I’ve reviewed a lot of SEs. There’s probably an element of “luck of the draw”, but as I said, this inexpensive model plays amazingly well. Right up there with the USA stuff. Thanks for watching.
I found a used satin cherry 24 for under $400 on Reverb and had to grab it. It was a b-stock guitar from Musician's Friend with a barely visible ding on the side of the body. After I gave it complete setup, it plays just as well as my SE custom 24.
Picked mine up when they were on sale for around $550 and it's a fantastic guitar. Perfect set-up out of the box, smooth frets, properly intonated, and nice action. Sounds great, love the split coils. Also like the finish, very happy with it!
I have that color too with 9’s along with a Custom 24 SE in blue with 10’s. I can’t decide which to play because I love them both and despite the differences in string gauges they both play superb and look great.
Well, I’ll tell you something. Every time I’ve tried 9s I’ve always gone back to 10s. But this one came with 9s, and it plays so well I didn’t even change the strings, which I always do! Enjoy them my friend and thanks for watching.
The entire range of PRS SE models have been a good bargain among the competitors. This morning I saw the release of the same model, SE CE24 in a satin finish with an all mahogany body, and a MSRP of $499 US! PRS seems to be getting serious these days! Enjoyed the video!
I’ve had a PRS 594 SE since April, and like yours, mine was also set up flawlessly out of the box. It’s got one of the nicest necks to play I’ve ever felt on a guitar, and is so resonant unplugged, and so huge and rich sounding plugged in… I’ve owned several American guitars, but in all honesty I think this guitar is the best electric I’ve ever owned!
Nice. Yes I enjoyed the neck on those, both the SE and the S2. PRS maintains a high standard by having the SEs shipped to the US factory and taking care of any needed fretwork and setup. Reverend does the same thing and it makes all the difference.
@@leonardgriffieblues5845 oh cool, I didn’t know that. Have you tried any of the Reverend Telecaster guitars? And if so, would you recommend them over cheaper competitors to American Fenders like the Mexican Fenders or the G&Ls?
@@scaredypickerIn terms of quality the Reverends are great. I’ve only reviewed one so far but it was very nice. It was the model with P90s, the Charger 290. Many of Fender’s MIM guitars are very nice as well. The Reverends may be slightly more consistent but have a little different feel.
Great overview as usual! Thanks for that. This one seems like a progression from the SE Custom 24:08 in some ways, which I bought a couple years ago and like a lot. The Swamp Ash HSH looks interesting keen to see it in your hands as it has same configuration as my 1992 Sadowsky NYC S Style which has a terrific pick-up 'blend' - Swiss Army Knife. FWIW my next SE will an Ebony Tremonti w. whammy bar and 24.5 scale which I'll drop Bare Knuckle PG Blues into - essentially a 'Peter Green' LP with whammy, something I've always wanted. The instruments coming out of Indonesia have 'bones' for me, but you do have to watch the wiring - I've tried a couple in the flagship store here where the neck pick-up cuts out - bit of an embarrassing moment for my friendly salesperson but relatively easy fix (esp if you're considering modding, as I am). Really enjoy your approach to featuring stuff! 👍
Thanks so much. I’m going to do my very best to keep bringing relevant content. And yes, I’ve now reviewed a number of SE models and they’ve all been well made, good playing guitars. And of course, they would be great for upgrading. Thanks so much for watching.
I just bought one (yesterday) and for the price (£529 uk) it can't be faulted at all. I wanted a cheap,Humbucker equipped guitar pref with a trem. Only bad point was the absolutely dreadful strings fitted as standard, Easily fixed with a setup and 10 gauge GHS Boomers. Incidentally, I'm sure the nut would easily accomodate 11's without any surgery. I polished the neck with steel wool and now its as smooth as glass. Its all good, whether you're a PRS fan or not ( I'm not) but this CE24 really is a star!
I found it pretty hard to beat at that price point. I wasn’t kidding. The one I got was literally set up as well as a USA PRS, which are probably the most consistently well set up factory guitars out there. Whether people love or hate PRS, few argue they aren’t extremely playable. Not all the SEs I’ve reviewed have been quite at this level, but they’ve all been close. Thanks so much for watching.
Thanks for the feedback/comparison, Leonard. I had a PRS SE Paul's guitar but no longer. Am now looking possibly towards another PRS SE with a tremolo such as the one here. Tim
That fingerboard looks like ebony! Right now I'm on the fence...I like (i don't love) my Les Paul and I'm actually thinking of trading it for a Marshall Mini Jubilee combo or a Mesa Badlander 25 combo. At the same time, I have a Marshall SC20 combo on consignment. I'm not crazy about the ten inch speaker. When it sells, I was thinking of getting one of the PRS SE guitars, either the SC, McCarty, or DGT. I like blues and 70s hard rock but also 80s thrash/speed/NWOBHM. It's tough to figure out which would be suitable for all of the above.
You know, between those three, I think you probably want to base it on feel. They can all handle the music, but the neck carves vary. Thanks so much for watching.
Every time i come in the region of the owl, it seems like i play just as easy as play on the fifth position, by both guitars...... quality, i think so! 🎯
That’s my trusty Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb. I’ve done a couple videos on it, including this one: It's been 2 years - do I still love the Tone Master? ua-cam.com/video/zc64_TIKaEQ/v-deo.html Thanks for watching.
I think the models you mentioned may have the same pickups, but others, like the SE McCarty 594, SE DGT, SE Paul’s Guitar, etc. have pickups unique to the model and do sound different. Thanks so much for watching.
A little different, but every bit as good. In fact, the one I featured is, as I mentioned, one of the very best playing SEs I’ve tried. Now of course that’s likely to be luck of the draw and not model specific. In any case it’s a solid guitar that’s great to play.
I’ve yet to hear a split humbucker that sounds like a true single coil. It just offers a different sound. The nice thing about the way PRS does it is you don’t lose too much volume. Thanks for watching.
Yes great playability n consistency throughout the lines n price point ... I have a problem with the indonesian 85/15 ... they lack personality and i think that's where PRS save the pennies ... the difference with american 85/15 is night n day unfortunately ... them indonesian are mounted on a lot of Prs ... not only se but se 2 . Them guitars seem to basically sound all the same ... i owned an se custom 24 floyd and parted for that reason .. the best se are the ones voiced for artists like the dgt or Mark Holcomb .... different heart ahahah
Yes, the Indonesian pickups aren’t up to the USA versions, though I did find the 58/15 S to be a little nicer than the others. But yeah, it’s why I put Seymour Duncans in my S2 Standard 24. Thanks for watching.
If you’re referring to Cort’s labor disputes they were resolved back in 2007. They’re one of the world’s largest guitar makers, building for most of the major brands. I’m sure they’ve had a lot of management turnover in the last 20 years, as has companies like Gibson and Fender.
Love my cherry red SE CE 24....bought it in February...it's incredibly resonant...a feel good, sounds good guitar at any price point !

Great driving picking Mr Griffie and good luck with the channel - I really enjoy your videos! A fan in England 👍
Thank you so much. Greatly appreciated
Thanks again Leonard. A short, straight to the point review and some excellent playing. I found myself tapping both feet!
Well that’s a good thing! Thanks so much.

Just bought the green one, great playing Leonard
Thank you my friend. Enjoy yours!

Thank you, very useful video and an honest take.
Thanks. I’m very happy you found it useful.
Hey Leonard Really enjoying the Eastman T486 I got from you, another killer guitar!
I have to say, I came very close to keeping that one. Enjoy it my friend.
And I'm really enjoying the T484 I got from him too! It's a keeper
Brilliant video 😀👍🏻
Thanks so much. Appreciated.
Beautiful guitar! Sweet sounds and playing!!💥👍🤙
Muchas Gracious
Sure sounds good with you playing it Leonard !
Thank you my friend.
I like the orange 🍊 one. 😎🎸
Well who doesn’t? 😆 Thanks for watching.
nice finish, way better than the satin ones. Sounds great too.
Yes, the satin model is a very good value, but I agree this one looks much nicer. Thanks for watching.
Interesting, didn't think that model is so good for blues. Sounds great.
Thank you my friend. Thanks for watching.

Yes it does
In this case, absolutely. Thanks for watching.
In PRS se they have a lot of model (se ce , se 24 , se 24 08) that have same pickup and sound same for my years
I think the models you mentioned may have the same pickups, but others, like the SE McCarty 594, SE DGT, SE Paul’s Guitar, etc. have pickups unique to the model and do sound different. Thanks so much for watching.
How does it compare to the 24-08 you reviewed? Considering it as I'm not always using the single coil mini switches on my 24-08

Would you say the neck on the ce24 is thinner than the 24-08?
What a fantastic video have a wonderful day also what is your favorite year from the 2010s ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you so much. My favorite year? With regard to PRS? Life? LOL.
Good to get the real deal from the real deal.
😊😎
Love mine as much if not better than my Core
I agree it’s a real winner.
Thanks for tuning in. 😎
The split doesn't sound like strat single coil, why prs did this split option?

Made by court guitars
PRS has a dedicated Cor-Tek (Cort) factory in Indonesia that only produces the SE line under supervision of PRS USA.
It dose not have a good reputation
