Changed to a sparco deep dish wheel in my Z. Feels sooo much better. I’m 6’2 so naturally I sit far back away from the wheel along with my knees hitting the wheel. Deep dish took all that away
For the record, I owned new a 2006 Manual DE Rev-Up and the oil consumption issues are real, but only affect a small percentage of cars and Nissan has no idea why. I took delivery of the car with less than 4 miles on it. I broke it in per factory recommendations and it burned through a quart in 700-800 miles. I washed the car every weekend and washed all the thick, black soot out of the insides of the tail pipes. and every week they were completely black again. I ditched that car for a 2007 when the new HR engine came out. Bought a demo car from a dealer lot with ~500 miles on it (I assume it was abused for those 500 miles), but... It's never burned any oil to this date and the tailpipes are clean despite having never been washed out. Have 68k miles on the car now. So 2006 oil consumption is real, but only on a small percentage of manual cars. BTW, that notepad racing is funny as hell. Keep up the great channel...
@@valeriepickens558 sure, I did thow away some $$ but I was never that impressed with the de rev-up engine. The HR is putting down 300 HP at the wheels on a dynojet, SAE corrected with just CAI, HFC, exhaust and Dyno tune. Bench racing FTW! but seriously it's just so rewarding to wind it out to 7k RMPs. The modded 06 DE felt anemic in comparison even with similar mods. My wife had an 06 as well and it burned no oil so she kept hers and loved it. We had plenty of opportunity to dyno them back-to-back, same day, same dyno, etc. HR has an easy 45 HP advantage above 5k RPMs. Not peak vs peak, but area under the curve. YMMV
nothing that I can think of right now. I am just looking for my 350z. going to check a couple out this weekend. I'm sure I will have plenty of questions once I get it, but I feel like there is a fair chance you have covered it haha. I love the comparison to the STI because that's what I'm trading in for the z.
Because 2003 was the first year for the 350Z it tends to have the most issues. Tire feathering, issues with power windows rolling down on their own. Also synchros might be worn out. It's not super major but things you have to look out for or be prepared for.
Roddy Dykes the only difference in the track edition is the assist switches and the brembos. All z models are practically the same other than interior and brakes. Minus the base they all have vsld . Just throw a brake kit on your enthusiast model and delete the assist and you have a track edition
I'm 60 years old, the days of my street racing is long behind me. I love the way the car drives, so to do much more then Anthony has done would be a waist of money. Thanks again for the tips Tony.
I have an automatic sweety, but I do thank you. By the way,...do you know anyone that would be interested in buying my Porsche 914? It's a GT with an LS1 conversation.
Nice video! I hope it open the eyes of those people only focusing on HP only! Tires, brakes, and suspension should be the first performance mods and then the driver.
I like the point you're making. It's how you interact with your setup and how much experience you have driving near the limit. I won my autocross class in a 04 350z on Ironman Imove tires - a complete whack brand but today they beat out the guys on Kuhmos and P Zeros.
Ok I was feeling terrible after I lost a joy drag like yours the other day. TC got me. So I stared turning it off from the get go and not worry about forgetting it at the moment.
Anthony, I have this shifting issue were it's harder to shift overtime especially after 15min. of city driving. I had to turn off the motor just to get to another shift gate/gear. I'm also running on RJM clutch pedal kit and Torque Solution short shifter. I love them, but it's just that after few minutes of city driving turns into a nightmare. Where in the car should I start checking? Thanks.
I would look into replacing the clutch slave cylinder, they're known to leak at this age. Also switch the transmission fluid to Redline Nissan rated manual transmission fluid. Shifts much smoother after.
@@AnthonyJ350 Last time replaced my slave cylinder along with a new z1 clutch was two years ago due to misaligned clutch release fork. Then before that was replaced transmission fluid with Redline MT-85. Thanks to your suggestion, now I'm thinking insufficient transmission fluid I've put in (3quarts). Will do; ill replace trans fluid next. thanks
Years ago i had a kid with his friend waiting for me when i got out from subway getting a sub...He wanted to race....race in the city and it was raining...I told the kid to take his dads car back home...i have a stock 07 350z. Ive had the car for 13 years
What did you do to your short shifter to make the knob higher? I have an aftermarket weighted knob like yours and on the stock shifter it sits super low.
extinct I bought them because I wanted a good rain tire (car doesn't see snow). The dry performance is really good bit in the wet it impresses me the most, lots of confidence driving in the rain.
Cool, thanks. I am currently deciding between gmax, kumhos or the sumitomos. (all of them are all season type tires) I am leaning towards sumitomos at the moment, mainly because of price.
extinct I can't speak for the Khumo but the Gmax is really good on the highway as well. Very little road noise, good when you drive the car for 6 hours straight.
Great video I have a 04 z33 roaster. The brakes are sad to say garbage I will upgrade with new performance pads and rotors and try that cylinder brace thanks for the tips👍🏼
I switched to my 06 350z from an 07 WRX. the main thing i miss from the subaru is the sheer amount of traction on take off. i could launch that thing with full throttle and no bogging whatsoever. The Z takes finesse that im still trying to figure out. I autocross somewhat often. im still getting used to the Z, need to change my driving style.
Noel Alvarez What tires do you run? Yes full throttle isn't recommended to launch at, my car (tuned) makes peak torque at 2,600rpm and is flat across the board.
Goodyear Eagle Sport. its the tires that were on the car when i got it. (3 months in) . Being all seasons they dont do well in hard driving. Im going to wear them down while i perfect my driving technique instead. I plan on moving to a much grippier tire once they are done, most likely the Potenza RE-71R, fantastic autox tire
Noel Alvarez Ya that's your problem there. I would go with a 10 inch wide rear wheel and run a 275 or 285 width tire. That will definitely help with launching. Also look into the RJM Pedal it'll help with driving the car.
Yo! Thank you so much! I've owned my g35 for about a year now, and for the first time, I learned about how to properly use the clutch on it. I've always pressed all the way on other car and this car always confused me. Finally I understand what's happening. THANK YOU!!!
Im coming from the honda scene but, after my last 8th gen si build. my mods on my z will be. slotted brakes with some good pads. steel brake lines and motul 660 fluid. Short shifter. oil cooler. catch can. control arm bushings and diff bushings. tires obvi. coilovers. extended studs. then wheels. steering wheel. clutch. then move into the engine. mods. however i did buy a catback single exit to start with. along with repainted the car too. I do have a base model 05 so i need to do something with the open rear end cause what is a Z without a lsd rear of some sort. right!? haha NO SLACK FTW

I swapped my brake pads and routers and fuild and aww it so amazing firm feel with brimbos stops so well and feels good my lines were fine as car as I know. also done my clutch for an excidy organic sports clutch with a single mass flywheel. my clutch was an bad before i changed it. but when I swapped it and it was great but the new clutch is chatters at 1800 and lower rpm. and the clutch point was moved from lower down to high up but it's almost like I have to rev match to make go into gear nice and pull out the clutch slow or the flywheel and clutch smash together feels bad as. because I can't shift fast with it and I have to always rev match and have to always think about it

the only thing your Z is missing is the brembos! it would look awesome

What shift knob is that?
Im really looking for a weighed shift knob similar to the stock shift knobs shape.
It's a Greddy weighted shift knob paired up with a Torque Solutions one piece short shifter.
