  • Demonstration of the PROSE case being used with the ClearCare hydrogen peroxide solution. PROSE cases are an extra-large version of the “basket”-style case included with ClearCare kits. They are designed for lenses anywhere from 15mm to 24mm. To use them, you have to transfer the catalyst disc from the smaller to the larger case.

      IKR? If we could just persuade Alcon to market a version of Clear Care with a larger case... life would be easier. I live in hope. A little bit.

    Back in the day when its was aosept they sold the neutralizing disk individually they came in a little box with stickers you put on the case to remind you of when to change your disk , as you kept the case as they were sold separately, that was in the late 90's early 2000 s does anyone remember that, the system consisted of. Aosept peroxide solution, miraflow extra strength daily cleaner the aosept case which originally was white you could not see thru it , the neutralizing disk and software saline you used to rinse the daily cleaner and then the lenses before insertion, and ultrazyme enzymatic cleaning tablets you used weekly because alot of people still had lenses replaced once year !! Useless info i know, thats why multipurpose solutions become so popular, not only was it time consuming but expensive if you didn't get the starter kit from your doctor that was alot to buy to start , the case, was like 12.00 , the disk were like 15 or 20 for 4 i think, then the aosept ( clear care) which was like 12.00 the daily cleaner , the saline , but i always thought it was worth it and i have never had a eye infection and i have worn soft hydrogel, silicone hydrogel, and Gas Permeable lenses !!!

    Not sure how you became the only one who sells this large case. but congratulations on being able to sell about 25 cents worth of plastic for $25. When you consider that alcon gives a free case when you buy $19 worth of cleaning solutions WITH the platinum piece, I just can't see how you can justify $25 for this container. I genuinely hope someone else is able to find the wholesaler for this product and get you to drop your price. to about $3.00.

      We are sorry to hear about your frustration with the product. We would love it if Alcon made a larger case suitable for scleral lenses. The PROSE case is a specialty product for a very small niche market and while none of us are crazy about it, it's what we have. If Alcon made a larger case or sold the catalysts separately, we would be the first to stock them!

    Does it still take about 6 hours for the catalyst to neutralize the hydrogen peroxide or does it take longer since it's a larger volume in the prose case?

    • @TheDryEyeShop
      @TheDryEyeShop  2 роки тому

      Hi there, per the manufacturer's instructions, "To properly allow the Clear Care solution to neutralize, devices must remain in the case for AT LEAST six hours."

    What’s the difference from using allot of clear care product VS 3% Prox ?

    • @TheDryEyeShop
      @TheDryEyeShop  2 роки тому

      Clear Care contains additional cleaning agents, not just peroxide, and I don't know all the details but I would imagine it's also a different grade of peroxide. That said, 3% peroxide will definitely get the disinfection job done. Always safest, even with brown bottle stuff, to use the Clear Care catalyst disc though!

    I purchased the Prose case for my Scleral lenses from your store a couple of months ago. Upon delivery I noticed There is no way that the clear care disc will fit into the Prose case. Do you sell an updated version of Prose case that will accept the disc ?

      Hi there. We sell one version of the PROSE case. This video explains how to break the catalyst from the Clear Care case and put it in the PROSE case.

    Can I keep my lenses in clear care case for 3 days or more without open it (like I don’t wear my lenses every day)?!

    • @TheDryEyeShop
      @TheDryEyeShop  4 роки тому

      According to the package insert at this link:
      embed.widencdn.net/pdf/plus/alcon/jlycpxw6az/W9011539_WPI_C_CLRCRE_12oz_US.pdf?u=4rqn9d
      "If you do not intend to wear your lenses immediately after disinfection/neutralization, you may store them in the unopened lens case for up to 7 days. Disinfect and neutralize once a week with fresh solution and before wearing your lenses."
      However, that means you would have to disinfect them again before wearing them again. If you don't wear your lenses every day, but do wear them pretty regularly, it might make more sense for you to store them in a multi-purpose solution such as Boston Simplus or Unique pH.
      Also (and I should have said this first...) check with your eye doctor! :)

    I have a question can I use this clear care case for color contacts

    • @TheDryEyeShop
      @TheDryEyeShop  4 роки тому +1

      I would check with your lens provider (or company you bought them from) to ensure compatibility of the solution. I don't know of any reason why the case itself would pose any issue specifically for colored lenses.

    Is there a way to buy only catalysts?

    • @TheDryEyeShop
      @TheDryEyeShop  4 роки тому

      No, unfortunately. I mean, some people collect them and sell them on eBay, but I'd be a little cautious about where you get them if you want them to work properly - if they're sold on their own, for example, you won't have any idea how old they are.
      If they could be purchased from a reliable source, without Clear Care or equivalent, we'd definitely be stocking them at the Dry Eye Shop for the PROSE case and as spares generally.

      @@TheDryEyeShop gotcha, thanks for the answer. I gotta find out a way to make these I guess... somehow I doubt it has to be platinum based. I think platinum is a neat way to discourage you from making one yourself and make you reliant on their product.

    What’s the importance of the catalyst? Maybe I missed that point.

    • @TheDryEyeShop
      @TheDryEyeShop  5 років тому +2

      The catalyst neutralizes the hydrogen peroxide. It starts out as peroxide, and over the course of the 6-hour disinfection process, the catalyst turns it into saline so that there is no risk of getting peroxide in the eye in the morning.

    I just got diagnosed with keratoconus and im getting fitted for Scleral lenses. I find it absolutely absurd that these brands arent accommodating and we have to hack things together just ot take proper care of our eyes.
    If i had a 3d printer i would just go in and make deeper baskets. its probably pretty easy to do. Clearcare couldve just made their baskets a bit deeper but instead they decided to take the time to make their catalys harder/impossible to remove. So dumb

      Hmmm I'm not sure I understand your comment, do you have a question? Are you talking about soft lenses? (Scleral lenses don't disappear in the eye.)

    • @goblingwin
      @goblingwin 3 роки тому

      I did not noticed that I have to use the specific case to clean my contact lenses, so the next day when I use the lenses, my eye was burning and I tried to get the lenses out, but can not.
      I went to ER and they find no lenses in my eye, but my right eye was been hurt by the eye solution.
      I believe I am not the only one had the issue, the packing of clean Clare eye solution has no difference from other products, but the usage procedure is totally different, the company should tell their customers clearly about the differences.
