I bought a Compact and tried it in my basement on abaut 9 yards and it delivered a group with only one hoole! I had a perfect rest and vanted too see how accurate the pistol was, not mee. I find it fantastic accurate and will keep it thugh i dont use it anymore!
Thank you for your comment much appreciated. They are great little pistols, glad yours is doing well too. I can recommend changing the trigger spring, it makes a big difference.
They are both really good, likewise I love mine too. For me the Compact edges it for the ergonomics, making it easier for me to shoot. But back when I was a kid I was very accurate with the 45, but then it was all I had so I used it almost nonstop.
@ these are the nicest pistols I have ever had and shot. The gas cilinder is strong and every time the same power. Last week i bought the Gamo HPA MI Maxxim IGT Mach1 With the same power cilinder.
I've just bought a Gamo PR45 second hand and I really like it. It's not a top flight target pistol, it's made largely of plastic but for all that it is still very accurate and shoots at a good velocity for a single stroke pneumatic. I have other SSP pistols in the way of HW75 and an original FAS 604 and the Gamo gets the most use. Many thanks for a great presentation.
Accidentally bought a PR-45 when I was going to buy a Compact. This video had all the info I needed, and I'll buy a Compact and keep the PR-45 as a "fun gun" for friends. (We are all responsible adults). Your vid was perfect! Thank you!
Excellent video, very well presented in a relaxed and down to earth way. I bought a PR45 last year to get a bit of pistol shooting "revision" in after a break from air guns of nearly 40 years, but have not had time / motivaty to use it yet. Dug it out to try this weekend as finally got the time, and whilst looking for some PR45 pistol related videos to watch found this one. Looking forward to some "precision plinking" with it now. All the best.
Thank you, much appreciated. Glad you enjoyed the video. Good choice buying the PR45, I wouldn't be without mine. I hinted in the video about changing the trigger spring to lighten it, I have since changed the PR45's spring and it made a big difference, just don't go too light with it. Happy plinking 👍🏻
I have a PR-45 for the last 14 years, and I did have to replace the valve in waranty probably after 5000+ pellets, and after that not a single problem. I dont use it much now a days but its still shotting. I just opened mine to oil the trigger and coils, and found your video, thanks for the tip on oiling the cilinder shaft, I just did it, it feels its easier to cock and a tiny bit more pressure on the shoots.
Hello, thank you for your comment much appreciated. Glad you are having a similar experience with your PR-45, they really are great. Glad the video was helpful. All the best
7 years ago, I bought a Beeman P17 for £69 new and I absolutely love it. The trigger is the crispest trigger I have on any of my guns and there's no slop in it whatsoever. I pinched my hand in the sides several times at first when loading, - owww ! Accuracy is spot on . For targets, I put copper coins in the sides of pringles tubes with slits cut in it and at abput 8 yds I can usually shoot most of them out first time. Loads of fun and I hope it lasts as long as yours! Happy new year Nick!
Hello Martin, happy new year to you too. I've seen the P17 at a couple of gunshops and was tempted, great to hear real long-term ownership stories rather than just going by magazine reviews. Good shooting with those 2ps. The P17 looks well made to me, also I can't help but notice how similar it is to the £200+ Weihrauch HW40... I trapped by hand in the PR-45 on many occasions too, I eventually learned the technique. I should have mentioned it in my video.
Yes, it IS an HW40, albeit a Chinese made version. Apparently, the German one has a Lothar-Walther barrel and, ... well, that's it, I think! Oh, and you get a case, pellets, etc. I remember seeing a comment by someone about how the internals were better quality steel, but I reckon that's probably a bit of snobbery and justification for paying the extra money. I can leave this thing cocked for 10 hours and still have it shoot like you've just cocked it. The only thing I did to it when I got it, was to take off all the moulding slivers from the polymer body - smoooth! I look after it well and it has never failed me even once. Here's a tip: where the little intake hole is, I put a small bead of silicon oil over it and when you open the action fully, it will suck the oil inside, vapourising it as it does so. This keeps things lubricated and sealed inside nicely. I do that about once every 3 months. It's an amazing gun, really comfortable and most importantly, I can consistently hit what I aim at. Very satisfying!
Sorry Nick, forgot to say, great video as always (I was too busy 'gushing'!). I'm going to keep my eye out for an EB 22 this year. Now there's a beast of a gun!
Hello...thanks for the informative video. I'm looking to get the Compact 45 or the Air Venturi V10 air pistol...the fps is 400...more like 330-360 is what I have heard...is that type of speed lobbing the pellet into the target at 10 meters or is it a pretty flat trajectory at that distance??
Hello, thank you for your comment much appreciated. Neither the Compact nor the PR-45 have any "knock down" power, they are more about accurate shooting. The sights on mine need adjustment between 6 yards and 10 yards. It isn't a large amount, but it isn't the same aim point. Accuracy remains good at 10 yards, the limiting factor is me.
Hello, thank you for your comment much appreciated. There is an exploded diagram on the John Knibbs website, I haven't seen any actual instructions anywhere.
Hello, thank you for your comment. The two pistols you mention are break barrel air pistols and are spring powered (igt option on the Gamo). The "Ruger" is a replica made by Umarex. The spring / igt systems will recoil. The Gamo Compact and PR-45 are both single stroke pneumatic recoilless pistols, ideal for target shooting. I believe that the Gamo P900 and the Umarex "Ruger" will have a higher lbft than the Gamo Compact and PR-45. I haven't shot the P900 or the MkIV, to be honest they don't particularly interest me.
Please forgive the use of translation software for my reply, I hope it makes sense.

@@nickvending9688 Yes they indeed are accurate and reliable. I Just bought a Gamo PR-776 Hope its half as reliable as the PR-45.
I've seen the PR-776, I was tempted.
@@nickvending9688 its due to arrive in couple of weeks, when it does I´ll let you know how it compares to the old classic PR-45.
Thank you, much appreciated.
Thanks for that mate. Very helpful. I live in Spain and I'm after an air pistol for target shooting in the garden.
Thank you, glad it was helpful.
Either of these would be a great choice.

I just had a offer to buy this pistol with the same trigger spring issue and by this information im going for it!
