    Very interesting! I laughed when you mentioned looking back and seeing the wing. I had an opportunity to fly right seat in a B-17 and did the very same thing! It was an amazing feeling knowing I was flying that famous WWII bomber! Got to do several low passes and one full stop landing. Only my second tailwheel landing ever!

    Hey mate, for a future video you could talk more about actually flying the 737, such as the way it handles, considerations you need to take when flying the 737 as opposed to other aircraft (such as it being quite the slippery bugger, doesn't want to slow down.) Also, would be interesting to hear the quirks of the aircraft, such as the rather out of date (60's) ergonomics. Just a few ideas, but hope they help. Thank you for the videos and keep them up, very inspirational for a student pilot like myself.

    Haha so weird you say that about keep saying to yourself "keep going down keep going down". My instructor drilled that in my head because when I put the second flap selection in on base in the Piper, I had a tendency to not pitch down as the aircrafts aerodynamics change with the new flap. So I still to this date tell myself to keep going down haha.

    Hello Sir, your channel is perfect, I'm just finishing my aeronautics degree and I'm struggling to figure out what steps to make next. Funding the training is the challenge for me, I'm sitting engineering exams now to work with commercial aircraft but my passion lies with flying.
    I don't suppose you could give us any advice on how to prepare yourself for assessments etc, and develop yourself personally to prepare for the airline industry? By this I mean how we can practice certain activities like multitasking, maths that you require for day to day flying etc. Maybe even your routine preparing for flights etc... I cant thank you enough for the content you create! It's what many aspiring pilots need!!
    Thank you!

    I have experienced a "Go around" once in my history of flying when I landed at Gatwick a couple of years ago. Go around is basicly the same as "Touch and go" but without hitting the runway. My assume is that it was due to that previous traffic (either start or landing) was not of the runway in time. What are the procedures for go arounds and what are youre thaughts for when you as a captain needs to inform the passengers of what happening? I can assume some passengers expering a Go around is quite upset and anxious when the plane does not land as i should be? Johan.

    Doesn't the simulator teach you and give you the feel going down to the runway?

    • @EnthusiasticCoder
      @EnthusiasticCoder 9 років тому

      Sorry the other thing I noticed you saying was that the rotation rate at Vr (ideally a value of 2.5 deg/sec) is something that can't be learnt properly on the simulator.
      That's a bit surprising. I thought a lot of the danger type flying can be recreated in the simulator to prepare pilots in bad flying conditions in the real world ?
      So is the physics modelling employed in the simulator really that bad and not something a million $$ piece of kit that it is not able to recreate the resistance to rotate the tail wing through the ground effect during Vr-V2?
      Weird!
      I saw somewhere on UA-cam that the A380 simulator was actually harder to fly than the real thing.
      Is the Boeing sim somehow built using older technology?
      Perhaps the real A380 has too much software post-input processing before flight surfaces actuation.
      apologies once again for the long questions.

      He mentions in an earlier video, that the type rating was self sponsored. As the base training is a part of the type rating (Atleast if I got it right) this is self sponsored and was priced at 30k euros at that time

    • @prabalsharma6190
      @prabalsharma6190 8 років тому

      Okay, you wanna know the steps to become an airline pilot? Here we go, ask questions if you dont get sth!
      Step 1. Get your licenses:
      This means that you need to search for flight schools in your surrounding (I recommend to try and contact former students to know how easily they got employed and stuff, also research the reputation of the flight school). If you found one that offers a ATPL course including: ATPL(A) theory, the Private PIlots License (called PPL), the Commercial Pilots License (called CPL), a Multi Engine Rating (called MEP), a Multi Crew Coordination (called MCC). At the end of this training that takes longer than you would expect it to, you should get an ATPL(A) license and then you can apply to an airline. Some airlines have different prioties so you might need a University degree (mostly in the US only) or good grades in maths, physics and english.
      Step 2. Write the actual applications and get employed.
      Step 3. Get your type- rating, base training and line training and start to work.
      Step 4. Profit!

    ***** yet again another fantastic video!!! Your enthusiasm for the role and the profession is evident in every single one of your videos. It is so refreshing to see someone as experienced as yourself, still absolutely passionate about the role, given all the negativity that is out there. I take great inspiration from your videos (and knowledge of course) and I am confident that I will still have the same level of passion as yourself, when I am at your level of experience. Please keep the videos coming, they are great! Feel free to follow my ATPL journey on twitter:@BECMGav8or and instagram @BECMG_AV8OR

    can i study pilot for low cost?

    • @victory0115
      @victory0115 8 років тому

      Not really. The cost of a Private Pilots license is about 6 to 8 thousand euros, followed by a Commercial Pilots License at 15 to 20 thousand euros and the ultimate license the ATPL costs between 65 and 80 thousand euros. You will need to find an airline sponsored program to become a pilot almost for free, this is extremely hard, but I encourage you to research about it!

    I want to fly for Delta and major in Aeronautical Science - Professional Pilot at SUNY Farmingdale. Mentour Pilot: If you have time, could you research this course just as I have and tell me what you think of this. This is an American college very close to my home (JFK Airport is about 30min to the SW and SUNY Farmingdale is equidistant from my home to the East.) Thank you in advance www.farmingdale.edu/academics/. I am entering the 10th grade (I don't know if Spain uses the same system; I am 15 years of age)

    Mentour, thanks for another great video!
    Learning pilots often commit a mistake at landing that is called in Russian a 'goat'. Here is an example: ua-cam.com/video/u6QlvPlAZ9E/v-deo.html But are there such cases during base training with 737, 320 or similar jets? What are the consequences for the prospective pilot and who pays for damages?

    Viewers should realize that he cannot possibly do all of these videos in an actual cockpit. Sorry but if you need constant visual distraction you will never make it through flight training. Do you expect a college lecture to be accompanied by musical and visual background? Go play World of Warcraft and get your type rating in that dude.
