  • Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching. Today, Ethan is doing a job solo, which he has been doing for a while, but this is the first job which he took video. It seems like a simple enough job, as most of them do. All he has to do is tow a 1969 Ford F100 that is going to be rebuilt, from one location to another. However, the drop location turns out to be a bit of a challenge. Is Ethan up for it? Remember, Ethan is only 19 years old. I may be a "proud dad", but I believe he is doing fantastic on his own. Right now he is primarily using our Peterbilt 337 with a Miller Industries, Century LCG12 rollback (tilt tray), but he also drives the bigger trucks when I'm available to ride with him. I know this is new. We are going to see how the viewers react to Ethan. There will still be my standard Friday videos, but if this goes well, you may start getting more videos per week, which I know quite a few of you have been asking for. I hope you all enjoy this video!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

UPDATED: First, the HD version is now active. Second, there are quite a few people making positive suggestions that I should teach Ethan how to redirect the winch off the tailboard to pull a vehicle off. Allow me to clarify....I have taught Ethan that maneuver. He knows how and when to use it. He and I talked about it after this job and he stated that he didn't want to do it that way for safety reasons. He didn't want a "roll away". Thanks for the suggestions. Like I always say, there are multiple ways to reach 10.
For anyone watching this video shortly after it's release, 7:00 a.m CST, Wednesday October 26, 2022, the HD, High Definition, video is still processing on UA-cam. I am uncertain why there is a problem. The video was uploaded around 8:00 p.m. last night and should have already been processed and ready in HD. Please come back and watch it again later in HD if you weren't pleased with the SD, Standard Definition, video quality. This is an excellent video, in my opinion. Certainly an historic video since this is Ethan's first solo video. Thanks for watching and God bless.

Hey Ron, love the channel. When I was 11 we moved close to a wrecker service and his son was 12. I ended up becoming very good friends with his son and also working for him. He had 3 small wreckers and a Peterbilt and Kenworth big wrecker. I think all had Holmes wrecker frames. He had a junkyard, body shop, used car sales and service station. He taught us well but was not as nice and understanding as you. I saw plenty of what 11 - 14 year olds should never see, but it certainly made a young man out of me. I later moved away again and never wanted to do this type of work. Ethan seems like he will make a fine driver. Keep up the good work and God bless you and your family.

Great job, Ethan! I noticed that you were putting some of the chains and such away as you were disconnecting, instead of just dropping them and then having to go back to stow them. Smart way to work, not having to handle things more times than necessary. And at one point you had stopped to consider options, I thought, "Just what his dad would be doing. Stop and study the situation, rather than just bulling and jamming and getting yourself into trouble." Safety first!

I intentionally waited to watch this video until Friday for a Midwest Truck double play.
I can feel for you on this one Ethan! Back in my younger days, I'm 54 years old now, a friend and I had to put a "second series" 55 Chevy pickup into a 10x17 garage with an 8x7 door. We didn't have a roll back but, we did have my grandpas C-35 GMC with a Holmes 440 bed and his dads Oliver tractor with a loader. We managed to get it in the garage without damaging the truck or building. The truck originally belonged to his grandfather and had a lot of sentimental value. Over the next several years, my friend, his dad and I restored it. My friend still has, and enjoys it to this day. The trucks main job these days is taking his 4 year old grandson out for ice cream and it does its job with pride!

One day soon we will be watching Ethan calling the shots while Ron is there to be the support team, just like Bill was with Ron. I know he is young and is just starting to really learn this stuff good but with the teacher he has in his dad, Ethan will be a very good operator very very soon. Getting this solo experience will just make his confidence grow so much. Im sure he realizes that being in the shadow of such a great operator like his dad is, can be difficult to find your own grasp on the way you do things but im sure he will realize that the shadow he is in is actually a very good place to be in until he realizes he is ready to step out into his own light!

That ol' Ford was as stubborn as a Mule but Ethan outsmarted it an put to bed in its new storage bay. No damage, a happy customer, truck tucked in all cozy. Ethan, you did a great job and I look forward to watching your videos. How about we do Ethan videos on Wednesday and Ron videos on Friday. To Ethan and all the Midwest Truck crew, keep up the great work, stay safe and God Bless.

Ethan: I'm sure you'll be reading the comments on this one. Well done on your first "solo" video. You came across really well in this one; comfortable and relaxed with the customer and a good job on filming everything.
It's pretty obvious that your dad's professional attitude has rubbed-off on you and I'm sure you're going to be a great asset to Midwest Truck. Learn everything you can from Ron; you couldn't have a better teacher/mentor. Don't expect to know everything immediately; your knowledge will continue to grow - we're always learning. As the years pass and your experience expands, don't be afraid to ask for help along the way.
Remember: we learn nothing from talking, only from listening. Good job. 👍😁

Wow... Ethan did an excellent job on this! There were a few times I felt like I was watching you (Ron)... just with a slightly deeper voice. I have a hard time believing he is only 19 years old. His professionalism on the video... and with your customer... was A+! Definitely would love to see more videos from him!

Ethan was brilliant. He looked, acted, and sounded confident. And Like his father, he has a nice way with the customer. Ron and Ethan's mum must be so proud. And rightly so. Best wishes from England.

Very good video. I'll watch them. Ethan is learning what it is he knows, finding out what he doesn't, and figuring out his own tricks. Winching the truck off the bed would work only if you chain it so it can only move as much as you want it to. The underlift was the ticket to push it inside. He got to 10 with no fouls! Thumbs up. Love the speed binders.
