I've been told the offshoots that are mainly yellow may not persist as there is nothing to produce chlorophyll. So if removed from the main stem, they will ultimately fail. A friend who specializes in succulent plantings created a spectacular bed by combining Sunburst, alternating with golden flowered Clivia.
Why the heck have I never seen your videos before? I just so happened to search crested succulents and up popped a bunch of your videos.!!! I'm definitely going to subscribe I can't wait to go through all of your videos!!
@@suzypie11 I just watched your video with all your cresteds! Wow they are gorgeous I've been trying to get my hands on one but I noticed tonight one of my graptopetalum paraguayense propagations is a crested so I'm very excited! I'm also very excited about your videos. I watch succulent videos all day long LOL and it's hard because a lot of channels do not speak English and even though I do speak Spanish I just prefer videos in english.
Janet Ac oh wonderful your getting a little crest. Enjoy 🌸 I’m really pleased to hear to like my videos. I’m on Instagram and post daily pics and succulent info if you use Instagram. instagram.com/s.is.for.succulents Thanks Again xox
No you haven’t. You can still do it in Spring. I just think you have a longer period of time for it to grow before it goes dormant in Summer if done early in Winter. If you do get some offsetting then it just may stay small during summer while its dormant but will re animated once it experiences cooler temps again I hope that was helpful Do try to leave a few bottom leaves on the stem. Good luck let me know how you go. 😀
I just bought my first sunburst. It’s still little. I got my first Aeonium while walking my dog. Big green ones. A neighbor had a giant clumped hedge of them and after talking to him, he just ripped one off and handed to me. 3 years later I have a mini hedge in a clay pot lol. I’m going to share and trade with a co worker.
I trimmed of the top layers of leaves to get ot to branch/produce more heads. They are producing well but still small size of a nickle. The stem is stretched and i want to cut it to repot. When should i cut it. Should i let the multiple heads grow more, or can i cut the stem now. I dont want to lose all the little knew heads.
If you cut the stem you are forcing it to grow new roots and grow heads. I wouldn’t. It’s too much at the same time. These are a stemy succulent in general. I wouldn’t worry about the stem length. It will just happen again in time.
Hi, good video. You didn't cover what you did with the head. Do you just place it on top of soil? Must it calluse first? Must you water the head? Thanks.
Theresa Pon Hi Theresa. Yes let it calluse over. You can put in on dry soil immediately but don’t water it. I personally leave my cuttings on a rack until roots show and then I plant and water. There is no harm to plant up straight away but no water needed til roots appear. Many people put fresh cuttings in arrangements. Just keep in mind water is pointless until roots appear. If you do water when it hasn’t got roots it will be fine if it’s callused. But I wouldn’t let it sit in wet soil unnecessary. In general most cuttings will show roots within 3 weeks. There will be enough water within the leaves to keep it alive. It’s not uncommon to loss a few bottom leaves as the roots grow. I hope that was helpful and thanks for watching 🤗🌸💛
Thank you for this video and for this question. I was so upset, my Aeoniums planter fell in the windy conditions here and one of the heads broke off. I didn't want to throw the head away. Now I will let her callus over and place in soil. There is hope after all. 🥰💚
I have my first sunburst Aeonium and the leaves have started to just drop off, healthy leaves dropping off, it is alarming! Any idea what I have done to stress it out?
Hi Moon Fire Magic Yes I would image that is alarming Well I’m honestly not quite sure without seeing it but maybe it’s got root rot or issues. I would check it see if roots are healthy. It might be worth thinking about cutting what’s left of the rosette and see if you can re root the head. What is your climate or season are you in ?

Do you have some Sun Bursts?
@@suzypie11 Yes, I have a small one, but it doesn't show signs of dormancy yet (rosettes are still wide open)
