I love my PRS SE CE 24 Vintage Cherry Satin that I bought in last February..... It feels good, plays well, is only 7.2lbs, love the finish and 10 radius. Finally PRS makes a lovely guitar for those who cannot spend $$$ ! All guitars can play all genres... tone, tone, tone ..and with the push/pull feature, that can easily happen !
This is my third PRS. Unfortunately I had to sell my USA made and Korean made SE, years ago, as I went through a rough financial patch. Now I own a brand new PRS SE CE 24 and could not be happier -- it really is exquisite and I play to slowly upgrade the hardware.
I paid that price for as SE one when they came out like 100 years ago(it was also a great guitar) This guitar for the price in 2024 with a bag is amazing
Satin finishes are so under rated. I have a few US CE 24's (various pickups and dealer exclusive finishes etc.) In today's market, 499 for that guitar is an insane value.
I bought a 2014 gibson LPJ back in 2014, this was my first "real" guitar. It came in a very similar finishing. Had this been a thing in 2014, I'd be all over it. Honestly it's a great guitar
I'm a DiMarzio guy but SD's are an excellent choice. I've had good results tweaking my SE CE24 Satin Red's stock pickups. Takes a little doing but you CAN coax great tones from this guitar's stock pickups.
Have you ever used the bird inlays, in an on stage setting? They really help with fretboard visibility, especially if you’re the singer! My experience, of course…
I was trying to find the specs on those pickups, and apparently there's a fairly wide tolerance from the manufacturer, so the resistance from one to the next could vary fairly significantly. Hence why you might really dig one set, but then someone else does not really dig the set they got.
Yeah, I own a '91 Custom 24 with HFS/VB's. Great pickups, IMO the newer ones don't sound the same. Still, you can't go wrong with a PRS. IMO the best guitars on the market!
I've had to get mine replaced under warranty, it's had an insane amount of noise coming off the Tremolo Springs. Could hear it through the amp and even without.
Is the replacement any better? I had a Custom 24 that I bought in 2000 and it had the same issue. I stuffed foam all around the springs and it still didn't help. I finally sold that guitar back in 2020.
Cool review. Wish there was someplace near me to check out how it plays. You also interested me in the PRS strat copy. And, I'm also jonesing to check out an Epiphone Les Paul Junior. The problem is which one will have the magic. Can't tell without laying hands on the real deal.......solve that problem....please.
Hahha.. I bought the last guitar in my country... Awesome guitar... Just go for it ..good for everything .. out of the box playable ...tone is awesome...it's about a month... Hvnt changed the strings yet... And the tuning stability too is pretty good... Better than Mexican strat 😅😅
I have a SE Paul’s Guitar. Plays great but the pickups just suck. No other way to put it. I tried to get the pickups they use in the USA model but they don’t sell them, from what I can see. The guitar is beautiful. The tuning keys seem really cheap too with slop in them.
There is a Fender Custom Shop Telecaster heavy relic in aged Sherwood Green over 3 tone Sunburst. If someone accidentally moved the decimal point over and it is $510 instead of $5100. I will buy it right now 📞 me. BTW that is an awesome PRS SE CE24.
I hear ya. Perhaps you should try some used ones that have been "lovingly owned and set up." Not an easy task, but in my experience (I'm a former Sam Ash associate.). The reason is that used guitars have a better chance at having been set up either by their owners or their guitar setup guru's. The result is guitars that play better than their brand new counterparts. Of course, I've experienced used guitars that were not maintained well and play as badly if not worse than a brand new one - there's that to contend with. Still, try a used version of a PRS - you might be surprised. The big music stores don't always have time to tweak newly received guitars, so they end up on the wall needing neck adjustments at the very least. What happens is that the factory do their best to set the instruments up to playable tolerances, but often times the setup "shifts" or "settles" in transit from the factory to the store. The most common thing is that the neck bows up in response to the string tension, even if the instruments have the string loosened before shipping - it's a wood thing. Sales floor staff are busy selling so they usually unbox the instruments, give 'em a quick tune up and hang them on the wall. Consequently, the necks bow up more when the string tension is tightened. This results in stiff tension that some players find uncomfortable (I'm one of 'em, being that I have learned to set up my guitars to optimal playing action and as such have a hard time trying out new guitars in stores.). The result is most guitars don''t play optimally in the store because they really do need to be set up. This is not the factory's fault necessarily, although I have to tell you that as long as I worked MI PRS guitars did tend to come out of the box more playable than even their high end competition. The thing to do is ask your sales associate to have the guitar you're considering tweaked by their in-house guitar repair man, if only to straighten the neck up. It's not unreasonable to make this a condition of the sale, and even if you take a pass the store will have a guitar on the wall now that does play better and has a better chance of being chosen by the next customer. Try this with any guitar you shop, and you may find yourself a PRS that you can warm up to.
That guitar is dying for EMGs. You know it, I know it, the internet knows it. 😆 I realize they wanted to keep the theme of the CE24, but I kind of wish they'd have made a hard tail version of this. Less is more when dealing with entry level instruments IMO.
To me, PRS is the Toyota of guitars. They make perfectly good, well-made models, but there’s nothing there that excites me. Is it a coincidence about PRS and Toyota PRiuS?
Yep, totally destroys the myth that Gibson perpetuated decades ago that a guitar had to be heavy to have tone and sustain. Read your history and talk to those in the know, they'll tell you that The Big G at the time were over supplied with heavy wood stocks that they needed to move. So they allowed the guitar community to believe that weight was essential to great guitar tone. I remember owning a back breaker Les Paul in the 1980's. Swapped it out and tried another Les Paul, same thing. Even with a three inch wide strap, after one set I was ready for some muscle relaxers for the shoulder pain. Got rid of the Paul's and never looked back, got a Strat which was way more comfortable. Then PRS came out with the Custom 24 and the rest is history.
Funny, I dislike the light satin finish bodies where you can feel the grain because when they get dings more of the unstained wood is exposed and the gouges look ugly and not ruggedly handsome. Also feels like you’re gonna get a splinter. I’ll gladly take a gloss or even semigloss.
@@mjwontstopYes, all the discussion of how the wood 'breathes' better with these thin finishes seems to be marketing-speak. The reason is because it is cheaper, otherwise you‘d see the Core models have this finish. For what you gain in price you give up in durability and I think inspiration. When I pick up a guitar I want it to look good and feel good or I don’t want to play it. Guitars like these feel like pieces of raw wood thrown together and have too much of a metal, goth, or punk feel for me with all of the dark accents and woods. Someone needs to tell Paul that just because it is inexpensive it doesn’t need to look dour and morose. Liven it up a little or at least give us some additional choices on colors.
Thats why i ended up with the Prs Cutom Se Mcarthy 594 goldburst single cut. For me i like the weight the feel and everything and i had it professionally set-up so im happy. Going back to the bolt-on it feels really cheap for me thats why the momet i held it and played it it felt so wrong for me it felt like i will break it in sometime…
@@mjwontstopInteresting. I actually feel the opposite about set necks, probably because I had a problem with an SG with the thin heel joint. It cracked and was kind of an expensive fix. Since then I‘ve been dubious of the durability of set neck guitars versus bolt-ons and now prefer the modularity and fixability of bolt-ons unless I really need something with a very woody tone that only a set-neck or neck-through can provide.
These are legitimate concerns for sure. In my case this is more of a backup guitar that won't see as much action as my main guitar, an SE Custom 24. Still it's a great value for anyone wanting a PRS without breaking the bank.
Demo sounded cool... I have a "BUT".... But... Ive found man... budget guitars you buy them because you really wanted the expensive one.. and we're hoping that the cheapie will cure the itch. For me man.. I end up just buying a bunch of cheap guitars that are close and not liking any of them. If you want a PRS... TO me... Get the nice shit... If you want a cheap guitar... I dunno... You can get one that says "PRS".. but it wont be a PRS... It'll be a "Cheap PRS" you know what i mean? Like the silver sky... Yeah it sounds good but it just feels cheap. Sorry it does. When it comes to GAS.. If you want a custom shop.. Buying 12 MIM guitars wont cure the itch. Get the custom shop if that's what you really want. You'll spend less money in the end I feel. I dunno... Whenever I buy a guitar cause "It's a good deal" instead of I wanted the guitar specifically.. Im always ending up not digging it later.

Guitars don't have to be expensive to be awesome! This is an awesome guitar.

I put SD 59s in mine, the guitar is totally worth the upgrade and I play it with my Custom Shop Stat and Les Pauls happily! It is not out of place...
I'm a DiMarzio guy but SD's are an excellent choice. I've had good results tweaking my SE CE24 Satin Red's stock pickups. Takes a little doing but you CAN coax great tones from this guitar's stock pickups.
I almost got one, but I saved up a little extra for the blood orange maple veneer version. Very happy with it.
It’s actually pretty awesome. I had a set of PRS 85/15 laying around so I decided to buy one and it was very cool!
Have you ever used the bird inlays, in an on stage setting? They really help with fretboard visibility, especially if you’re the singer! My experience, of course…
The SE CE 24 with the maple cap has been reduced to £529 in the UK probably as PRS know they’d never shift them with these satin monsters on the go !!
I clicked on this because of Baxter’s “oh,” face when playing that PRS.
One of the best values was PRS S2, American Made Version of PRS, and a Guitar you should keep an eye out for
Only the recent ones with USA made electronics and pickups. The prior ones would have scratchy pots within days
I was trying to find the specs on those pickups, and apparently there's a fairly wide tolerance from the manufacturer, so the resistance from one to the next could vary fairly significantly. Hence why you might really dig one set, but then someone else does not really dig the set they got.
Those 85 15s are so hot. Not as hot as the HFS VBs i have from the early 90's but they rip.
Yeah, I own a '91 Custom 24 with HFS/VB's. Great pickups, IMO the newer ones don't sound the same. Still, you can't go wrong with a PRS. IMO the best guitars on the market!

I'm 65 years old and own a few PRS guitars so this is not my first guitar. But it's a great instrument nevertheless.

I got the turquoise one. It's great!
Do the PRS locking tuners drop right in?
I guess now im going to have to get one of these . Love the satin finish. Would compliment my USA made CE!! Im blaming you--- Casino!!!! Lol
That has got some growl! ✌️❤️🎸
What amp is this being played through?!! Sounds absolutely killer!!
Killer tone and playing, even from a cheap guitar!!
Not a big fan of Satin but the Sandblasted ones sure are attractive.
Can I get one in white?
No.

Does anyone know if the trem sucks? I see 6 point trem and it makes me worry . Vega trem would be sick on this but those are 200 bucks

What is the weight of the guitar
I’ve always loved the look of the PRS but I have yet to bond with them. They leave me cold for some reason.

The se CE 24 has a completely different neck joint than the regular model. Seems cool, but kinda a different instrument than its likeness.
Would love to see this in a hard tail!
499$ before or after taxes ?
To me, PRS is the Toyota of guitars. They make perfectly good, well-made models, but there’s nothing there that excites me. Is it a coincidence about PRS and Toyota PRiuS?
Haha!
And prs private stock with exotic flame tops is the Lexus F-Sport trim?
They must've just rolled out of bed.
Horses for courses. That wide thin neck is not for everyone. Tried one of those, did not like the neck, body shape or the birds. Cheers!
I was afraid I wouldn't like the neck on this model but was pleasantly surprised and got one.
Can someone PLEASE beg Mr PRS to release more than one guitar every year that has regular dot inlays? God I am just not a fan of birds.
Womp womp
I don't mind the birds but yeah dots (Or moon inlays in PRS' case) are nice.
Put black tape over them
Just buy another brand
Just buy a harley Benton man
Mine looks exactly like that 6.2 lbs. can gig all nite
