Honestly can't believe I'm watching and learning this for free, this is so valuable for people who are into production, mixing and mastering. I've said this before in a comment but it is truly amazing the work you put into making these videos for people to learn. Also very humble by the artist to give out the stems for people to practice. Everything in this video truly made my day. Keep up the good work!👏
Same here. lol when I get to, say, Mea Culpa (Deadbeat mix) FINAL 17? This one isn’t hypothetical, either. Occasionally, I will add a word that helps identify the main edit. It can help to see the exports at certain places of development, kinda like a timeline.
Michael you should charge more for your level of knowledge! I advice you for 100 £ax 1 or 2 revisions one mastercut! Other for a plus! I mean I understand you level of knowledge,ok you have less equipment but still you can make good quality up to a client's market point! Because you purely can not satisfy the big clientele !you have family and you need to manage more your well time spent 😅
You are the best teacher ever because no one teaches you these in this way, they are always so extra about it but you explain it casually, which makes it incredibly easy to understand. Thank you for this quality content!
Thank you very much for the video Michael and Clo Sur for being so kind for sharing the stems. Those stuff are very helpful for us amateurs!!! It is always great to experiment with commercial level songs by these amazing tutorials / tips / tricks. Brilliant!!! Guys, anyone watching this video please support Clo Sur as well, it is not something we see often!!!
Mixing and Mastering are big problems for me in my own productions, your step by step guides from start to finish helped me out so much, thank you Michael! 💖
Not a professional engineer so these help out a LOT and learning all this for free is truly valuable, so a big thanks Micheal! Your efforts are really appreciated. Clo Sur, Solo Ray, Andy Toy and Chris Szczech, great track guys and big up to ye for supplying the stems!
Thank you Michael! Words cannot express how glad I am to have met you. Been struggling with the essence and purpose of mastering for a long time and that didn't let me understand what mastering was all about or how to go about it. This tutorial answered it all. You're priceless! Really, I love you man♥️
Crazy, for a while in my master chain I was using the vintage limiter and then running it through the Maximizer, but I never though to change to IRC III, I was getting that same mud with modern. Looks like it's time to try it again, love that subtle color. Thanks again for the valuable resources!
Hey, thank you for this helpful video! It gets very tricky when u master trap or rap songs where most of the times you want the bass to stand out but you also want loudness. Please consider this genre reference for a future mastering video, it would be very helpful! Thank you again, amazing job!
Long time subscriber. Fantastic demonstration! That mix was really well balanced to begin with though. That helped a lot. I hardly ever get mixes like this. Bravo!
This is incredible. When I have some free time I am super excited to download the stems and practice along. It’ll be extremely valuable to first try and imitate what you’re doing then try and make some adjustments of my own to see what sounds good.
So glad I've found you young man. Your explanations are so easy to follow and understand. UA-cam should treasure you as a true asset. For such a long time I've been trying to accomplish this. Thank you lots kind Sir. 👍
So much to review and learn in this. Feels like a summary and application of what I have been learning the past couple of years and I know I will be using this video for reinforcement and referencing in future. Many thanks
just finished the vdi been watching for a couple years. bout begin trying my hand at mastering my songs and learning how. may as well. thank you for the informative and honest vids man. its helped me so much and we create nothing similar stylistically. big ups!
Like countless other people I wanna join in and thank you for all the videos! It's especially awesome that these lessons apply to pretty much any genre one is producing (I'm mostly doing spacey ambient music, sometimes even electronic rock). Although loudness and compression specifics is a bit different in those genres, the basic ideas are same. In a matter of days my mixes and masters have become way more clear and juicy, thanks to your vids! (tho in my case it's often been "putting out fires" as my source files and sounds can be from years ago and are crappy quality, so I'm not dealing with subtleties but rather major ugly frequencies lol)
Hello In the mix I've been following you since I started producing my own songs last March, 2021. Your contents helped me alot understanding the basic mechanism to complex functions. Thank you so much❤
Brother,I cannot tell you how your guidelins means alot to me,you are doing amazing work, from which lots of people are ripping the benefits,I am deeply thankful to you, lord bless you man,❤❤❤..
Could you please make a video about mixing and mastering a badly recorded live performance? For example when the vocal mic captured some of the drums as well. That would be very helpful!
Hey man... You know what..I never knew how to use FL studio... But since I watched the video you uploaded on how a beginner can use FLs.. it really helped me a lot.. And now I at least can make a beat but not perfect.. so I'm still learning.. That's why I like watching all your totorials..👍👍💪
Seriously man every-time you post I get excited to produce cause I always learn something new or improve something I already know. I hate that a lot of people who use FL Studio only use it for beats and not a actual recording DAW for different types of music. I use FL Studio for Nu-Metal/Industrial/and Techno. Can’t wait for the next video! Keep killing it
Older FL user here, new abletoneer as well. Fl studio is awesome for beatmaking but ableton has it beat when it comes to live recordings and intuitive features.
Logic Pro definitely upgraded my mixing/mastering game. Pre fader leveling definitely gave me a whole new outlook on mixing. I don’t think fl offers pre fader.
Wow.......what a fantastic track and song. I will definitely take Michael's techniques to heart. I may download these stems and maybe try a remix........
do you have a video to better explain sample rates and export settings? I figured we could all gain some knowledge with that as well , a video diving further in depth.
This is a super great video but it has left me with so many questions because it's such a different approach to mastering from the last video Firstly, if the bass is the problem, shouldn't we reduce it during the mixing process? essentially reducing the bass means changing the frequency content of the song, which is as far as I know something you need to do during the mixing process, and even tho it might be something you can fix, do you really want to change the mixing engineer's vision of the mix? (as for changing the frequency content he was aiming for) Second, can't you just link the bass to another channel and add it after the compression? so that the bass won't be a part of the compression and that it'll only affect the instruments. Maybe you can use a separate compressor on the sub as well, but considering the fact that usually, the sub-area is consistent, why would it be a problem to the whole mix? it's essentially like adding a consistent signal to the mix, not including the kick. Lastly and it's about the limiter itself, I've seen loud tracks that have a ton of bass, while still sounding clear, there has to be a way to achieve it without sacrificing reducing the bass level (and no the tracks were not distorted), maybe they've used just a better and a more transparent compressor, or limiter? Despite all of these points, I do know that usually Synthwave tracks like yours tend to have less bass, so it might be the reason why you did that, and if it is it makes total sense, and it was super informative to see that approach to mastering. Every walkthrough you make brings in something new to learn, so keep doing these, it's awesome :)
Thanks for another amazing tutorial if you want volume them as close as possible to check mix vs master I'm using loudness penalty which you recommend in your videos before it works nicely for me to know how much db i have pull down on my exported master
I know you’re not a plugin guy, and all respect for that, but I do like that you are using Acustica Audio stuff now, their plugins just sounds better in many situations, but you have to live with the fact that the daw/computer just can’t handle too many instancies of their plugins! 😉 Great vid, Thanks!
Brother can you please do complete tutorial for how to master in FL Studio (Only use Stock plugins & All Genres) with how to tonal balance (without tonal balance control plugins )
Hey! Awesome video thank you so much for making these step by step vids! I was wondering if you could just use the same limiter twice? Does that work? I have ozone elements and I was wondering if I could just add that twice and use the maximizer in there twice cuz I see you're using a limiter and a maximizer and I don't really understand the difference. Why not just use the same twice? Thanks in advance!
Thank you Michael and thank you Solo Ray for the incredible track production work on this song.
Thanks again for letting our community download the stems and mix down to practice their skills!
@@inthemix plz host a remix contest soon.
Hey Clo Sur! Amazing song, and it ended up sounding great! I both downloaded the stems and saved your song in my favourites! ^w^
@@TheFinalGamerRN Thank you!
Clo, your song sounds horrible and I'm not talking about the mix or master!
Honestly can't believe I'm watching and learning this for free, this is so valuable for people who are into production, mixing and mastering. "Don't name your track Final Master, if you call it final master it almost certainly won't be."
Damn do I feel called out!
Great Video, Michael!

I got a good laugh outta that too.

What a great video. I have never seen such beneficial content in my country.
(from overseas)
Thank you for Sharing! This is really rich.

👏👏👏. Favourite teacher. God bless you
Great video and content. The first thing you learn when you start mastering is how important the mixing stage is!
Great video as always Michael
You're the best teacher man. Well done 👏👏
Thanks for another amazing tutorial if you want volume them as close as possible to check mix vs master I'm using loudness penalty which you recommend in your videos before it works nicely for me to know how much db i have pull down on my exported master
waiting for this ❤️
Just finished streaming the song... Loved it.
Another great tutorial!!
WOOOOO TAKE US AWAAAY!
UK rules. Besides Dan Worrall, a great find in YT land. Thx for sharing.
Woah. This is just what I needed to learn. Thank you so much 😁😁
Thanks for the knowledge. Catchy tune as well. I'll stream it for sure.
That was amazing. Thanks man 🤙🏼
I know you’re not a plugin guy, and all respect for that, but I do like that you are using Acustica Audio stuff now, their plugins just sounds better in many situations, but you have to live with the fact that the daw/computer just can’t handle too many instancies of their plugins! 😉
Great vid, Thanks!
Thank u for such authentic knowledge
I love the song and I appreciate your skills. I would like to hear a clean mastered version though.
final final final final Master
Thank you, I have learned so much from you and still learning ❤
Mann you've gat a perfect jawline

Would love if you were to master a hiphop/trap song in the future! Fantastic video as always
Good idea, I’ll try to do that in the future:)

Thank you man you changed my workflow...
Love your Work..may God bless you
Man I'm Just A Big Fan Of You🇿🇦
Hey Michael ❤️
Can you make a video focused on Sample Rate Conversion and dithering.
Thank you for the great tutorial and sharing your precious knowledge.
Always look forward to your next YT video. Cheers mate ;)
Top stuff! Thank you ⚡️
Interesting to see an Acustica plugin in your arsenal.
u r a god bro, I really love your work. I’ve learned a lot from you, thank you
Thank you
Brother can you please do complete tutorial for how to master in FL Studio (Only use Stock plugins & All Genres) with how to tonal balance (without tonal balance control plugins )
Another great video man. Thanks so much!
Amazing as usual. Thanks man!
Absolutely use the same limiter twice (ideally with different settings)
