Myself and Chris have just got off a plane so unfortunately didn’t have chance to pin this comment before the video went live in this video we decided that we are not doing the numbers due to checking through the analytics recently it seems like everybody’s is just driving out before the end of the video so it is absolutely pointless for us to do them. Like I have been mentioning in recent videos we are constantly trying new things and nothing is set in stone nothing is permanent we just have to try and test things Have a great weekend everyone and will be live at five on Monday as usual 👌👍
It amazes me how Chris has become so comfortable in front of the camera and talking and even filming himself with you running around! Love the channel ! Keep them coming.🇨🇦👍
Rob, you never have to apologise for for the content you put out. Everything you do is awesome and very interesting. If the general public don't like what you guys do they can go elsewhere for their free entertainment. I always love to see a new vid from both of you. I have tons of panelbeating and mech repair experience but i love to watch chris solving problems and I still learn from your channel. I always enjoy your vids a lot. Please keep them coming. Chris could do with a bluetooth mic when he is explaining stuff as he is very hard to hear but the whole channel is great. Thanks guys.
Chris did it again there is no end to this mans talent 👏 what a master mechanic you put manufacturer's dealers ships to shame with your knowledge and experience and workman ship .Best of luck lads 👦 have a fantastic weekend 👍
Brilliant bit of work by Chris, those mechatronic gearboxes look extremely complex so hats off to him for getting this one sorted. Now a very nice little car for someone. Personally I always like to see the number crunching and do stay for that but obviously its your call!
What a great video, Chris giving his piece to camera is a joy to watch. His all round skill is amazing and meticulous .Thank you to the boys who can.👍🇬🇧keep The Faith.London Paul.
Another fist rate rebuild/repair, you are repairing an Audi a car very close to my heart. Totally amazing, seriously you should seriously consider consultant work. It doesn’t matter what car you work on you run rings around the mechanics/technicians at my German main agent. I replaced a speaker in the door of my Audi, the dealership wanted £120.00 to check the speaker was faulty then another £200.00 plus the part to complete the job. If you guys opened a garage I would not hesitate to have my car serviced by you. Two days work well spend . Top marks
Great work from you both to get the car back on the road but I'm still amazed at Chris' knowledge and skill. Not everyone dives out before the end, I quite enjoy crunching the numbers! Nice work guys.
Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant guys. After the previous owner being quoted what they were, for Chris to decide to give it a go and have the car running perfectly again. Great job and a well deserved result!
Nice to see a repair being done that is out of the ordinary for most people including Chris's previous experience. Never too late to learn something new by having the confidence to have a go and do some research to get there.
Thanks 😊 for developing a video on gearbox diagnostics, thanks to the Australian subscriber's assistance to enable the success 🙌 which completed the filling of fluid through the breather.👌👍
Great video. It’s good to show how you get broken bolts out. It’s a skill one learns with practice. Drilling a straight hole is so important. Then using the correct easy out ( A left hand thread kind of tap). Sometimes the easy out will not remove the broken bolt. So now we use a rats tail file and file out the bolt till one gets near the threads of the old bolt and the insert or female thread of the item. Scrape out the last bit of bolt in the female threads. Access is everything. I remember cutting down a easy out with a carbon wheel and making flats on the end so I can put on a open ended spanner, had such bad access. Keep them coming guys .
Good video lads, Chris has got another notch under his belt not only cuts grass, drinks lots of coffee he fixes gearboxes as well ! What does Rob do? Stand there in amazement (and still the gopher )!!!
Wow well done Chris I’ve had 3 Golfs with dsg boxes 2 mark 6 and I now have a 7, the problem you had was typical early version problems, normally an end to your car at 4grand replacement, the later versions are much more reliable they are really nice to drive as it’s very smooth in changing gears, mate you never seem to amaze me keep up your videoing feller I’m loving it.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😃oh and one day we will meet!!!
I am on my 3rd Seat in 8 years and they have this 7 speed DSG box, I have to say they are the best gear box I have ever used, smooth as butter and quick changing. Cheers guys.
A masterclass in how to fix a broken DSG gearbox. These small Audis are lovely cars and very popular with youngsters these days. They are everywhere in South Scotland. Even my mother owns one with the DSG box.
Cracking little car that, Chris is some kind of genie or wizard! ...His work is absolutely meticulous. Well done Chris on figuring that gear box out. Nice work chaps.
If you set the shift forks to neutral which is the centre position and the actuators are set to 25mm it goes on no problem. There is also a tool T10407 that holds back the clutch engaging levers. You can fill the mechatronic before fitting and fill it through the plug on the top near the breather. Good job guys
Hopefully that'll come when Robs wife has done the 200 miles etc, there is a very good chance that this stays in the family though. Cracking little car.
hello Rob and Chris. Just so impressed by the way Chris mathodically does the resurch, then applies his skills and acheives to fully rebuild such a complicated and technical peice of equipment!! Well done!! I hope that the "new owners" really do apprecate the time and effort that has been put into this project? (I am sure that they will!!) best wishes from Lincolnshire.
I could sit and watch Chris at work all day, the man is a mechanical engineering genius. I honestly can't believe you guys haven't been approached by a TV network and given your own TV show? I reckon if you guys had your own TV show it would most definitely be a massive success... Top work and a brilliant video as usual guys, absolutely brilliant...🙂👍👍👍
Good to see you now tackling gearboxes. I watched James from The Savage Garage repair a Skoda gearbox in his shed. He stripped the gearbox, pushed the bad bearings out and put new ones in. It was a big, complicated job but there was a logical and methodical order to the process. I knew Chris would fix it. It's another great job!
I I've watched all of James videos the gearbox one in particular was interesting he had a good of explaining things too I think I've learnt a lot from him sadly he seems to have disappeared off face of they earth 🤔
My daughter can only drive auto so thats why i have one too so both can drive each others cars when required, totally agree on Chris’ s bravery on tackling new jobs….i would need someone taking me thru each step fully supervised. I have also enjoyed the 3 gearbox repair videos….it has been a change from body damage.
No numbers on this one then lads another 1 bites the dust Chris got mad skills I tell ya 👍just seen the comment I enjoy the numbers and always watch to the end
What an amazing little car, and well done to Chris in rebuilding the metaronics gearbox, as always Rob what great content/video on this two part on the Adui
Hi from durham guys👋👍 great shout lads this one really pulled thru for the team👌 and chris did great job swapping parts over to get it driving again and great idea about building thread up with chemical metal and cut it back it will of given the bolt summit to hold to rather than pulling thread on new bolt install👍 but excellent couple on this guys 👌 thanks for your time and be safe see you soon👍👋
Numbers bit is like an ending to a film. Its interesting to see the quality content, the cost of the car, then end value of the car and you guys making a fair slice.
Real problem solving engineering! This is what rebuilding salvage vehicles is all about. And Chris did the hard part lying on his back in the yard!! Great video guys 👍
Another great job guys, it’s good to see modern cars can still be repaired in that way, stripping and replacing components rather than just fitting complete new assemblies. 👍👍
Great little car and thanks for the interesting video. I know you’re not selling it, but gutted there was no numbers in this video. Have a great time in Lithuania
Just as we love Chris, I think Rob might be feeling a little over looked, it's Rob that 'reaches out' and finds us all this great content and then gets it sold, so thanks the pair of you, and your very understanding partners.
Excellent, a job most people would be afraid to tackle Chris just researches and jumps straight in and sorts it out perfectly and now he knows this job if another comes in. It's a lovely car now, I think Rob,s brother will snap this up when he sees and drives it
Superb teamwork and a great result. Thanks to you I've learnt more about gearboxes in the last few weeks than in the last 50 odd years combined. Great tip about the WD40 straw, could have done with that when changing the diff oil in an old Shogun a few months back. Took an absolute age.
My elder brother is like chris, he can mend anything including gearboxes, engines etc on motorbikes or cars. He has been fixing vehicles for over 40 years. I don't think he has ever failed fixing bikes or cars.
Timed perfectly again guys. Just sat down with my tea to watch loads of success again. I was shouting at the screen at one point though. Get a straw down that filler pipe to let the air out, and then bingo. You'd worked it out yourselves. What a great team you two are..
You know Rob, sometimes even I am lost for words. There are none left I have to describe Chris 's ability and the way he has so adapted himself to a world in front of camera that simply wasn't for him. This is surely a business that will go from strength to strength. And heading towards a quarter of a million subscribers is another bonus. Well done guys you deserve every accolade bestowed upon you. Bob
Watched part one and two, very interesting and informative. I guess all twin clutch gearboxes will be similar to this, my control unit for my Peugeot unit is Japanese built.
Always amuses me, a strategically positioned can of WD ! Probably a condition of sponsorship. As an amateur mechanic who almost never gets a job right the first time I’m so impressed by the advanced work you do unfailingly. Correct diagnosis followed by successful repair. Like the stories we love as children with happy endings.
Great result, and not an easy one for you to achieve. You climbed mystery mountain to get this one sorted, and no mistake. Chris shows his mastery of all thing automotive, whether he came with prior knowledge or not. Never afraid to get his hand dirty or let his mind run in full explorer mode to get the details he needed. Obtaining the upgraded parts was a first-rate move, that should allow you to sell the vehicle on with no worries at all. You captured the whole, convoluted process, including sorting out the previous broken part issue. What a cracking series of videos.
Chris is what I would call "an all rounder" That was a lot of work requiring a lot of planning and concentration. Using chemical mettle to re pilot that off center hole was genius. I take my hat off to him. Do you trust your brother not to put it in another pond? Cheers Jim in NZ.
Glad you fixed it guys. After watching part 1 on weds I then came across diagnose Dan's yt video on the same dsg box. One thing he did once it was refitted was to run a calibration procedure via the odb port. Might be worthwhile doing that.
I had to have a new drive shaft on a 2013 Ford Focus with >150k miles. The new oil required in the box made a huge difference and would recommend a gearbox oil change every time - Silky smooth.
Wow, Chris is just amazing. To be able to fix an exploded modern auto box is one hell of an achievement. You two deserve to earn a few bob on this one b
I've really enjoyed following this build, it's been really different. Watching Chris, tackle these very difficult jobs is really inspiring. To possibly even have a go at home. Nice to see a bit of thread tapping too. Great work. 👍

It’s my favourite part the numbers 😭 and I watch every last second on the videos 🙂
Hang on, are you and Chris taken a well deserved boys holiday together ? 😀
Always enjoy the numbers.
It amazes me how Chris has become so comfortable in front of the camera and talking and even filming himself with you running around! Love the channel ! Keep them coming.🇨🇦👍
Indeed, from shy and quiet to an amazing host :)
Gone from no comment , to prime time Micheal Barrymore
Chris needs a Mic, sometimes miss his comments, well done lads!
Anybody watching this should be grateful. You both do a amazing work 👏
@@dietersmythe9649 +1 get that man a mic 👍
One of the best times of day when I get to sit down and watch these 2 mechanical masters
They really are very clever guys seem to know about every car and van .

Same here 👍
@Dave Johnson Chris is definitely the master mechanic here

Top job by Chris on a complex gearbox to work on, amazing skill again and great result👍🇮🇪
Chris is a quiet achiever. Rob is a born organizer.
Always love Chris's explanations, the more the better.
Keep up the good work guys, love your videos. Thanks.

Awesome work both of you, Chris done well sorting that Audi A1,another car back on the road and drives.
