Great review. Just one thing to mention. I’ve had this a few weeks now and I can say for sure that it’s definitely more than a back yard plinker. It’s easily a beginner to intermediate match pistol, which has actually been proven in the compressed air competitions on several occasions. If anyone is considering buying this to take them from zero to competition entering ability, then this is absolutely the gun for you!!
Rub down the grip edges with sandpaper nice and smooth, replace the trigger adjustment screw with one that actually reaches the sear, the original doesn't and does nothing, smear a little moly grease on the contact points of the trigger. You will have a very nice pistol. I fitted a sight rail on mine and use a red dot sight, works great.
Lubricate sparingly but frequently. Too many people let them dry out then performance drops off and they sell them quickly rather than remedy the problem.
Open the tin and tip it into the bin! I agree 100% My first "real" air rifle could not hit the side of the Gamo factory with those pellets. Dang near turned me off shooting air. I tried a better pellet and was amazed that the garbage rifle could actually group under 1/2"
Enjoyed that review, I’m in the midst of deciding on a “decent-ish” air pistol for occasional casual target shooting. I’ve got it down to the HW40 and the Gamo Compact. Anyway, cheers mate was an informative watch.
I have both. The HW40 has a better, way smoother trigger. The Compact trigger requires way more force and tends to make the final aiming harder. My guess is that Gamo did not made it softer (you can mod it yourself, there are vids here I think) because the gun has no safety, unlike the HW40 which has an automatic one. If I had to choose one for competition the Weihrauch one would be my choice, but I like more the way the Compact looks.
Thanks for a god revue, can you please show how to put the pellets were and how in the airgun, flat side in or flat side out. Wath ever it's hard to do with big fingers. I hade an e-Gamo rifle, just bend and put pellet, but this is different. I'm not stupid., just a beginner. Lol, thanks for your help.
NO NO NO! DON'T ADD OIL to the cylinder, only service in line with manufacturer recommendations. Certainly don't oil the bore. You usually find all the correct and recommended lubricants on the makers site. You can ruin seals with the wrong substance. Some need silicone some need gun grease.

Great review, I just got mine and I am really happy with this gun.

Yes the cocking action does pinch like crazy, ask me how I know, 😂🤣👍

A .22 barrel would make put out about 200 FPS. Doubt you’d want that.
Just ordered a V10- thank you very much. I’ve heard two pumps add power; do you know if this is true?
Not true
How loud is this gun?
Just remember to add a LITTLE oil to the cylinder or performance will really drop off.

@@Mr234905 Sorry I assumed that people know not to use non airgun lubricants and by LITTLE I mean a single drop.
Are you still happy with it, after all these years?
I sold it after 6 weeks, bought a Steyr evo 10
How do you widen the rear sight?
Screw on one side moves sight left and right, other side widens sights.
Can't show how to put pellets in now, no longer have the gun. Pellets go in as with any other gun, sharp end first, skirt last.
Has anyone considered changing barrels. Seems easy enough to change it up to shoot .22 cal. pellets with a barrel change.
Windage and elevation.
