Those cheep nasty cherry tomatoes for a quid for around 20 are the best targets in the world. some BBq sticks in the ground and pop these on them. I set dozens at all different range. Great fun
I have the ducks as well but can't recommend them. They will bend with even 7,5J because the metal is so cheap. I recommend getting a few spoons and hang them on a stick so they can spin. Cheaper and they will not bend, even after a few thousand rounds.
Take a 2p coin and the paper caps we all used to use in our cap guns, not the plastic things but the rolls of red paper with the hundreds of small dots. Wrap tightly round the coin about a dozen times. Use a piece of sellotape to bind it all together. Et Voila, cheap reactive targets with a bang and smoke.
Oh man! This was a good video! Allkinda nice targets! The pellet catching duck box though, apparently only catches the missed pellets..😁 But box targets like it and the likes are always nice to have. I've though mostly made my own targets n boxes. Got a string resettable box with 6pcs of 60mm plates to shoot down. Quite large targets yes, but it's mostly for close range replica rifle and pistol plinking rather than for real target work.. The Reign.. A very nice pick for this video. I really want one for myself too. A massive thanks to Andy and crew for yet another sweet video for my Friday morning mug of coffee..
This brings back a memory from when I was teaching my young nephew to shoot many years ago and we were using polos to shoot through the hole. I showed him how it was done over and over again and he kept saying wow I hope I can shoot like you one day. Little did he know I was purposely missing because for one I’d even struggle to get a string of them to set the bar, but it it kept him amused for hours or until he’d shot every pellet I had. And do you know I don’t think I’ve ever told him yet nearly 30 years later, sometimes I’d clip one just to look as if I was aiming for the hole but funny nevertheless.
I would inform all my neighbours about the exploding blanks. Give them some rough days when it takes place and perhaps a time frame. People get grumpier when they're nervous or kept out the loop. Better still invite some over to have a try.
love the firebird targets! used to use them at my parents house where i had my range, nearest neighbours being a mile away surrounded my farm land... all the pops and bangs haha
Another great video, highlighting the fun aspects of the hobby, doesn't always need to be about serious range shooting or vermin control! Thanks again and keep up the amazing work! 👍
When I was a kid old Airfix model planes that I no longer wanted to keep made good targets, albeit they did not last long and there were many bits of plastic to clear up afterwards. Best session was with a plastic model battle ship that was floating along the stream at the end of a friend's garden. Firing from a lying position the misses looked great as they sent up spouts of water near the model. Other targets included match sticks and tiny little 1/72 scale model soldiers. Happy days.
Ring pull tin lids are good targets. Bend the ring pull to a right angle from the lid and stand it on the ring pull. They do get damaged and need replacing frequently, but they are free so no problem.
I use those too! Only because I don't want to walk downrange every time after shooting them, I suspend two of them together by the rings. The challenge is not to hit the ring and separate the lid from it prematurely. They can take a lot of fire untill they are done. After that I do end up shooting the lid off the ring. They are suspended in a manner that keeps them from rotating freely so they face you at all times. I also like to suspend drink cans by the ring without bending the ring up in the same manner and then shoot the can in two so the bottom falls off. If needed I go downrange and rotate the can along the ring a little to expose the remaining parts better. In the end I shoot the top part off the ring again.
Great video Andy, lots of cool targets! 👍 For a couple more ideas: sidewalk chalk is good stuff! It's very easy to cut into smaller slices (any kind of small handsaw will work) and its no problem to tell if you've hit it. Also empty shotshells are good for plinking at and are virtually free, just grab them from a skeet shoot. 👍😉 Everyone have a great weekend and happy and safe shooting! Pete 🇨🇦
Love the exploding ones, as I don't have neighbours. Just started to watch your channel. I have just bought the Gamo swarm 177 as I have thousands of rats to get rid of. My poor cat can't keep the rats down to many.
@@steveshaw4368 that’s too easy, shooting polos hole at 50m. Straight through middle every time, no Polos ever harmed, did I mention I was blind folded at the time shooting around corner, in the dark. Lol.
Brilliant review Andy. Loved the bottle one. I bought some Thunder Caps a few weeks ago which allow to to fill most drinks bottles with compressed air and turn them into a DIY exploding target. I've got a video of one of them but don't seem to be able to attach it. But they do make a bang 😂
I have a Texas star style airgun interactive target. Hit one of the little plates and they fold over, and the whole star rotates, making subsequent hits much harder unless to wait for it to settle
A while back Andy mentioned the possibility of comparison reviews, perhaps some of the newer releases from BSA against those they replaced or the differences within the ranges of various brands could be an option.
I have a collection of old metal pans that I stick various styles of target cards on and hang them from a washing line, I have a fairly large garden and at the back is just scrub so the lead isn't much of a problem and I can collect most of it afterwards.
At approx 17.30 re The yellow ,stick in ground target. Down here in Oz the ground is pretty hard. I made some wooden skis from 2 by 4 inch off cuts roughly 2 feet long each . Some holes drilled in the timber allow the steel legs a firm steady base for the target frame. Cheers from Downunder 👍🇦🇺🇬🇧
Got the Walther Reign with the same scope and a Hogun Deimeater silencer. My Reign's a Mk1 0.177 though. Also got the duck target box. I shoot it at 40yds and have to straighten out the ducks from time to time even though I'm
Just want to share a good target. I take used paper plates, stack 2 with a nail in the center, and on the back use a marker to make a + between nail and edge. Then rotate a bit to cover holes. Nail it to a tree or wood of choice. You can put several + targets on a plate
Fun but think of the noise with neighbours. Old socks keep down the sound in pellet catchers. Leaving targets in the garden for all to see may invite unwanted attention?
lol that one with exploding 6mm target is like way i used to shoot, i used put blanks into a pre drilled board anfd shoot them. then later i used to shoot the ends of exploding pellets. great review
My back stop behind all my targets is a bunch of massive logs strapped together with metal straps and then center blocks behind that and I have never had a stray bullet or pellet leave my property
Great video. More targets please! I watch your videos every Friday and would love a gun but I don't want to shoot live targets and paper would be fun for all of 5 minutes so I'd struggle to justify spending any money on a gun. The snooker target was my favourite here, what a great idea.
I make my own shoot-n-see by (black) spray painting the inside of metallic (silvered) fruit juice cartons. Rattle cans of gloss paint for cars chips away cleanly and I can see hits at 100m. Little red stickers give my aim point. Have made my own chalks in the wife's latex cake/chocky moulds using talcum powder bound with shellac.
I brought a Walter but the barrel was a bit duff , even with the scope at max it was still nearly 1ft out at 30 meters . The silencer had a grove cut out ! I took it back but the replacement was the same maybe just a bad batch ?
Andy, can you recommend a garden target set up for a pair of bb air pistols, his and hers, glock 19x and a sig p365, and what kind of distance should we be looking at to the target. Mature (ish) enthusiastic amateurs 😊 Thank you.

I had a can of Guinness Zero over the Chrimbo period (I don’t drink). The can has that widget in, and it’s approximately 80% the diameter of a ping pong ball, and appears to be made of reasonably durable plastic, could make a nice little target, on top of something or maybe hanging from a line?
Love a bit of target time - 1st what`s the SP with buying .177 blanks, 2nd does anybody know where to buy a "Texas Star" they look great fun, but it would have to be air gun spec.

Hi Andy great review however you need to add the stay safe and shoot safe with a comment on read the instructions very carefully with the Firebird exploding targets - yes they may be great fun and I do like them but the second one I shot has damaged my left ear permanently because I wasn’t wearing adequate ear protection!
