Ford Fairlane that has been in the family since new. I have all the original paperwork and books. It has 35, 631 miles on it as of today. I would be much more nervous than those guys were. Thank you for showing us some of the other jobs you do. Stay safe and God bless.
Great job Ron and crew. But that old rusty trailer looks like a disaster ready to happen.
Ron in those cars days the tow trucks had the big solid piece of metal on the back of the truck to tow them I don’t think the strap your using will hurt this old iron at all!!!! But I’m sure you probably remember those days I certainly do at the age of 16 I was towing cars with that old system of towing!!!! Good memories!!!!
That is when they made cars that last! Nice looking 57 T-Bird! Good job Ron, Mike and Ethan!
What was a wonderful job saving that beautiful 1957 T-Bird!!!!
The green and white square body in the shop looks awfully familiar 🌴👍👍😎🌴
Good Morning My Good Bro Ron Pratt Sir God Bless You All Of You're Whole Family This Morning & I Am Still Praying For You & You're Whole Family & All Of You're Whole Staff
Wonderful job on the T-Bird. Thanks for letting us watch !!! You are certainly a very patient man, Ron !!!
Bumpers that can support weight of the car using a "bumper jack" to change tires kind of disappeared in the late 60s early 70s.
yeah.... aint it a shame?
for cars anyway
But then there’s been 70 years of wear on those bumper irons since then. Be a shame to tear the bumper off the chassis and cause a lot more damage. Broken glass, knocking all that Bondo out.
Ron, I love the work you do and how you do it. Safety first attention to detail and I must add helping to preserve history. You and your team get an A+. I got to drive one of those T-Birds for a day back in 61. Memories memories.
sooo GLAD they called YOU to help😊
I think that hydraulic trolley jacks or bottle jacks are so underated ,and blocks of wood and flat board ,but you were close I suppose?
Ron did I hear you say"that's a cheap cable ? 😎😎😎😎, don't normally associate you and cheap 😃😃
Too many people giving instructions at the end ,and I was saying "shut that door !and where's the emergency block of wood if it ran away 😊
One non-decision I have regretted was NOT buying the Azure T'bird offered to me in the early '70s. It was a '57 or '58 hard top convertible. A widow lady I worked with showed me her late husband's car and asked me if I wanted to buy it, being young and not knowing US cars I turned her down!!!
Really nice and safe recovery, well done Ron.
WOW!!!! This one had my heart racing fast!!! You all do an AWESOME job. Thank's for sharing Ron. God bless you all.
WOW! I remember seeing my first T-Bird as a kid. It was great watching you being so patient with those who didn’t know as much about handling cars as you do. Also great seeing Ethan again!
Great job, just WAY too many people barking orders.
Ron (if I may), your ingenuity and practicality, not mention your humour and humanity, entertained me during the worst of the pandemic.
Thanks for hours of fun.
I keep viewing.
Take it steady.
Rod
WOW, a two for one, two videos for one week! Ronny, your spoiling me!
Ron. You are a credit to your dad, rest his soul. You are a very meticulous thinking which transfers to your work. It's such a pleasure to watch you and your team. Gob bless and stay safe. Maybe Virgil Tracy could have helped. :)
It is so nice to see 2 Pratt guys on the job again.
the one thing i love about the way you work is you stop and take a good look at the ways to tackle the problem and fully open to suggestions, rather than showing up and immediately being set on a way to solve it that could damage property. great work!!!
If the Lil Pete was a rotator, it would have been a perfect job for this. Great job unloading the car.
Wow look at that truck in the shop, stunning
Glad that car didn’t get damaged. Great job!
That was a great job by you and the crew. Nice to see another old car get saved. Just loved it.
sorry it looked like to me there were way to many chiefs.l have watch so many of your videos you are so professional at your job keep up the great videos.take care may GOD bless you and all your Loved ones. STAY SAFE above all.
I used to have this Matchbox with Burgundy paint. They are most certainly beautiful cars. That headlight is a crying shame, but it's gorgeous anyway. I'd love to see the restoration. Great job everybody! I bounced my chin off the coffee table a couple of times trying to see the front right wheel and held my breath the last half of the video. I actually got a chill on the exhale when she hit the floor. LOL Thanks for the invigorating video & stay safe out there!
A friend's son, Anthony Schmidt should like thís.
Alex also is loving this as well.
Ron, as a Ford guy I have to say those old Tbirds are body on frame construction with pretty thick steel. You'd have no problems picking them up with frame hooks with a pad between it and the bumper.. And as a body/paint guy, I'd say that thing was resprayed once a long time ago, it wouldn't be that nice unless it was kept inside in a climate controlled room if it was original. If it was 100% original, running the value would be ~$200-300k depending on options.. with an auto probably the lower end (people want a manual) with a respray but otherwise original and numbers matching.. $80-120k max at auction on a good day.
What would a '57 bring with almost perfect original body panels. I say almost perfect because it's been inside( on concrete floor) since 1965 and has not been driven since. 312 V8 manual trans. It was painted at least twice when it was on the road. Never driven in the winter. Around 50,000 original miles.
U mean re-bondoed
Had my rear end drawing up a couple of times. Man, what a beautiful car!!! Good job!! Stay safe and God bless!!
I can’t believe Ethan is that old already it seems like yesterday that you took him to a fishing hole and now he’s a grown man already!!! I’m feeling a little old remembering those days and that is how long I’ve been watching this amazing content!!! Time certainly does fly when we are having fun watching you doing these videos!!! Hey to the whole crew in the shop and I’ll see you in the next video!!!!
Awesome job. Beautiful old T-bird.
I noticed the new hooks and wire rope, and guides, works really smooth , like picking up a basket of eggs, You got it going,Thumbs up
Having worked with guys like the older man here, I have nothing but mad respect for you Ron. I’m not wanting to attack the guy, but my goodness, that must have been nerve racking to have someone giving a bunch of unnecessary commands.
Thanks Ron for sharing this video. The Thunderbird is a big piece of history and to find one in original condition is like finding gold. I throughly enjoyed this video. May God bless everyone. ❤🇨🇦
I would have told old mate to take a hike. Bless you Ron you have more patience than i ever will have.
Good Job Guys....but wished that trucker stayed quiet...."Too many Cooks "
Great job and just glad that this beautiful T-bird is in one piece and is still looking good
Its easy to sit in the comfort of you house, being a smart ass, or yell at the screen.
But since I used to drive a tow truck, this is good time to be silent and hold your breath.
So I did, and you did really good!
What a nerve wrecking job and well done !!!
This one is going to be cool.
My wife's favourite car. She and it are the same age. Great job rescuing that car with nary a scratch.
Wow what a job. Great job crew & owner.
I kept thinking please shut that door!!!
Any car that looks that good after so many years has to be taken special care of. And as always, Ron Pratt and crew did a great job. Everyone put their heads together and came up with a plan that would not damage the car or Rons pride. Take care and God bless.
Wow this was a great video. Love history. The team work was perfect.
Wow . That truck driver would have got his feelings hurt if I was on that job . Ron you are a better man than I am
Ron, I can see you and the Mrs. Rolling around the town in that historic beautiful vehicle.
